Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

+1 OP.

The game in its current state is just too hard - slugfest 2024 for early access. I feel like GGG used a one-size-fits-all approach, with professional streamers as play testers. Might want to consider different difficulty levels, with the more difficult mechanics (and better rewards) reserved for the harder settings or something similar.

Previous comments were also accurate about the minions so far - apparently Chris Wilson still hates minion builds. It felt like they were made of paper mache, they didn't tank or even attempt to hold agro. Definitely needs some work here.

The only way I could hold off waves of agro (which go straight for me, ignoring my minions) was to use a narrow hall, which still didn't work b/c eventually as the game progressed (thru Act 1), it got harder and harder to keep them alive. I pumped minion damage and stats, used AOE, DOTs, etc to assist, just felt overly very hard as the first act progressed. I really had to be on my toes to kill the bosses, with a few deaths here and there. With the wolf at the end of Act 1, I completely hit the wall, got him down to roughly 75% while lasting for about 5-6 mins.

As far as dodge rolling constantly, it's just not as enjoyable being dry-humped up and down the field in a small enclosed space. Mostly my strategy consisted of me running in circles using dots on the boss while praying my minions would kill it, didn't really feel large or in charge. It's really not that much fun. Add in one-shots and it gets even worse. My friends in discord conveyed similar thoughts about this, too.

Here's what I'd rate it so far. I understand it's early access, but here goes:

-Graphics: 9.5/10 - Very nice rendering, beautiful scenery, was impressed.
-Sound: 9/10 - Good music, enjoyable, felt like the appropriate mood on each map.
-Story: 9/10 - GGG has always done a good job regarding their story, especially with their voice actors, top notch (especially Heist).
Gameplay: 3.5/10 - With the dodge rolling being necessary for bosses and staying alive as a major factor. I enjoyed the fact that you had to use space efficiently, like avoiding running into teammates, etc (reminded me of the Maggot Lair in D2). And I did like some of the improvements I noticed (Rez downed teammates, skill variety setup, etc), these were good ideas.

I'm hoping that early access is more akin to beta, meaning they're still somewhat testing/adjusting and it's not completely set in stone. I only tried the witch today, and intend to check out some of the other classes tomorrow. Anywho, it's a good first attempt (and tall order) at creating a successor to POE itself, but I appreciate the efforts thus far. Thank you!

+1 to this. Minion witch is so annoying that I can't even find the words to describe it. Stopped at the wolf boss too. Running around in circles for minutes - who playtested this at all? I'll give another class a try, let's see how that changes my experience with the game
git gud,

did the boss with my warrior, mace and shield, and if u play with screen off FOR SURE you will not defeat the boss.

they did put a nice work in the animations and mechanics, just learn them and dont try to facetank bosses with 1kill build, it that is fun to you go poe 1 or cookie-clicker online.

u can deny 100% almost the big dangerous mechanics just stunning the boss and killing him faster breaking his armor, shield is OP with proyectiles and normal hits, and the bigger hits are announced in form of animation and sound phrase of the boss, so that is something you can deny aswell... so no clue what you talking about mate.

here prove chilling in act 2:

just enjoy the game, is not even 24h since it came up xD
I`m just enjoing POE2 before its nerfed.
Just curious, did you farm some zones for items, xp, skill gems?
Act-1 last boss i beat from 4th try, some luck, charms, etc.
Not easy, healing between phases sucks.
I LOVE bosses in POE_2.. But hate trash before that, yeah, just tedious.
At least while your character dont have tools to have fun with that trash.
I am having an absolute blast playing "Conquest Dark" on steam, way more fun that POE2.

before they tune down the difficulty they should have a SSF hardcore race to level 100 as the game is right now just to see what kind of stress and misery people are willing to tolerate. that is, if they aren't already crazy enough to be out there doing it right now already.

+1 OP

I finally started playing this morning, played for about four hours and rage quit in the 2nd zone because I kept dying to the boss. And I'm dreading firing it up again in its current state - slow, frustrating, and weak. If they wanted to expand the audience to larger player base, I do not think they achieved that goal.

This is the danger with only listening to the Zizrans of the world, they're not getting the average player's perspective. And if this game continues to be tuned for only those who have multiple hours to play per day, it's going to fall off.

Honestly, for how excited I was, I am very very disappointed. And sad.
I just don't get it why some people think that white mobs should take 2-5 hits to kill.

Some monsters like the Eternal Knight are harder than most rares i've encountered.

If i want to play a "Dodge/Soulslike", i play a "Dodge/Soulslike".
I always loved how PoE1 makes me feel powerfull and i don't mean the zoom zoom Meta, i mean meaningful upgrades, auras, buffs, even some cool shit on the Skilltree like +1 additional Proj, Chain etc.

PoE2 is not that difficult, but slow, tedious and doesn't feel rewarding at all.

Not a Diablo like game, not even a POE like game!

Is this some sort of reverse psychology or something? Making the game 10x harder?

I've been playing PoE for years, and I have thousands of hours in the game.

Today I played PoE2 for ~5 hours and rage quit.

I failed to kill the act1 boss 10 times, i have 22 deaths, and honestly........ it's NOT FUN.

I am teh definition of the average player, I cant do builds in POE1 and kill NORMAL endgame bosses like Elder / Shaper etc. I killed Elder ONCE with a..what was it, explosive arrow build? The one where you lay ballistars and they shot 1000000 arrows for you.

Other than that i have never killed an endgame boss following any other builds or my own. So yea absolute average player, maybe even below average.

I did the POE2 Act 1 boss with ZERO deaths, and was a really fun fight "shrug".

Paying warrior too btw.

I much prefer the way POE2 plays and feels to POE1. I hate the ZOOM ZOOM gota go fast and blow teh whole screen up in 0.01 sec every 0.5 sec lol

Literal skill / gear issue.

This is absolutely accurate. As someone with 3000 hours in POE one over 7 years. This is almost impossible. Why would I want to run from every mob and let them chase me to get to kill one? Why the hell would I do that? Trying to play melee and it is nearly impossible. I am really bummed, great way to keep people playing POE 1 though.
