I think you are that stupid to be honest, he played a fresh Shadow on a new 1 week hardcore ladder and the build did just fine and he got some decent gear. That was only one week on a fresh league, so it shouldn't be so hard for us casual gamers to accomplish the same in a couple of months. Especially since there will be a lot more better gear for trade since the realm will be more saturated than a week old league.
@Invalesco: Just to clarify, my post was not intended as a criticism of you or your char (which is awesome!), but rather a criticism of how GGG picked a build that, in my opinion, can only be successful with excellent equipment. The "semi-decent" set of gear which you posted is much better than what I was able to achieve within a year of playing. But then again, I may be more "casual" than most players, or maybe I spread out my wealth across too many different chars because I want to try everything at once.

For the record, I think it's cool that you built the char in HC starting from scratch and in the HC world I guess it is somewhat unusual. Also, I don't think it's a "conflict" - I'm just discussing how BoTW subjects get picked. Hope I didn't ruin the experience for you, I understand that you're proud of your char just like we all are :-)

1: The dead thicket will continue to always have a chest.
2: The weaver's chamber will not always have a chest, along with the White beast.
3: Now there can be a larg chest in any zone, meaning there could you could find -/+ 75 larg chests in a single day.

are you saying this is a downgrade?
edit: also what is you increased item rarity rating? because i have a tendency to get 5-6 rares per boss drop.

it is kind of a nerf by the fact, that The Cave (and Dweller's place before) were relatively easy to reach and farm (I also liked it) ^^
Now, you can everywhere meet a chest, but no place left to go where you get one guaranteed... by this change, the easiest area, as small as possible, will be the best now to fully explore in the hope of a chest. We'll see how rare they will be, if its worth farming dungeons...

As I understand it, the series is to show extraordinary builds, builds that show what things may be possible/viable you barely thought about; and that may include strong main-line builds equal to cross-routings (with passives over the half map) or just builds that may need very high grade or specialized gear (like the unarmed one needs a Facebreaker and other equip that supports it). IMHO, nothing wrong here - especially since this game want to be slightly hard, what should a more or less casual build show at such a presentation?

the dead thicket will still have a 100% chance of chest, so that's still farmable.

The chest change is good for the normal people, bad for the farmers (I for one always clear out the area before going to the next).
I still remember the beta-key timer.

As do I. I just go through an area and clear it, kill the boss and always fun to see what pops out of the chest. Now it's just crap. Have to rely on RNG if a bloody chest will even drop. Oh boy, the GGG boys are learning their lessons well from Blizz and D3...
