Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

"A starting area should slowly introduce you to mechanics and BASIC gameplay. It should not feel punishing at all, nor should the player already have "to adapt". Sorry, but thats just bad game design. "
Starting areas in core gamer games actually have a tendancy to be hard even scary. The first night time in most survival sandbox/crafter games for example. you start with literaly 1 skill you can press and movement keys. Sorry I'm not sympathetic to this inauthentic pleading for the game to be easy. Maybe they should go back to having Easy Medium and Hard difficulty though... Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |

after 30+ tries on the damn count it is very frustrating, as i know it could be done easy if not for the mob swarming and getting stuck. You can say i might be bad, you might be right. I feel it might also be cause of class balance and skill decisions. But at that lvl and not randomly putting skills all over i think even as a sorceress you should be able to win that fight without a ton of luck. I know if i try 30 more times i might be able to beat it, still it is frustrating cause i cannot change the build at this point or do much different in the fight. I fear you will chase away many possible players if it stays like this.
It could really just be class balance as a hard game in general is not a bad thing. After all it is early access and you look for feedback. Maybe the best is light tuning while everyone gets used to the game. Last edited by belph#7600 on Dec 7, 2024, 10:02:22 AM

The game is clunky feels like I'm moving in quicksand. POE 1 felt alive and fluid. I'm playing the merc, Not a fan. prob going to switch up to something that can do damage. Drops are very very rare, In just over 3 hours I have yet to gather enough loot to fill one inventory. This is not fun, It's like going to a job you hate, or that really bad first date that you just can't seem to get away from. IDK what needs to change, but this doesn't even feel like POE.

just do not level your character around damage but build it like HC, lotta ES/EVA/ ARMOUR, and the max res u can find.
make sure you don't get overrrun, lotta rooms are traps with reward chests and this mechanic is intended. learn to dodge correctly take your time, i know trade players are against a timer ( i hate this so i play ssf) but when u die few times , take the time to level up itll make a difference at least psychologically xdd |

also use stun, freeze, anything you can to weaken and slow down. it is not braindead gameplay like poe1

It is not fun for you, but it is for me, so ?
I just hope they make a : my lil poney difficulty mode and let those who enjoy playing the game as they made it. Nowadays ppl want to be able to steamroll games while watching twitch. I don’t. I wanna learn and get better at the game. Look at what poe1 became, planning simulator with two buttons, one to move , one to delete the entire screen. Don’t destroy his game please My lil poney difficulty mode with a rainbow and a the serious mode you wanted to make before the crybabies come. Game is out till few hours, most of ppl have no clue how to play and build correctly still they cry, what the actual ***k. |

Souls veteran here. So played for about 2-3h today (East Asia here and servers were down during most of the day and down again now). Chose Ranger, WASD. Spent a lot of time researching the skill tree so only got to level 7, didn't die once, and other than the 1st boss, barely had to heal. From the Witch boss and the Devourer to the last one I just fought (forgot the name), got hit maybe 1-2 times per boss fight, and never came close to dying clearing the maps. Loot drops been mediocre, still using the starter weapon. All skill points into damage.
Found WASD better for me since movement and dodging is entirely controlled by my left hand on the keyboard, and dodging is second nature since most of my gaming time the last 3-4 months were Elden Ring and Wukong. Can't speak for melee, but if you're ranged and dying all the time to bosses, then maybe you're not paying enough attention to boss attacks. I suspect some players are experiencing the isometric ARPG equivalent of the Grafted Scion/Tree Sentinel/Wandering Wight, as a player you're not in control of the fight here, you can't just stand still most of the time and when you attack you shouldn't just spam your attacks without paying attention to boss movements. Unlike the actual Souls games, you can't stagger or poise break the bosses to give yourself a guaranteed attack/critical hit window, the bosses don't give a sxxt about what you're doing, they just do their own thing. So you need to stay on the move and react to bosses. To compensate, you have all the stun/freeze CC skills, learn to use them properly. I'll see how hard the Act 1 end boss is when I get there, but so far there has been nothing special. Last edited by z3mcneil#3966 on Dec 7, 2024, 10:06:09 AM
