Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

I agree with the OP. Looks great, but isn't the kind of game I enjoy. I quit in frustration on day 2, and I don't have the urge to restart with a different type of character. It's the gameplay (kiting, dodging, timing) that's just not my thing. Good luck to those who do enjoy it.
If they wanted a game more newb-friendly - they created the opposite.

Atm the game feels like work without payment (up to lvl 47) and i played PoE 1 for 12+ years and 25k+ hours.

Sanctum and Ultimatum (both high on my least fav leagues ever list) replacing the lab (that i also did not like that much) - what could go wrong esp for new players.

The 3rd missing option to get the ascendency-points will most likely be 4D-chess or a win against AlphaGO in under 5 minutes.

I have 50h,i have 38 years old, im dad, the game is hard, challanging, no one shoting bosses, rare monsters become challanging. Im dying a lot but im fucking hero dad.

the battles with bosses are epic, long and difficult. And im a little bitch to them, but i made to act 3. Last boss waiting.

I love souls like games

And you know ehat?

Im havin fun, this is the best arpg i played in my life.

Its like diablo 2 but more challanging with more fun mechanics.

So yeah, go cry and one shot maven, sirius and all ubers.

Im done with poe1 with my thousands hours, time for poe 2

The game is hard and slow and i fuckin love it. Keep up the good work devs.

If you dont like it? The diablo 4 for casuals are waitin or you can play animal crossing or... You can always play with ur nuts...

Cheers!

ps.

I love the sound of cracking casuals butts.
And this is happening now :)

Now that's just poor cope.

souls games are challenging, poe2 is just frustrating.

In souls games you have things like parry, backstabbing, poise to mitigate the boss difficulty. If you die you have to walk back to the boss, but there are shortcuts all over the place. Souls games start easy and increase difficulty as you progress. Poe2 starts bad and remains bad.
Uhm, you respawn directly before the Bosses if you die in PoE2. You can farm up more and try again later if you want.

Honestly if u havent played a character past lvl 14 u really havent given the game a fair chance at all. It actually does get easier once u get higher lvl and get ur skills and support gems up and running, Im almost lvl 70 now and im doing pretty damn well now with mediocre gear but i can definitely feel my char getting stronger with every lvl and gear upgrade i get

While I don't want to talk down to your experience, telling someone they need to not have fun for 10, 15, 20 hours just so they start having fun sounds like they won't have fun later on.

So many games have this "trust me bro, it gets better later" mentality and my only question is why can't it be good from the start when you have the highest chance of the customer leaving and never coming back?
Honestly act 1 should not take more than a few hours to complete maybe like 5-6 hours if u go slow. I understand some people dont like hard games and just want to be zoom zooming from act 1 but this game is clearly not for this type of people and i do in fact love it for not picking the easy mode just to satisfy the casuals. There are plenty of easy games out there like D4 that suits the casual players and i really dont need another poe 1, 1 button clear all screen game.

The thing people often do wrong is picking a class and expecting to be running their main skill from lvl but the truth is sometimes there are better options for clearing the early lvls and then switch to the skill u want to play later when u get the right gear and lvls. Besides this is still EA/Beta and a lot can still change along the way, we are not even done with week 1 yet.

I have 15k + hours of poe 1 but still i was never a fan of the whole zoom zoom playstyle with screenwide insta clear. I like having to work a bit and actually having to actively do something to avoid being killed by a boss instead of just insta killing before he can do any damage.

The Zoom style of POE1 came from the fact that endgame is where the content is for every new league. They have explicitly stated endgame is their goal and if they can get people to end game they can keep them. A long, hard campaign, unrewarding campaign runs counter to this goal. Even in POE2 the campaign will just be an annoyance beyond the first couple run throughs of it.
To be honest upfront, I didn't bother to read all of the replies, but I think that OP gave up to quickly. Once your build gets going (around act 3 for me), the game gets allot easier. And at this point, going into maps, everyone is already zooming around. So to me the game is not fundamentally too hard, it's just more of a learning curve/adjustment to get used to the bosses and mechanics in the beginning (especially coming from POE1, where we knew everything already. P.s., if you run act 1 and 2 with levelling gear (from a previous character), it becomes trivial.
