Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

I am really sorry for those who don’t like it but I really really hope it will not be a build planner only like Poe 1.

THANK YOU for pointing this out. I hate how PoE 1 is so easy it literally only boils down to "does my build have enough dmg". The game has almost no skill checks, it's just mindless blasting. At least here we get rewarded for actually having a brain

Not realy. It all boils down to damage. Inherently dealing as much damage as possible reduces the risk of failure significantly because it allows you to skip or shorten boss phases. It also ends you up with more loot.

Wait a couple of days and you will see how alot of players switch to classes that deal the most damage and pose the smallest risk of failure. it will be exactly like in PoE1 just that you have to learn some mechanics extra and everyone not going with the stream of "viable" builds will still suffer.
I'm having a lot of fun with the early access. I think the difficulty is fine and very rewarding when killing a boss. I would like to see a reduction in the time it takes to revive a fallen party member though.
As one of the "complainers" I do understand that there are plenty of people that seem to be enjoying the game AND also doing reasonably well with the game.

While I would prefer a more "D2" approach I can see the merit of having games that you actually have to pay a reasonable amount of attention to.

IMHO the biggest "problem" with the game is really the bosses and knowing that no matter how good your [early game?] build is that you have to engage in the various "damage avoidance" mechanics almost flawlessly to be successful.

For me the I'm at the "most of the time I get it right" but I mess up just often enough that I run out of juice before the bosses do. More importantly the number of times I have to engage with these mechanics is the biggest problem.

For me it's overkill ... for others they probably want a harder game.

YMMV.

Couldnt disagree with the OP more

I have 3.5k hours in POE 1. I loved the game for a long time but i have been extremely bored of the one button build, 1 shot everything, stock market simulator for awhile.

Now i have run into a few bosses that gave me some trouble so far, 3-4 attempts, but when you finally do beat them it feels like a real accomplishment. Nothing in poe 1 gives that feeling.

I think the game is great, and im eager to play it more once they fix the bug my character is currently stuck in xD
Love the difficulty. Hit the sweetspot for me. Fail some bosses, learn mechanics, go next. But, as with PoE 1, Movementspeed is king. If you don't have %ms on boots you will get hit much more often. Or if you dont stop attacking during some mechanics.
Feels good.
The game is fine. The game isnt going to be balanced at every level for every boss. This is very clear from the varying difficulty of killing starting mobs with a brand new character.
