If you link him to a quality Cast on Death after summoning him, the game rechecks his links when transitioning levels like auras. This means he'll get +60% increased AOE and +304% more damage. If GGG removes snapshotting, I see this as the next OP way to do Zombies (melee splash) and Spectres.

Mind blown! Sometimes I like to 6L my AG in my tab and let him solo lunaris piety...Oro sword, infernal mantle, hrimnor hat, blood dance, ondar gloves. AG-Multi-Faster-WED-splash-min dmg...but giving this guy COD over min dmg WOW. He kills piety in like 10-15secs as it is, homeboy is not messing around if you put eleweak/flam up for him. He solo'd a coves map in 6mins by himself, took down the boss and a random rogue exile at the same time. He has full time frenzy charges up, sadly he will not share with unique conduit gloves.

Dying breath/leer/zahn is better support, I run 3curses so I will be switching back to that...but it's fun to spend ~5Chaos to watch this guy solo things.

cast on death doesnt work for minions.

Yes i wouldn't use zombies without this great gem. Perhaps only take it out if i would do a physical reflect map. They just kill themselves in those maps.
Actually am trying something new.

For my grasp summoned zombies am going MeleeSplash: it really synergies well with the infernal blow component.

For my regular zombies I summoned them without meleesplash, all u have to do is insert another gem (remote mine or something) and you have half your zombies as single target ones.

Wouldn't make more sense doing it the other way?

Splash on normal zombies and more damage on montregul ones. Your big zombies would hit even harder, increasing their chances to proc the on kill effect, and also more single target damage (due to same multiplier on higher base)
