Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?
" What's weird is that even with that many people pointing out that you may be wrong, you refuse to even consider this possibility. I don't think PoE2 is a game that you like now and that you will like in the future, so really, I do think you should just stop your crusade and move on. It's better for you, and for us, and maybe for the game too. Peace. |

One-death per map HAS TO GO.
Along with the exp penalty, this two things are intertwined. If the allowed gameplay includes such as when you are about to die you can pause the game and log out (people vastly abuse this feature as seen on countless streams/youtube videos) then the whole thing has ZERO meaning and is only there to punish/anger the mediocre player making them to drop the game faster - which is not a good thing for any of us. |

One thing I find interesting is that the XP penalty complaints are often accompanied by complaints about on death effects and one shots that couldn't possible be foreseen. Frankly I don't understand this, everything is forecast in some manner. I can't think of a time where I died where I didn't know exactly (or was reasonable sure) what had killed me. Also if you don't like on death effects stop remaining static on top of enemy corpses... People too lazy to adapt their play style to the in game challenges and cover all their defensive bases then complain and ask for the whole game to be dumbed down. Removing challenge from the game devalues the entire experience (thats not to say there isn't QOL issues with POE2) Also the death penalty is only felt from 90 - 100... So what are people complaining about that they're not being handed 100 for free?

" sounds like you need to quit complaining and get good so you can actually play hardcore. Are you to lazy and unwilling for the challenge? To dumb to ask and just complaining? I play hardcore everyday and its called dealing with people like you in person. Comments like you always come with this sense of superiority and yall never play hardcore. Been here forever and by all accounts appear to still be terrible at the game. Why are you still not playing hardcore, seems like you must be really good at the game with all this experience. And you literally dont play so how are you even able to oomment on this? Its insane how terrible of takes individuals like yourself have on this. " Lost a 1200% juiced to the bones Copper Citadel yesterday because of a client crash at 10% on boss. Logged back in and I was dead. Not only did I lose 3 hours of farming, I also lost 8 Divine. Both of the mentioned mechanics are HORRID to the overall quality of life of the game and need to be gone. |

" So do you think you have the skills yourself? I did check your profile, and you have no level 100 characters. As for hardcore ones, you don't even have a single level 80 (but you have an achievement for getting 70 in hardcore so you definitely tried it). Maybe you shouldn't be talking that much about skill and trying to shut everyone up in every single XP loss on death thread, because it seems you are the one that needs to 'git gud' first (judging by your own words). |

" 80%+ are bots, look at how the low stays so high. Remember when people said lost ark had a bunch of players until they did a massive bot cull. Last edited by Karishin#7986 on Jan 11, 2025, 2:03:23 PM

People would stop complain about death penalty if their maps could give more exp. Because generally their complaint means "we need too much time to reach 100".
And we really do need way too much time. Right now breach gives a couple million exp at best because maps are way too narrow (like crypt, slick and others of this kind). So breach can't spawn many monsters. While breach on large maps can give a few times more exp. If all the maps were like Steppe (a lot of open space) the majority of the players would stop whining. But right now i am about to join them too, becasue i got killed on a level 96 by "on death" in very narrow passage between walls, where I couldn't even see monsters left their "on death". I'm not going to run away from every single group of monster I killed, to guarantee my safety, so, they actually have to get rid of narrow maps or "on death" or exp loss. They can't have all that in the same time. |

Thinking about uninstall, since I'm damn stuck at lvl 88 for last 3 days, spending all my exalt to somehow deal with that sweet "penalty"
No currency increase, no ways to improve my build apart from "Alwa gambling" Seriously, screw it |

" This isn't really an argument. "Old = bad" holds 0 merit. " This could be a better argument, but I honestly don't understand what you mean by "gamble" here. What exactly is the gamble? "Well, it punishes the player for playing the game "wrong" (whatever that means to the developers). "It's punishment for death if you have progress toward the next level. If you don't, you can't lose a level, so it effectively doesn't exist if you try a boss then. This is similar to what you might do in a Souls game. I know that probably isn't the most satisfying response, I'm simply putting the thing into perspective. But you're absolutely right that it's not a challenge. It's not meant to be. It's an obstacle. Like a speed bump. The speed bump isn't there to challenge your ability to get over it. It's literally there to slow you down. " I still just don't get what you think the gamble is. " It's actually really disingenuous to compare this to Hardcore. "Any punishment at all for death" is not equivalent to Hardcore. Losing 10% of your progress to the next level is orders of magnitude from losing your entire character. |
