What happened to Chris Wilson?

If the three directors sold their shares and their souls for "money" then there you have it, their loyal players and the fate of their legacy that you criticize so much today. Unfortunately MONEY can corrupt the purest soul and the best intentions in this world, so all of you who complain about the drift that Poe 1 is suffering already know who you have to point out as guilty... they have sold us all for a handful of millions of dollars, so be aware once and for all that what has always interested GGG as any other company is money, to a greater or lesser extent, but now it is clear after the situation you are living. I still love Poe and Poe 2 and I think that at least Poe 2 still has a lot to prove but well, most of you open a thread every day to complain about the state of abandonment of Poe, so here they have introduced you to the three people most responsible for it.
Daaammmmmm Selling all youre shares and then POE2 got 1 million keys bought on the beta MINIMUM $30 = 30 million Minimum revenue ......

Not including higher tier supporter packs

must feel shit to have sold out early and then sit and watch all that cash roll in

I wouldn't feel sorry for them...they cashed in large. Besides the sales of EA keys are for operations, none of that goes to employees, and they are all employees now.

Whatever amount it was is chump change to 10cent. Small potatoes really.

Which spirit? When Chris decided to nuke Exalts and swapped to Divines? That spirit when he basically stated that he doesn't care about the players?

Nothing changed, either with or without Chris. Leagues always have been hits and miss.

paraphrasing his response to standard players who lost a huge amount of value due to the switch

"you should have diversified your investment".

i used to love the guy until he said that with a seemingly tongue in cheek attitude.

on adjacent topic. i was one of GGG's defenders who kept defending them, whenever people kept saying "GGG promised that poe2 would not affect poe1" i kept telling them. no, you're misremembering. this is what ggg said about ruthless NOT poe2 v poe1.

in fact i challenged people to find me proof of when GGG actually ever said that. and many have tried but failed. every clip people posted was of GGG carefully wording their statements saying something along the lines of "GGG will support POE1 as much as possible" without actually stating that.

then one fine day after being smug and pointing this out to people again, feeling confident that i m right and everyone else is wrong. someone actually gave proof.

in the clip, its chris, who actually says this. omfg lols

i've been wrong all the while. all this because of chris's promise.

in any case, despite me being not happy with him. i do understand and appreciate that he's candid with his responses. not everyone can stand infront of a mic and talk. but i would appreciate it more if more care was given to standard.

there were ways GGG could have helped standard players out.

they could have made standard only npcs such as perandus npc which could be rerolled at a cost. kept navali inside with easier ways to reroll all prophecies. an npc that sells divines for exalts and vice versa. kept alt quality gems as legacy gems. retained cluster passive nodes as legacy while introducing newer ones to replace the legacy ones on newer jewels.

but no. fuck standard.

and most of you temp loving poe1 players didnt give a flying fuck about standard. now that poe1 temp league is sidelined, suddenly you guys are all concerned.

asking for chris? chris was at the helm when standard got recklessly disrespected.

Chris Wilson is sitting in a elderly home eating baked Palm's Corn Beef mixed with coconut milk wrapped in Taro leaves with a side of Pavlova and sipping Mai Thai's to his hearts content. He has worked long and hard for his retirement.
Chris the adolescent in an adult body who says stuff like "You can look at this guy's gear and see he's better than you. That's an important part of the game to be able to see that." It's a miracle the game succeeded in spite of this childish D2-era elitist's influence. His team must have worked really hard.

Its funny but its clear that the vast majority of people who play games these days don't get the first thing about game design. Its why so many insist on auction houses and fast travel and eliminating all friction and consequences.

But then you make hundreds of versions of that EXACT GAME they are popular for a brief amount of time and then interest dies like D4, or Lost Arc. Then those non-gamers always end up playing games like POE that were made by people who get game design at least a LOT better than the know nothings who mock "the vision" because they're not knowledgeable enough to understand it. You see this pattern over and over through the years. All the brilliant D3 fans 3 or 4 days after every season, Lost Arc after an expack, D4 seasons its the same pattern. They have no idea what makes a game good, but they're here mocking the vision after having no clue why they quickly lost interest in the games that cater to them, but none the less are for some reason HERE.

Never once wondering why those games which tick every vapid casual gamer check box for them can't hold their attention.

The irony is fantastic.

Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.
