This patch is frankly unacceptable.

please I saw youtube videos of how abusive this was... trying to justify it... this isn't PoE1 stop trying to make it PoE1...
I think this kind of interaction is great when you have to earn it through acquiring the right gear, uniques, gem quality etc; like it was in Poe1, not by simply slotting in a gem.

There are likely going to be items in the game that make it work the way it was before the nerf, just give the game time to develop and lets not rush our way into 10 years of PoE1 power creep before the end of week 1.

Buddy, I was just responding in kind. Don't get all up in arms because I'm not providing feedback for your shitty take that grenades have zero depth.

I agree, PoE is all about depth. Expecting EA to have as much depth as a game with 11 years of content bloat is just weird. Give it time. Then throw a fit. Saying you want more is fine. Saying this is pointless and sucks and is so much worse than PoE1 because they dismantled an archetype you liked is useless.

There was some depth and they are in the process of removing any that is there in order to appeal to D4 Andys or because they actually hate game design or whatever their motivation is.

that's the entire point of my criticism. There was a build with some depth and now they are removing it for no reason.

My entire build was invested in making it work. Mob Ailment thresholds were already overtuned. I have every shock chance and magnitude source the game will let me have. It wasn't even OP, it was literally just a playable build that revolved around a mechanic other than selfcasting a spell to deal hit damage.
This is pretty simple...

If we don't like it, leave some feedback and walk away. GGG cares about only a few things: artistic vision, feedback, and player numbers. We have power over two out of those three.

Personally, I was fine with this being toned down. However, it's been taken from just strong (Cast on Freeze) to completely unplayable. I can't speak for others, but I don't have time to re-roll another character right now, so it's better to just sit this one out.

We all want PoE2 to succeed, and support GGG experimenting with big changes -especially during EA. So don't freak out. Just leave constructive feedback, then decide if you want to play this iteration.

grow up people. its an early access game. of course they are going to make changes. things are going to get nerfed. things are going to get buffed. you'll just do what you always do and follow the next streamer build. so just wait until they figure out the next one button build for you to play

Thanks for intentionally missing the point and providing no actual counterpoint to anything I said.

I literally crafted my build from scratch, poring over all the info I could find pre-release and testing dozens of things during the campaign. I was trying to find any build that wasn't just boring selfcast combo bullshit.

Nobody wants to rotate 5 fucking skills on every pack of white mobs. Actual POE players who aren't just copy-pasting builds to get loot dopamine play for the depth and interesting mechanics. We had an interesting mechanic and they are removing it. They will probably keep doing it until every build is just a different skin on top of "I cast these 3 skills to deal big hit damage".
OP stuff or stuff that works well is fun in this type of game. I really don't understand why devs these days are hellbent on nerfing everything that works. It's a pve game, not a competitive pvp game. Who gives a shit if things are overpowered? That's the whole point of the genre, making op builds to wreck shit up.

I see how having builds that 1-2 hit stuff and kill bosses in less than 1-2 mins trivializes the whole "action combat, dodge roll, constantly dancing around npcs" gameplay they're trying to sell but... honestly, i'd rather have poe1/d4 gameplay than dancing around stuff like a spaz for hours on end avoiding their little attack patterns and then patting myself on the back pretending it was "hard" rather than simply boring and time consuming for no real reason.

The vast majority of people play these games to chill and farm. I finished the campagin and was half way through doing it again, cast on freeze comet made it bearable, it was a slog tedium before that, and it's gone back to being a piece of shit now. Overall.. i'm not even mad, just bored, which is probably worse.
Does feel like they want to make the game slower than D4 release...

POE 1 is litterally, in my opinion, the best video game ever made.

I'm not trying to "make it poe 1". It's not about what you saw on youtube. It's not about my build or your build or anyone's specific build.

It's about the design philosophy. I get that 90% of people's engagement with video games is just watching sprites on the screen turn into other sprites on the screen and copy+pasting builds but I like complex and deep game design.

50 different skills that are all just variations of "do big hit" with different animations is not complex or deep game design.

Cast on Shock was just a playable build. It wasn't that crazy. I have no idea what to even re-roll because all I see are boring skills that you just selfcast to deal hit damage and that's it. We also have boring skills you selfcast to deal some dot damage based on hit damage. Wow. Riveting game design.
