Shrine of Exile
You realize that this idea is essentially equivalent to converting items to maps? This slight transformation might provide some insight regarding balance and possible issues.
For instance, these shrines should be slightly less common compared to maps, as they represent a more predictable, more easily accessible (because it may be within a non-map area, e.g. allowing "portal zerging") and more efficient map, but not to an extreme extent plus you can't do them whenever you want. Another idea comes to mind: e.g. you could "create" your own boss at the end of some maps (if they have the "shrine" affix) in a similar fashion. |

" How would this be turning items into maps? Unless you mean by having the potential to get a map drop off of the shrine boss, which while it'd be nice, it is in no way a guaranteed map and wouldn't necessarily have a higher map drop rate than anything else with the capability to drop them. (Unless GGG decides otherwise) While I agree that it should be a fairly rare encounter, it would be somewhat easier than finding maps due to the ability to spawn anywhere in the game, in any difficulty. I would love to see a "Shrine" mod than can spawn on maps, that would be amazing. :) It would have to have an incredibly low quantity bonus though, due to the buffing of the boss. I said that it is equivalent (NOT equal). This means it does work the same way. That is: You put in an item, a dungeon/boss/whatever spawns. I did not try to alter your idea; I just found something equivalent to craft some theory for its balancing.
As for the rarity: Sorry for my bad explanation, I intended it to be slighty more rare than maps in areas where they are able to drop. Thus it will be a lot less rare compared to maps overall. Regarding the "shrine" mod: it should be rare and not have any quantity bonus whatsoever. Heck, there are so many things you could do with this; imagine "twin boss"-shrines (if you happen to have a "2 bosses"-mod at the same time). |
|
" A way to keep twinned shrine maps from being abused, could be to only make the shrine a boss option in maze maps. However, I'm not sure how well that would work with it having a random chance to spawn in any map. All in all, I think it would be simplest to just leave it at a random chance to spawn, in any map. While I do kinda like the idea of being able to set it as a mod on maps, after considering it for a bit, it would be horribly abusable. Alts are easy to come by and honestly, it's nothing to reroll a map until it gets a single mod that you like, practically free even. Lost in a wonderful world of VGM covers.

Hi i like the idea. only thing im thinking of is the 8-15 min reset of maps. So you spend time finding this shine, call in friends, and woop 8-15 gone along with shine.
This is my only concern other wice, nice idea. would indeed be fun. |

Very interesting. Hope developers would release this in game! I really anticipate o see such feature))

|
Looking forward to this, hope devs will make it happen :)

" That's not really an issue with it though, since you can stay in the instance while you call your friends in, to keep the instance open as long as it needs to be. Thanks for the continued support everyone, I hope to see this on the project list in the future, maybe sometime after OB is launched. :) Lost in a wonderful world of VGM covers.

Hope this awesome idea is still an explorable option. The more ways to utilize surplus uniques, the better.
