Did I ever say there should be no penalty?
You despise the current penalty, so what else is there?
The game cant punish you by implementing repair costs, neither can it just make currency vanish from your stash. So the only way it can punish you efficiently is by taking a chunk of your exp. And if you ask me 15% seems appropriate.
How about all equipped gear reduces 5% quality, flask 2% and gems 1%?
I also play HC- for a high level SC player a death = 1 day but for a HC a death = 1 week+

Brilliant! The new allocation systems sound spot on. Can't wait!
(but the awesomeness better be something else)

Very disappointed that you gave in for the casuals. Very, very disappointed.
Won't be playing for a week now to boycott this decision. (Not that anyone cares, but still)
Is this the start of the slippery slope for GGG that they've been warned about? Only time will tell...
oh for sure it is. I already have torch light 2, i dont need more generic arpg. Poe was different, not so much anymore, I think this change to be more like other games really sets PoE back and makes the problems of the game become more glaring.
just look at many of the responses from people supporting this:
'great change...now we change (xp loss on death/drop rates/some other core system)'.
Hey...is this thing on?

this is bad chris. you are pussying out on this one. teenagers cry because they cant loot fast enough on maps the 6sockets so you just give into them. thats bad. i really had respect for ggg but the past few months its down the hill. keep this up and you will start losing players and the only people that will stay will be A) the most hardcore that are bored out of median xl and play this because there is no other game to play B) children that like to play games like diablo3 where the devs make everything to make the game as casual as possible
this was supposed to be a game for hardcore players, not for kids. with this changes to loot, you made this game for kids.
Grow up and stop acting like an elitist kid

change the map to maker to get ALL maps and not just white please chris
you should at least add one reason for it, gollum
Maker
- chips in map
- rolls it with currency
Leecher
- does nothing except for being there and doing something 100 other people would be willing to do
- easily exchangable
You as a leecher already get currency, item drops and exp from not investing a single dime. What makes you think youre entitled to get the maps as well?
the map owner gets more quantity from his map and faster xp because the map is done more quickly. leechers are expected to open maps later on. otherwise the map group will not last for long.
my decision to help map creators with their maps entitles me to find maps in his maps.
with your points i see no reason for you to run map groups at all.

Oh for the love of God don't give in to casuals.. There are SO MANY casual games out there for people to play. Can we have just one hard core game?

Please GGG relase this path now :O
"Is there such a thing as an absolute, timeless enemy? There is no such thing, and never has been. And the reason
is that our enemies are human beings like us. They can only be our enemies in relative terms."

They are pissed, plastic HC gamers.
Pissed that they can no longer prey on people that don't share their ninja tendencies.
Pissed that they will now be more ninja-able themselves by being required to group with ninjas, to ninja.
This 'blahh casual' is nothing but a cloak to attempt to divert their butthurt casual self who is shaking in their boots at having to group with people they pretend to be.

There are other ways to punish death than make your last play session completely meaningless.
And what would those be? Because from what I can see noone of you actually provides ideas. You simply say "I dont like it, remove it".
Remove it?
Nahh, but have it scale correctly.
People play HC because they like the idea of a permanent death, if they refuse to continue on default.
I play default so I can continue if I die, in the same league as all my characters, friends and family. It also means I don't have to completely avoid a challenge, rather take it on and sometimes lose. I'll likely have a character on default with no deaths higher than most people on HC, and I'm 100% self found and play in gear dependent or difficult builds.
Different strokes for different folks.
The thing is, once into the high 80's, the difference between the 2 leagues is lost, in as much as, even on default you need to play as if you were playing HC. It doesn't matter that it's perm death v days /played. The outcome is the same as far as avoiding challenge is concerned.
I don't think the game should have only one option, that being 'avoid challenge' at high lvl.
Casually casual.

Wow.. It's called competition.. Y'know, where people play a game and there's a winner and some losers. People are too soft nowadays.
