Build of the Week, Season 2 Episode 3 Build Submission Thread

I would like to give a vote to my friend jackaloop's build. looks super in maps and tanks most everything. if I could I would like to play the spider boss with him but my build can't take it. my guess is that jack can afk tank it himself though.

Quick description: Max Block CI melee using hybrid gear and Aegis Aurora

Defensive Stats: 7360 ES, over 20 000 armor, 75% block chance, 64% spell block, over capped on every resist, Aegis Aurora giving 4% of armor as ES every time I block

For offense I use a soul taker to remove any need for mana or mana leech, this lets me reserve all my mana in auras and at the same time take advantage of the Shavronne's Revelations ring to grant me ES regen, it also frees up every link for damage abilities without having to worry about mana cost which lets me deal acceptable damage with an extremely defensive spec

To be able to cast spells that I normally wouldn't due to not having mana or mana regen I have cast when damage taken linked to blood rage, molten shell and enduring cry and I have a curse linked to curse on hit and flicker strike

This build and the item synergies makes even the hardest endgame maps trivial, what if I am in the middle of a map and I desync? no problem, I don't take damage. Have to go away for half an hour? sure thing, I will be there when I get back. Feel like taking a break in the middle of fightning dominus? he will wait for me.

there is no map mod that this build can't do, the only one I avoid is blood magic and that is because to clear a blood magic map I have to use basic attacks and it is no fun going that slow, the very dreaded reflect actually makes it tankier since you can block the reflected damage, and blocking gives me ES, same goes for lightning thorns. No Regen? no problem.

The only unique that is 100% required for this build is the Aegis Aurora, the legacy uniques I am using do make it stronger but it can be played without them, it can also be played as a caster, but as this week is about pure power I see no reason to limit myself, Jackanought is pure power, it is like PoE with cheat codes enabled!

This is legit. Played with him and the build is solid, easy to play and fun.

Overview

CookingWithFrog is a level 83 marauder on Domination league. It uses righteous fire and incinerate to burn everything to a crisp, including itself. Hence the name. Though I made the character on a softcore league, it has minimal deaths (mostly due to testing its boundaries) and is definitely viable for hardcore.

Skills

Incinerate > Blood Magic > Life Leech > Greater Multiple Projectiles > Iron Will > Faster Casting/Fire Penetration/Faster Projectiles

Grace > Vitality > Purity of Fire > Reduced Mana

Elemental Weakness (lvl 5) > Enduring Cry (lvl 5) > Cast when Damage Taken (lvl 1) > Optional 4th link

Molten Shell (lvl 9) > Rejuvination Totem (lvl 7) > Cast when Damage Taken (lvl 5) > Life Leech

Rejuvination Totem > Lightning Warp > Blood Magic

Enfeeble > Blood Rage > Blood Magic

Righteous Fire > Increased Area of Effect > Empower

offhand:

The ideal amulet to use would be Astramentis.

Gameplay and Synergies

The idea of the build is to be able to sustain righteous fire and use it to both multiply your incinerate damage and provide a decent degeneration to nearby enemies. With a fully levelled Purity of Fire, Rise of the Phoenix unique shield and Elemental Adaptation passive point, you have a total of 88% fire resistance meaning you take 10.8% of your life total per second as fire damage. With a fully levelled vitality and the life regeneration passive points, you have 11.05% life regeneration, which will net you a total of 0.25% life regeneration. Using The Blood Dance unique boots, and 6 frenzy charges, you get an additional 6% life regeneration. Add in rejuvination totem, the life leech gem on incinerate, and the 8 life gained per hit for spells on Cybil's Paw unique, you are able acquire a very high life return.

All non-unique gear is meant to have as much life, resistances and armour as possible, as well as strength and intelligence. The more intelligence you get on gear, the less passive points you need to waste on +30 intelligence nodes.

Your righteous fire should be in your weapon swap with ideally an item with +1 level of gems and +2 level of fire gems to maximize on the spell damage multiplier on righteous fire.

Flasks are very important on this character. A Seething hallowed life flask of Dousing is required for dangerous situations. It both gives instant life return, and turns off righteous fire until you recast it, making it act as a pseudo life-over-time flask. The ruby flask also acts as a life-over-time flask since it increases your fire resistance to 98%, making the damage from righteous fire negligable for 4.2 seconds. I decided to use both a granite and jade flask since when combined they give you a very large armour boost. +20 charges on a jade flask is necessary as it provides 2 uses. I have curse removal on my granite flask, since curses like vulnerability make you take more damage from righteous fire and cause you to get stunned more since you don't get unwavering stance, meaning it is harder to leech life. If you don't have 40 overcapped fire resistance, it may be good to have curse removal on another flask since elemental weakness and flammability can be quite damaging as well.

