For example, I have tried this particular build in a previous patch and it is quite ineffective with mediocre equipment.

I hope that in the future, the build of the week will feature builds with more down-to-earth equipment. That will appeal to a much broader range of viewers and not just people who have 6-linked armors with 1k ES.

Sorry to disappoint all of you folks who have an allergy towards godly gear :(

But do let me try and change your minds regarding this build :)

This very same build with these semi-decent gear with nothing >4L managed to reach level 77 within 80 hours of gameplay:

The above equipment were mostly attained at the 40 hour mark at around level 54 with the exception of the chestpiece and boots which were at around 60.

This very same build, character and gear doing a level 64 Map in HC.

Level 64 Coves Map Run

As you can see ptt_frmr, I did this exact same build in hardcore and had no problems whatsoever. It was in a HC race, so I had to start out with nothing in my stash. I'm sorry that you had problems with this build and that you found it ineffective. Could it perhaps be that you just did not utilize it's strengths and protected it's weaknesses accordingly?

I understand it's a difficult build to master and achieve and it's not totally your fault. Hence I did include some tips in my guide, you might find it useful :)

It's not Chris' fault he chose my better-geared up character. He gave me a choice to submit either Invalesco or Keiianved. It was just my own vanity at preferring to have my better-geared up character being submitted instead. After all, I did spend more time building different characters in default and accumulating enough wealth to purchase equipment I felt was appropriate for my main... hence I did not submit my HC shadow instead.

In hindsight I probably should have realised that people tend to not like to see godly gear on characters that aren't theirs... :(

Edit: I do believe that this build is incredibly hard to achieve in Hardcore. Since 1 and a half months ago, I am still the all-time 2nd highest Shadow in Hardcore and the highest CI Melee character in Hardcore. I might have been the only CI Melee in HC during my time as well. There are more CI melee chars trying to do HC now but they might in part be due to my promoting of this build. I would love to see more melee CI shadow characters in HC.

Trust me when I say that this build is very tough to build in HC. No average joe can achieve it. Do try it for yourself if you don't believe! :p

Gratz on the BotW, Invalesco. Awesome watching flicker-frenzy part. Too scared myself of flicker-desync to try it hardcore.

Calm down, guys. There're many weeks to go, and there will many more builds to see.

It's alright... judging from most of the comments most people do think the same thing as well and I don't blame them to be honest.

At least if they do voice out their frustrations perhaps that'll give me a chance as well to address them and perhaps win them over if possible :)

Mmmm... making a post patting yourself on the back doesn't really help the situation... just sayin...
The Pope quit, a meteor fell on Russia, an
asteroid came close to the earth, there's snow
in Arizona, star wars and star trek have the
same director! Who the hell is playing jumanji?

well... what is the situation? :/
i'm not aiming to pat myself on the back you know. If I had wanted to I could have just posted all this right from the start at the beginning of both the botw14 threads and this announcement thread and spared myself all this..

I'm just defending my character (which i'm very proud of) and addressed ptt_frmr's points, namely:

"
1. In my opinion, showing characters with such ridiculously good equipment provides a skewed impression of how useful the builds actually are. For example, I have tried this particular build in a previous patch and it is quite ineffective with mediocre equipment.

By proving that this character was effective in HC with ordinary gear

"
2. I hope that in the future, the build of the week will feature builds with more down-to-earth equipment. That will appeal to a much broader range of viewers and not just people who have 6-linked armors with 1k ES.

By showing that this build of the week character was replicated in HC with down-to-earth equipment and that it was my fault that the better geared char got featured instead.

"
"Crossflip wrote:
3. builds that succeed in doing something that would be hard for everyone or for that particular character

By explaining that this build is indeed hard to replicate.

All in all, I've said my piece. This is my last post in this thread. Don't want this thread, which should be an announcement about an awesome upcoming patch to be ruined by a silly conflict..

To be honest, I'm just a little disappointed really.. If I had known that there would be this backlash I probably wouldn't have tried for BotW. I probably won't try again in the future anyway. I just hope that this episode doesn't prevent future build-creators from submitting theirs.

That's all from me. Cheers

P.S. if any of you guys would like to continue this, please let us take it somewhere more secluded, like in the shadow forums for instance. I think everyone would appreciate that

Chris, it's very exciting to see so many new skill gems. But please, can you make the Gem Rewards a bit more diverse? I'm seeing a lot of the same gems over and over across all difficulties...

I wouldn't say that's semi decent gear, that's very decent gear. It's just not top of the line yet, but better than most can hope to achieve in like, since the wipe.

Agreed. I don't know why Invalesco thinks he can bullshit us... Does he think we're THAT stupid???

Yeah, and since the wipe, I've only seen mostly crap drop. I'm noticing a very disturbing pattern emerging...
