" Doesn't that defeat the purpose of SSF? Or isn't that just a totally different thing? I hate to say it, but, you seem so adverse to a private league, yet it is exactly what you are asking for, and SSF by definition is "solo". You say SSF needs help with item drops, but there's a lot of people that are level 90+ with good builds that have already defeated the pinnacle. I think players expectations are just too high. " the way it is right now is some builds/skills are simply overperforming. for example, asmongold he just made a summoner build and simply raised his shield up whenever enemies seemed to pose a threat. he rarely ever dies. compared to bonking enemies with a mace the difference is just plainly huge. what people are playing is what works ONLY because GGG went away for the holidays. expect nerfs and reworks. metas are an eventuality that WILL happen regardless of developer intentions but from how i see it, in path2 ggg is putting a lot of effort to make the gap between shitty builds and optimized ones be more closer rather than the huge gap we have in poe1. the only reason why you're comfortable saying what you're saying is because you're of the mindset of following the best builds. to many arpg fans, we DETEST being forced to follow builds. not everyone loves just following builds that others have made. i dont look down on you nor anyone else for following builds. making your own builds and discovering the game to some is part of the enjoyment of the game. whether or not ggg indeed wants to cater to these players is a different story and their decision. the reason why i say you are gatekeeping is because all you're doing is akin "just follow a build guide", which is more of using a crutch to play the game rather than addressing the game's problem with balance. its fine to disagree but you dont get to tell others how they should play. maybe you could say that in poe1. but this is poe2 EA. things are still malleable. enjoy your meta builds while you can. " Whether or not I can play in a group does not alter my experience of being self found for my gear. It does alter the experience of whether or not I can play with my friends. I will not forfeit the ability to play in a group of friends to get a self found league. I do not want solo. Only self found. Private leagues are not remotely close to what I want. It costs money. Multiplayer self found league should not cost money. It's temporary. Your access ends after a finite duration. I want the same continuous, ongoing, entire lifespan of the game, standard league / challenge league system offered by trade and ssf, with multiplayer sf. For effectiveness and balance, "possible" is not the point. Comparison between a ssf character and trade character is. *CAN* I get through ssf and beat pinnacle? Yes. And without using any kind of guide to boot. It is not difficult to figure out a good build. It would be wholly unsurprising to make a build entirely on my own and find out later it exactly matched some guide or streamer I didn't know about. Will the character I beat pinnacle with in ssf be massively weaker than my equivalent trade league character, and go through the entire process with substantially higher difficulty and substantially slower progression, due to being weaker? Also yes. Sooner or later I need the next gear upgrade. The same upgrade, regardless of whether I'm playing the build on trade or ssf. On ssf it will take as many minutes, hours, days, weeks, as rng makes it take. On trade it will take 30 seconds. My progress in ssf should not be halted for substantial amounts of time because I'm at the point of waiting for rng to allow me to upgrade. I won't even be able to equip the rarity modifier on anything until it happens to roll, whereas on trade all the rarity gear I have worth equipping, I bought before the economy went to shambles. And it's still not even good rarity gear, it's just not below the bottom of the barrel. The challenge of ssf is just supposed to be that you did everything alone. Not that you played so many extra hours to get the same upgrade. |

magic find, makes your build worse
you need to sacrifice something to get magic find, so as result you will probably be less efficient clearing maps. it looks bad because someone doing a map with magic find gets more than another person doing that same map, but people are not considering that clearing that map could have took longer for the person with magic find or that if he invested in something else that was not magic find he could be doing harder maps. |

" The diminishing return of having more combat stats falls off vs rarity. At some point you get no tangible time increases anymore. MF is cancer, it should be its own unique slot or talent tree so people can work towards it without forcing builds to optimize for mf on gear since that is BiS. |

Magic Find is it's own stupidity added by Diablo 2 and somehow survived decades. Ask anyone who played Barbarian in Diablo 2 if they had Gulls and Item Find. Obviously they do.
That wasn't a game that adapted to analytics though like PoE, Warframe or any other live service game. They take these options into consideration when designing loot tables. The only reason MF affected trade at all is because GGG let things like MF + Cull exist. Outside idiotic concepts like that they're not really related. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

Actually let's get rid of all the affixes and drop/craft only perfect gear for you class. Actually, let's remove gear from the game and only have a build tree. Or maybe just remove the game itself and give players a "you win" screen when you open the game. Ye, that's the solution right there. |