Damage Scaling and ability to do end game content

The character has 6038 life, 435 strength, 77 lightning and cold resist, and 88 fire resist. With a lvl 18 incinerate, the tooltip DPS for it is 646.7. When attacking an enemy at point blank, it gets hit by 5 projectiles, and when incinerate is at stage 4 it does 4 times as much damage. Adding in the 3000 DPS from righteous fire, the character can do more than 15000 DPS. It can successfully do any map mod, yet some are difficult. No regen and -maximum resistances make it so you cannot run righteous fire, while half regen and vulnerability make it difficult to use it. I was able to do an extra damage residence map boss with no deaths (first stage of dominus to anyone who doesn't know). Without righteous fire, I was able to tank his attacks and (slowly) kill him. Every boss is doable with this character, and some are trivialized by its ability to tank (such as spider forest, jungle valley and most importantly crematorium map boss)

Skill Tree (Level 92)

Explaining the build and the gameplay.
Spoiler

Auras Used : Hatred + Grace
Massive damage and Damage reduction to be able to do any map mod besides blood magic of course. Can do Physical Reflect + Vulnerability. Uses 4 Endurance Charges, 5 Frenzy Charges, 5 Power Charges.

Normally I run around with Added Fire Damage on both of my slots, Which is fine but I normally Switch them out for Life Leech during a Reflect Physical Map just incase of running into a Double Reflect Pack which regardless I can still do, due to my high level already its good to be safe ;). There is barely no difference in clear speeds though.

Flickering into the middle of mobs and Spectral Throwing them down + Running Hatred just instantly shatters mobs. Double Strike can be for bosses if you don't feel like using Spectral Throw both are viable for boss kills, choice is yours.

Suggested Tips for running the build.
Spoiler
Keeping up all your charges, which shouldn't be a problem AT ALL, simply cause you'll be in the front lines all the time with your flicker strike/lightning warp. Will give you maximum damage output and survivability.

Hi Guys,

This is my Version of HvR's Crit LA/Frenzy Build. It was my second Domination Char and the first to beat the game on Domination with.

The Character is Lvl 82 Ranger: Xol_traxex

The Character utilizes a strong combinaton of defensive mechanisms and the ever so powerful LA/Frenzy combo to clear high level maps with minimal gear.

defense:
The High defensive capabilities of this Characer originate from 3 Sources:
- decent lifepool
- Eldrich battery + Mind over Matter
- Lightning Coil Desert Brigadine Unique
(- Arctic Armour as soon as the Mana Regen is high enough to support it)

Allowing the Character to convert/mitigate 70% of incoming Physical damage. To further support this, ia m using a Purity of Lightning to mitigate the converted damage further and reduce the chance of getting shocked.

The offense capabilities originate from the High Crit Multiplier coupled with lightning damage to shock-stack enemies. I am NOT planing to use Voltaix Rift, as HvR Suggests because Physical Damage is easier to scale and i feel that a good Harbinger Bow will be the best endgame weapon.

The state of the game is somewhat depressing at the moment. Chris, please consider the kind of mindset you are imbuing into players "If your build is widely used regardless if it is actually overpowered, it will be nerfed to the ground"

We're happy for builds to be overpowered and awesome. We're not happy for people to be able to proc full effectiveness defensive spells four times per second with no mana cost. Based on our testing, the changes in 1.0.1 help curb the abuse case while keeping the CwDT gem at a decent power level. We will definitely keep looking at data and feedback so that we can make further changes to it as needed.

Edit: Let's try to keep this thread about the build submissions. There are other appropriate places to discuss the balance changes. Thanks!

And why wasn't it tested before it was released? You always go for the easy answers and ignore the difficult ones.

Season 2, Episode 3 Build Submissions!
Episode 3 is about pure power. Submit a build that trivializes our hardest content. We're looking for characters that dominate high-level Maps and use interesting combos to do so.

Be sure to hype to the max how easy it is to make 74+ maps a solo walk in the park so that Chris and company will know that they need to nerf your build.

What's with you of late GGG? Why in the world are you not wanting ingenious players to have great end game builds? You made the passive tree huge and great. You have lots of skills and supports and keystones. So let us experiment forever and when we discover an uber build please don't nerf it.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

they should just implement console into the game tbh, so you can just give yourself invulnerability, that way you can make the build you want and play with it as you like

I guess what I am trying to say is I hope they nerf the build I am using,it deserves it and it also takes the fun out of playing PoE, it was fun coming up with it and making it work, but knowing that no content challenges gets very old very fast

what's up with players of late? nerfing players makes the content more challenging and fun, bringing abilities in line with each other opens up more paths that are viable, the fun is finding the uber build, not playing it, the fun is the challenge not going back to level 3 areas and stomping mobs, there is no fun in every character using the same ability, this is why phase run was removed, this is why CwDT was changed, this is why auras were changed, to increase the fun for us players
