Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

Vote +1 to change Path of Exile to Path of Nerfs. We hate to say, but ProjectPT was right. Last edited by Hyskoa#4601 on Dec 7, 2024, 12:26:03 PM

" hcssf here, got through this boss and only 1 phase of the mist got hairy for me as I couldn't do enough damage to keep the temp monsters down (its quite easy if you can kill those monsters as they spawn). FYI the audio is the telegraph for his attacks btw, around 2 second after he says whatever you should dodge roll and you won't get hit. ya I didn't have much trouble with A1 overall using monk with essentially his default skills. I find monk plays really nice with C2M, qwert skills and remap dodge roll to right click. Last edited by AmpegV4#2473 on Dec 7, 2024, 5:01:32 AM

So far I am underwhelmed. It just feels very clunky to play with the character being sluggish and hard to make do what I want it to do and the constant dodge roll thing just seems annoying rather than fun.
From all the previews I thought WASD was going to be great but it doesn't work for me. I thought it was going to be a more dynamic, responsive style of gameplay but it's frankly just not very good. I don't mind a more Souls-like game and I like the idea of combat being more meaningful but this is not that. Hopefully it gets better further along and with more gear and I can work something out I like with non-WASD controls or using a controller. I am not the best gamer and have some physical disabilities so maybe it's just not for me. |

No! don't lower the difficulty !
You forget that this is a game ! you don't realy die ! one of the purpose of a game is to make you become better ! don't accept the idea that you are not good enough ! keep trying and learning. And i'm not an elitist! far from that! but I do like challenges and I do like evolving! I was there at Diablo 3 launch! Diablo 3 introduced the Inferno difficulty and it was really hard! I remember the fight against Mephisto! it was so hard everyone was rage quitting but I persevered with a German friend and after 6 hours of tries we finally got him it was so satisfying! But this high difficulty made a lot of people start complaining and unfortunatly after a short time we got the unfamous .03 patch ! it killed the game! the difficulty was dumped down, items rolls were changed (dumped down too) and slowly people started quitting I was among them. this started the downfall of Diablo 3. 2 years later out of curiosity I tried Diablo 3 again and what a surprise! there was no more difficulty! everything was dying so fast! you just needed to spam an aoe skill and roll on the map ! and this didn't make the game more attractive quite the opposite actually. there was no longer a lot of players not because the game was too hard but because it was now too easy ! I don't want this to happen to POE2 ! Challenges are fun if you take them for what they are: challenges ! and with time you will evercome them not because your character has become stronger but because you have become stronger! |

OK, so here's how I look at it. First of all, think about how many times have you died for the 1st time, when you've encountered Merveil, or Vaal, or even Dominus. Back in a days, when PoE was in Closed Beta (yeah, 12 years ago, I'm old :P) Dominus was a freakin' beast. He still is if you play bad.
What would be the purpose of doing PoE 2 if they would copy everything? None. Maybe some kind of remaster to make graphics better and that's it. PoE 2 is hard and PoE 1 was hard as well during Closed Beta. It was hard even during the full release when Act 10 appeared. Besides, a tip from me. On softcore it is beneficial to die. You wonder why? Here it is. ALL CHESTS ARE RESPAWNED, yes, the yellow ones with a good drop as well ;) |

Killed him first try without any problems with my own and far away from optimal build...with enough life and OKish stats on my gear the boss was relatively easy. ^^
Back to drawing board Equip better stuff Farm better stuff git gud L2P Learn meachanics Learn to dodge Pick one or all of the points above. Play & learn the game instead of whining that you can't faceroll all content few hours into a brandnew game....this is not D4 where even a ape who hit his head against the keyboard can beat 99% of the game. ;) Last edited by CroDanZ#1818 on Dec 7, 2024, 5:18:06 AM

8hrs in, and its a blast! Im half way through act1? (mausoleum) lvl 9. Taking it slow. Playing warrior with shield and mace, learning everything as I go. Died 10+ times. Dodging normal mobs stuff, learning new skills synergies - warcry, slam, boneshatter - booom. Feels so meaty when it hits and clears the mob pack. I'm really excited about how this looks and hope that devs will keep it in that direction. I like the soulslikeness of this one. It is a challange. Yet my friends in guild that have 1000+ hrs in poe1 just smash through the game like it was yet another poe1 season and say that they wipe the whole screen ez :)

I was fully expecting some people to try and play this game the same way they played PoE1 instead of engaging with it on its own terms, accepting the fact that it's different and learning to play it all over again. Seems I was right.
I mean, I've seen a steam reviewer complain that he couldn't facetank bosses half an hour in and refund the game. The game feels just right. It's not too hard in any way, and thus far, every time I have died it was on me, not some bullshit I could do nothing about like in PoE1. If I died - skill issue. As it should be. PoE1 wasn't ANY easier in beta btw, people will eventually find more optimal builds and approaches here too. Which will take time. Despite similarities to its predecessor, this is a new game. Maybe you should treat it as such if you feel like you can't zoom through it as easily as you can in poE1. |

There's a certain boss in Act 2 I won't spoil that I'm convinced is either a troll by the devs, or they accidentally put this boss as was designed 8 months ago, and not the current fixed version. You'll know her when you see her. The random spike in difficulty is out of nowhere, and isn't gradual either. It feels like Uber Lab .... and its in Act 2.
Coming from someone who didn't die on Act 1, most players are gonna hit Act 2 and just quit at this point. I hope this isn't the trend the entire way. End game should 100% be hard, but not Act 2 of a campaign... |
