I see a lot of posts and threads about the freeze and crash during loading screens, but my experience thus far has only been during game play. I'm not sure if it's the same issue, but my game will suddenly start to stutter and lag, my mouse movement becomes slow and eventually my computer will hard freeze if I don't immediately alt+f4 PoE2 and any other applications I had open. It's starting to kill my enjoyment as I'm constantly thinking any micro stutter or latency spike is the start of my computer freezing up
I'm on Windows 10
i9-9900K
rtx 2080

This isn't just a POE2 issue. It is also happening in POE1. The exact same pc freeze, during the same actions, loading maps or the game.
I get no crashes or crazy cpu utilization during load screens in any other games. Just POE1 and POE2. This is 100% a problem on GGGs end.
Most likely has something to do with the shaders because all the crash reports people are actually able to get, show shader as the error.
Try to play POE1, you will absolutely encounter the same issue. 100%

I've had a similar problem since the latest patch where regardless of my graphics settings, DX11/DX12/Vulkan, UnCrasher, it will hard crash the game, sometimes after a couple of minutes but usually immediately.

Please stop spreading Misinformation whether by accident, on purpose, or by not reading the thread. This crashing is happening on every possible system, every possible hardware configuration, and every single iteration of windows from Win10 every version from home to Pro, Win 11 24h2, 23h2, or any other version from home to pro. This is all GGG and Path of Exile 2 and its process in which it loads into the system. This is not the fault or Windows or any processor or any other hardware or incumbent software.
Please read the Thread and all the info being reported by the player base before pressing blame. This is all GGG and the Loading Process of the game.
Oh yeah? Then try to explain to me how on earth I had played 100+h without a single crash, and right after updating to 24H2 yesterday game hard crashes once an hour or so. You think it is just a coincident? Really?
Ryzen 7 3700X/2060 super/32GB RAM/Windows 11 24H2.

I guess the people on windows 10 and linux must have magically gotten that win 11 24h2 update. Correlation is not causality.
Also there was an update for the game yesterday. Which seems to make the crashes worse for basically everyone.

Hi,
My Windows Defender just detected that file as a Trojan and auto-Quarantined it.
Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml
Probably a false positive, based on heuristics behavior.
Huh. Specifically Windows Defender? I can't seem to replicate that, Windows Defender doesn't flag it for me. I can see why some heuristic-based virus scanners might be sketched out by a tool by an unknown developer that scans through your processes constantly and reads information about them though (to find which one is PoE).
I haven't even run it yet. I extracted from the Zip file and while I was just web browsing, Defender found it in the regular unzipped folder on my desktop and quarantined it.
I see a lot of people with homemade apps that are not signed get that same flagged by Defender.
MS trying to make some cheap money off people forcing them to get certs. lol
Apparently a common issue with .NET AOT (natively compiled):
https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/issues/110541
https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/issues/33745
I'll try to release a new version tonight or tomorrow with the workarounds in those Github issue.

Slow mouse is one of the loading pc crash we experience coupled with glitched audio. If it also hard freeze then you are like 90% the same crash because thats all we're worried about is the hard freeze.
Ok guys the crash is MUTATING

The poe2 patch was as recent as your windows update. There are people who have been playing since launch and never crash only to crash 1.5 weeks in and people who crash 1.5weeks in right after a patch (small difference).
If youre seeking for a fix and think it's gonna come from Microsoft, NO it's still up to GGG and for them to tell us what the hell is going on

Confirming encountering it in POE1 as well as POE2. Have had it occur for years on several old systems on every version of Windows since 7, so definitely not a Windows issue or limited to POE2. Happens almost 100% of the time when on Directx12 or Vulkan, but less with Directx11. I think that's why it seems more common in POE2, because Directx11 is Default in 1.
Only thing that "helps" is disabling 2+ cores in system affinity, but it doesn't prevent the issue just prevents it from locking up your PC entirely and requiring a hard restart.
Just set up an entirely brand new system from the ground up the week before POE2 launch, went to test it in POE1, and have the issue occur consistently, so definitely hardware and software independent. It's absolutely a problem on GGG's implementation that got carried into POE2. Numerous threads and reports of the issue have popped up over the years, but its still going strong in both games. Hopefully if they ever manage to fix it, they remember to bring the fix back to POE1 too instead of just continuing to ignore it.
Edit: Also it's been happening way more in POE2 since this last patch. No clue what's changed it sure hasn't helped.
