I've been experiencing this issue with both PoE 1 and 2 now.
Windows 11 24h2 Ryzen 7 9800X3D RTX 4070 The only thing that fixes it for me is opening Task Manager and manually setting the affinity to 2 less CPU cores. This allows me to keep the multi-core support without having to settle for 40 FPS. Downside is that it still crashes, just PoE though. It only happens when loading between areas and the CPU usage for PoE spikes to 90%-100%. Thankfully the full system doesn't crash anymore. However, it does suck that I have to restart PoE. I hope they can figure this out and acknowledge the problem at the very least. The only things that works so far: Disable Multithreading in the Graphics settings Reinstalling 23h2 seems to fix the problem. Things I've tried and didn't work: D11 D12 Vulkan Set Affinity to 2x CPU (This causes _just_ PoE to crash instead of the whole system) Windows 7 Compatibility Mode Turned off Game Mode Last edited by FritoJay#1070 on Dec 19, 2024, 3:28:18 PM

This is getting very frustrating to be able to hard reboot and log in to freeze on certain instances and the only bandaid solution is to disable multithreading? I mean who would like to play on a 40fps game? |

I had the same issue, I changed to DirectX11 and now it works for me. Been playing for 4h+.

Keeps happening, I lowered things, messed with affinity, downloaded another program as suggested by another user. Same thing, if it's going to happen anyway I might as well enjoy the graphics if it bothers to load. Hopefully this is fixed soon, it's disheartening reading that some had this issue with POE1 and it's still an issue. Really enjoying the game but I'm still in act 1 and I'm afraid I won't be able to play much longer. All my tweaks have just made it a stuttering mess.

Couldn't even load back into the game. I switched to Vulkan and turned Reflex off, no freeze since then. |

I had this issue too but I found a different way for it to be fixed, at least up until now.
All I had to do was go Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options>Change Plan Settings>Change Advanced Power Settings>Processor Power Management>Maximum processor state> set to 99 instead of 100. No idea what this worked but I saw it recommended on a Steam forum so thought I'd share it here too. |
