Oh, and an auction house will not happen. That has been confirmed several times.

I see your standpoint. OF COURSE I do not want to have 20% quality gems when I hit lv 70.
You argue with the need of longterm content, but what I actually meant is the RANDOMNESS.

ofc randomness in loot is very important and some people might get lucky while others do not, but in the case of the skillgems its like ALL OR NOTHING.
And you dont have influence on it. What if you get your 20% cleave gem when you start PoE the first time? Its like GG with Lv 3!

Then is already GG, while the standard player will NEVER get such a gem and also WILL NEVER get ~19 Gemprisms(ok they do after 5 years maybe)

What I am missing is the POSSIBILITY to DIRECTLY have influence on your Skillgems.

And I see no reason for their randomness. Maybe its personal taste, but I dont like the current situation with the skillgems.
I would rather like a system, where you could convert 2000 Alternation Orbs into 1 gemprism in order to climb your way to the perfect skillgem.

@Auctionhouse

In my opinion an AH would be fine but ONLY(!!!) for Currency Items. In Diablo 3 the Gold AH sucks because it BYPASSES the itemhunt which is EXTREMLY UNSATISFIYING.

No AH, at all.

19 GCP isn't going to be an epic task to make, while you're searching for other items I'm sure you'll find items that do not go with your build that you can sell for GCP. I prefer the RNG, it's what makes the game. It's the reason that we continue to dive deeper and deeper and grind harder and harder...it's the CORE OF ARPG's.
No. Period.

No AH ever, please!
@Nas

That's what races will be for.
Random Orb rewards for reaching certain levels.
That's where you'll get your GCPs for your default characters. At the same time you participate in events, and might even make it to the top with some experience and luck.

I think it's a nice system.
Yep i must agree with all the latest posts about AH, RNG will drive this to infinite replayability and amazing character creations.

I won't say word about AH or market anymore, you got me convinced, yes sir!
GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever.

This is coming straight from the heart <3

what you mention here is actually something I really like. Since this game is meant to be played for about 10 years, there has to be at least one thing that not every player can get by simply playing the game for 6 month. And that is quality skillgems. They are rare, upgrading them is pretty much the most expensive thing you can do in this game, but that's the whole point for me.
You keep dreaming about those perfect 20% quality gems, and getting them is a real quest. And if you are ever capable of completing a build of 20% gems, you have something pretty unique in the game.
I like that this isn't something that every player has to have to even be viable, but instead a long term way of improvement.
And the thing is, with all those mini leagues and races, you keep collecting quality skill gems and orbs, maybe even win some GCPs, and after you're done you can invest all that in your high level high gem quality build.
Would be pretty boring if the game was balance in way that you pretty much have all quality gems by lvl 70.

The thing about the orb cycle, let's wait what GGG has in store for that in open beta.

Oh, and an auction house will not happen. That has been confirmed several times.

Except this is not happening in the game. At lower levels you barely get any GCP and don't have access to any quality gems (they drop rarely and you need to get lucky to get the one you use), but at end game you farm much more. You also get access to many items that can be sold for Alchemy or Chaos which can then be exchanged for GCP with other players.
Not to mention you can buy most 10+ quality skill gems from other players for 2-3 GCP.

Even 6 months of playing this game with one character is not needed. After 3 months you will have all your skill gems at +20% quality. What might need more time is getting those perfect 6 linked items.

Yeah agreed, what makes me even more exited is that the game won't be pay to win or play!

Why must ppl see POE as the next "King" of ARPG's??? Why can't you just play a game that you love - wouldn't THAT in of itself be the proof of its staying power?? Right now, I play 2 other MMO's - Rift and EQ2.

1) Rift is disappointing me left and right - I feel the devs are selling us out and making another WoW clone. Don't get me wrong, WoW was fantastic all those years ago when it came out - I'm a big TBC fan :D Lich King was fun, Cata strarted the game on a downward spiral (I like NIN :D) and Panda landa was the foot in the ass to oblivion... Anyway, I'm letting my sub in Rift finish and then not sure if I'll be back. I love their graphics and the vanilla game is fun but it just feels, after playing so many other MMO's that went in, or are on the way to, the shitter, they're selling us out for the lazy players very much as to what Actiblizz did to WoW :(

2) EQ2 is my love :) that game has so much depth and complexity that even after a year of on and off playing, I haven't even scratched the surface of it. The ironic thing about this game is that the EQ franchise is probably the grandfather to MMOs on the market today and yet the player base is some of the friendliest and helpful. I've yet to see anyone over there taunt that EQ2 is the "King" or "Slayer" of all other MMOs... Perhaps that is it's greatest power - that of silence :)

TL;DR - play games that you like and enjoy and stop saying that this game will be the next "Slayer." SWTOR, GW2, AION, Tera-ble Online, TSW, etc... all tauted that they were going to be the next "slayers." Where are they now? In the crapper and going down the waters of oblivion....
