Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

I find it hard to believe PoE 1 had to die for this.
I feel same way, OP. as I was playing through act 1 I had the feeling in the back of my mind "this is not really fun". The game is a slog atm. Hope it changes because there is no way in hell I am playing through this campaign more than once.

I have said it before; GGG has made POE 1 for how long? 2013 to 2024?

And they learned NOTHING. We are back to the exact same issue as was with EVERY single leage in POE 1, overpowered enemies with overpowered abilities.

For over 11 years GGG has developed POE and when making POE 2 you would imagine they would use all this experience from all what they gathered, analyse how the early game needs to be, how the mid and late game should play, and how strong enemies should be right?

They would also run a closed beta first and get a lot of input of the enemies and how everyone played and enjoyed the game, right?

Well either the big Streamers who got early beta access all had cheats, or built in god mode, as there is no way in HELL that they enjoyed this mess of a game with such overpowered and damage sponge enemies.

So GGG learned NOTHING from their previous programming experience and just threw everything together randomly? And according to Asmon and other streamers, this is the "Diablo killer".

YIKES!

Nobody better play Hardcore, cause rest in PEACE with this imbalance!

Though act 1 was a lot slower and tougher than I would prefer, and would probably have been overly slow and difficult for a good portion of it had I not gotten lucky crafting my weapon, I was having fun with it until Geanor.

The first half of Geanor was fine, while the second half just seems to be bullshit piled on top of bullshit. The mist phase has him doing untelegraphed bullshit that eats away large chunks of your life while he's invulnerable and you're just trying not to get bodyblocked or otherwise killed by the minion spam, and if you happen to luck your way through that part, he pretty much continuously spams massive area effects which, most of the time, there's nowhere near enough time to avoid.

If I wanted to play dark souls, I'd fucking play dark souls. Though frankly dark souls, which telegraphs consistently and doesn't spam shit so fast it can't be dodged, would be an improvement over some of this gameplay.
Fairgraves was a slave trafficker specialized in the kidnapping and transport of children. He was not "a good man".
.
Vote +1 to change Path of Exile to Path of Nerfs.
We hate to say, but ProjectPT was right.

hcssf here, got through this boss and only 1 phase of the mist got hairy for me as I couldn't do enough damage to keep the temp monsters down (its quite easy if you can kill those monsters as they spawn). FYI the audio is the telegraph for his attacks btw, around 2 second after he says whatever you should dodge roll and you won't get hit.

ya I didn't have much trouble with A1 overall using monk with essentially his default skills. I find monk plays really nice with C2M, qwert skills and remap dodge roll to right click.

So far I am underwhelmed. It just feels very clunky to play with the character being sluggish and hard to make do what I want it to do and the constant dodge roll thing just seems annoying rather than fun.

From all the previews I thought WASD was going to be great but it doesn't work for me. I thought it was going to be a more dynamic, responsive style of gameplay but it's frankly just not very good. I don't mind a more Souls-like game and I like the idea of combat being more meaningful but this is not that.

Hopefully it gets better further along and with more gear and I can work something out I like with non-WASD controls or using a controller.

I am not the best gamer and have some physical disabilities so maybe it's just not for me.
Thx GGG hard games are real fun :D i don't whant some one holding my hand playing i died 7 time to act one bos that sheeet rocks man :D aversome doge response time ,hope rest of the game is as hard :X ,for thouse who whant easy games there are moba game whene you tap then afk 5 min tap again and so on let hard games to be for gamers ,thx again GGG:X
No! don't lower the difficulty !

You forget that this is a game ! you don't realy die ! one of the purpose of a game is to make you become better ! don't accept the idea that you are not good enough ! keep trying and learning. And i'm not an elitist! far from that! but I do like challenges and I do like evolving!

I was there at Diablo 3 launch! Diablo 3 introduced the Inferno difficulty and it was really hard! I remember the fight against Mephisto! it was so hard everyone was rage quitting but I persevered with a German friend and after 6 hours of tries we finally got him it was so satisfying!
But this high difficulty made a lot of people start complaining and unfortunatly after a short time we got the unfamous .03 patch ! it killed the game! the difficulty was dumped down, items rolls were changed (dumped down too) and slowly people started quitting I was among them. this started the downfall of Diablo 3.
2 years later out of curiosity I tried Diablo 3 again and what a surprise! there was no more difficulty! everything was dying so fast! you just needed to spam an aoe skill and roll on the map ! and this didn't make the game more attractive quite the opposite actually. there was no longer a lot of players not because the game was too hard but because it was now too easy !

I don't want this to happen to POE2 !

Challenges are fun if you take them for what they are: challenges ! and with time you will evercome them not because your character has become stronger but because you have become stronger!
OK, so here's how I look at it. First of all, think about how many times have you died for the 1st time, when you've encountered Merveil, or Vaal, or even Dominus. Back in a days, when PoE was in Closed Beta (yeah, 12 years ago, I'm old :P) Dominus was a freakin' beast. He still is if you play bad.

What would be the purpose of doing PoE 2 if they would copy everything? None. Maybe some kind of remaster to make graphics better and that's it.

PoE 2 is hard and PoE 1 was hard as well during Closed Beta. It was hard even during the full release when Act 10 appeared.

Besides, a tip from me. On softcore it is beneficial to die. You wonder why? Here it is. ALL CHESTS ARE RESPAWNED, yes, the yellow ones with a good drop as well ;)
