Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

I enjoyed poe 2 up till geonor. The difficulty is over the top for an act 1 boss. The problem is the combination of the following two:
- Mechanics are partially to fast (mostly the fog thingy)
- The fight is to long
This leads to an unwinable attrition battle.
The other bosses were great up to now. There was a learning curve to some of them but Mechanics had clear counterplay and where very doable with a few tries of learning.
I really dont enjoy geonor. I will somehow bite through him but I really hope he is an exception.

Edit: After some optimization and overleveling I beat him. I would still argue that a first act boss could be a little bit lighter on the reflexes.

Edit 2: The second act boss was just great! So much fun! All abilities were fair and learnable. The overhead sword was fun. Getting the timing down was just the right challange!

I can't seem to beat the Devourer on SSFHC, my minions are really brittle and I was even using the skill that makes the little minions to help kill it.

What's the secret? I was rolling all over the place. My minions die in like 5 secs, then I have to wait 7 sec for them to revive. This was even with 1 point into +health on minions + the damage nodes before it. Everytime I run or roll away from the Bosses' damage my minions run with me so they stop attacking. Makes it rather hard to minion this Boss. Why even have minions at all if their leash is so short?

I have yet to get to level 5. Died a bunch of times.

I got past that guy (mostly by running away a lot), but the Druid fungus boss later gave me the same problem on Witch. Minions decide to run through the middle of the room and suicide every time he teleports... and he teleports a lot. Losing your minions because they don't know not to run through things that kill them is incredibly annoying.

Then I'm casting a spell, he does that channel thing, dodge roll fails to stop the animation lock on the spell I'm casting... and I'm dead.

Minion builds are notoriously hard to tune right, but they are REALLY fragile right now on bosses. You've lost a ton of power because of that as they spend half the fight dead.

There is definitely difficulty related tuning work to do.
Poe 2 right now is absolutely perfect. Diablo 3 at release was amazing. Posts like this made them nerf it, because too many people couldn't beat inferno. The game was meticulously well balanced for inferno. Players needed to learn the game in order to beat it. It was perfect. And then they ruined it.And the game has been absolute garbage ever since.

I really can't handle people who think that they should just be granted a pass through a game, just because they bought it.

AA and AAA game releases for the most part of late have been terrible, and a lot of the reason why is because people feel like they are entitled to beating the game or doing well in the game while not putting in very much effort at all.

I think PoEII right now is the best ARPG i've ever played. small gear upgrades feel like a huge upgrade because of the balance. Feeling mild anxiety coming into a new fight or a boss fight is amazing, and it happens because the game is challenging.

Challenging games are a lost art. The cool thing is is that POE 1 exists for people that don't want to put in the effort. Keep playing that.

I also don't think that a lot of people realize that you can still get through it pretty easily. If you just spend a little more time leveling your character up, and not to mention what is going to happen to builds when you can take your high ranked alt and gear your low rank up; You'll slide right through the game.

I pray that if they do decide to do a meganerf on the game to make it stupid easy, like all the stupid games are nowadays, just to cater to people like you, they should just add a new difficulty level, story mode or something that lets you feel super powerful, but it nerfs your drops by like fifty percent.

You cant really argue with that either, because honestly, you don't deserve good gear if you can't commit to earning it.

I'm actually about to write a long email to GGG about this very thing, and how so many other games have been ruined in the past due to people crying on forums.

Again go play D4 or PoE 1 please. If it's too hard for you, this game isnt made for you.

The difficulty reminds me of when I started POE and died to Hillock time and again until I figured out whatever the magic is to avoid dying to him.

I think people who are uber in POE may just be expect to be instantly uber in POE2.

Answer to most things here is GG

Not bothered.

Instead of calling it Path of Exile 2, it should be called Path of Souls

How in hell you manage to do that? You just sit standign in front of it and try to outdps it? That is a PLAYER issue not a game issue. That witch I defeated on the first go with my Bulldog on my lap trying to lick the keyboard at same time!

1- The Boss seems to have _1 Million Times_ the health of regular enemies.
(What?, I have to spend 10 minutes to kill the first boss of the game?)
2- The Boss's attacks and minions seem to cover the entire Prison Cell area
you are trapped in, so they overwhelm you easily.
3- My health and mana potions are dried-up/finished way too quickly.
4- Everything my character does is slow as F***.

And this is the first F***ing boss of the game !!! What will happen in ACT2,
if GGG ever allows me to reach it?

PS: I'm happy for you that you have a friend/pet that keeps you company.
You don't have to boast about it to us that we don't. ;)

1- No that witch can be killed in less than 30 seconds.

2- No the area of damage is a bit smaller than the graphic indications in fact. You just need to not let the reinforcements accumulate

3- Flasks might need some adjustments, specially the smaller ones, after you get larger ones the feelign of low resources vanishes fast

4- Is as slow as the enemies. But you can interrupt all your movement and animations while the bosses cannot. So abuse that. Interrupt and punish the boss.

I would do that in a heartbeat at this moment - but you know what? We didnt get PoE1 new season because of this, so there is nowhere to go
"When things are blackest, I just tell myself 'cheer up, things could be worse!' And sure enough, they get worse!"

Skeeve
POE1 is the game I've played the most, almost 3k hours! I tried Elden Ring once it was HARD and I didn't like it.

When playing POE1 I often time wish I could move while attacking or dodge roll because of the movement skill cooldown.

Some of you are so used to stationary attacks and one button and one hit kill, that you see POE2 as a dark soul ARPG, which is not.

POE2 is great, and the difficulty is normal, if you don't one-button mash or face tank. Try slowing the mobs first or blocking their attacks(use combos) before you go head-on. Don't rely on gems alone use gears too, grab every drop, sell those you don't want, and buy some gear.

However, What would be a good if not in-game, it would be buying uncut skill gems from an NPC(I'm still in Act1). I think the dodge roll needs a bit more distance.

Overall POE2 is an improvement of POE1 that needs polishing. I believe people need to change their playstyle, have an open mind, and adapt because why play another game when all they want is the same game? Didn't GGG say that POE2 would be different than POE1?

Exactly! It's way more difficult than PoE1 was.
(coming for a player less than 1 week into POE1 before arriving here)

playing a minion witch, not sure why other struggling with this class either its fine, i kill the boss's mainly using my spells my minions die, and i dodge and continue to do dps until they respawn, means i have to be on my toes more when they gone and get to relax a bit on their return

please if anything devs, add a snowflake mode if anything for the people who struggle, but scale loot drops accordingly aka give less for less difficulty

do NOT water down the default difficulty

ive only played POE1 for 5 days, i come from a background where i find dark souls too difficult, ive been playing games since the 90's

you game is no where near as hard as a souls game, ive died maybe 6-8 time and im still on act one, each and every death has been because im too low level for the content im doing or i havent found the best way to use my build, each and evey death has made me think about why, go away breifly, make some changes come back and then not die to that current mob

the difficulty is perfect

i think old POE players just are too used to a run and press one button whole screen dies, and it shows, as a new player, your game is not too difficult at all!!

seriously please do not water this down, or if you choose to make it easier make it into the doom equivilent of "I'm to young to die!" for the people who require it, give reduced loot label it story mode and not the default etc everyone is happy!
