Continuous Stuttering/Lag Despite Stable FPS and Internet in PoE 2 Early Access
I think it was my brain doing stuff, the game works great now.

I was struggling massively to find a balance of performance and quality on a dated but good system (1080ti + intel 8700k) but upscaling through Xess is the winner.
Intel Xess (no scaling) + Dynamic Resolution + Geforce Filters Performance graphs show exceptionally healthy CPU stability, while off loading most of the work onto the GPU, like a normal game should. With other options the GPU is taking a vacation and the CPU is forever acting like its lost the plot when more assets come in and shaders are needed. Same issue here.
Things were mostly fine the first few weeks, but when I returned to play on the 30th I'm getting spikes every 4-8 seconds. OS: Windows 10 Home Version: 10.0.19045 Build 19045 Processor: AMD Ryzen 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU Driver: 24.12.1 Graphic drivers are up to date. |

All settings to the lowest, dlss ultra. 60 fps only in hideout, but can be lower. On maps fps can fall below 15..... FIX this GGG.

У меня сегодня начались проблемы. Персонаж двигается рывками, и греется процессор. Играю больше недели, все было нормально. Выставил пинг на 60, понизил качество, процессор не греется, но двигаюсь все равно скачками, хотя пинг 60 стабильно.

Hello. I have serious latency problem for the last few days. Spikes up to 2 seconds. My internet is fine. Hardware can handle 100+ fps.
|
|
Having same issue, been happening since around 1.0e got released but its far worse today and makes playing the game feel miserable.
I cant take 4 steps without having my latency spike up to 400ms. literally every four steps. i counted it. |

I see this has been an issue for quite some time now, for a lot of people. I also am experiencing stutters which happen at the same time as latency spikes. Allthough I like the game a lot, this issue affects the gameplay to such an extent that it is not enjoyable anymore.
Now I understand this is early access, but this kinda gamebreaking and there seems to be no action or response from the development team, which is really concerning. Hope this gets the proper attention... |

Heya! My friends and I looked into this a bit. We are all game developers, and it caught our interest, in particular mine because my PC sucks haha.
More information about the hitching here. Server latency, and CPU latency. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3656869/page/1#p25781622 The assumption we made is that it's related to an inconsistency between client and server collision detection/meshes, because a server nudge seems to occur during this moment. GPU seems unrelated, it's probably the client replaying a journal after a server nudge because they tried to walk over something that doesn't exist in the server collision. Just theories though, I couldn't know. Makes me wonder if clients use denser collision meshes for visual effect, but for some reason these IK/whatever effects for the player are affecting the player position, which gets invalidated by the server, so there's a CPU and network spike as the player repositions. |

I finally found a fix for the crazy lag spikes and figured my fix could possibly help others that have been having similar issues.
I did everything this thread had to offer. - I went through all of my config to adjust things - I did IP CMD commands Nothing worked at all. (Genuinely thought I would just have to wait until a patch that fixed it) MY PERSONAL FIX: (SUPER SIMPLE FOR ME) Legit I unplugged my modem and router manually. I let them sit unplugged for a good 20-30 minutes. Then I plugged both of them back in.... Everything was perfectly fine.. (The way all my games feel) Side note my IP CMD Commands "Potentially" could have helped> (IP commands): NETWORK FIX Win 10 & 11 ipconfig /release ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /renew and press Enter. (This will stall for a moment.) netsh int ip reset and press Enter. (Don't restart yet.) netsh winsock reset netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal I really do hope this helps! Even if its one person that benefits from this ill feel happy about it. Happy gaming doods! |
