I think this would mean tons of work for the "art/visual department" and also additional resources needed. Of course, that's not official information, just my opinion. : )
I would love to see that kind of detail on a mob, but besides that it's time consuming to adjust each level of looks, it would also mean slower performance on different systems.

For example the health bars in D3 are as it should be. (one of the few good things about D3)
Of course, a simple red line which leaves a black/gray transparent line as life is taken would do as well.

Exactly, anything would work. And the fact is, this is not something that would take an incredible amount of effort to implement.

The option should really exsist at some time.

Bump. The game *really* needs this as an option. As should floating combat text.
Imo thats a must implement thing, especially in pvp where you can't see players health (neither player himself) while fighting in the midst of his minions (in case of summoner).
There should be options to on/off players health bar and mobs health bar to favor both pvp and pvm.

yea i would like to see that as a option you can toggle on or off if you want to (also the flowing combat text) i know the game artists might not to add this since they think it makes it look ugly but i think a fair portion of gamers would like that anyway and ppl that dont like the look of it just can keep this option off.

This topic needs to be relooked at.
Such a good idea/ needed feature for the game.

Could care less about seeing viper strike stacks, shock, burning, chilled/frozen on a mob, rather see health bars more then anything else.

Another thing that would be nice is combat logs. Rather then just having some imaginary ammount you are hit by, it would be nice to know why you are getting face rolled from certain things.

I like the idea and if health-bars are too bulky maybe make a slight aura around the monsters that change from green > yellow > red
