Alternate game mode for casual gamers

It's not about ego and pride, it's experience and business intelligence. There's a reason PoE is at the top of the genre and has been for at least a decade now.

Because not implementing a mode that would bring in more players and revenue is business savvy? Please explain.

Its a documented phenomenon that modes like the proposed one lead to quicker player burnout amongst established players.

Its just as equally to chase off people, if not more so.

Poe has built its audience around a more hardcore and challenging crowd. This is from the creator Chris himself, and the developers that share this vision at the company. For as long as the game has existed.

If the company deviates from this, and is then known to cater to players who couldn't make proper builds, but rather complaining and getting their way. Many would leave.

I would leave as a player. Im not giving them money or supporting their game if they change their buisness model to try to be an "everyones game".

Especially if they buckle to "feedback" who cant admit any fault of their own. With all of them using extreme hyperbole, false broad claims, and outrage. Rather than any data or specific examples.

As listed here:
Spoiler
"

perfect mirror-costing builds that abuse every defensive layer in this game.

"

t17s were made to be farmed by those specific 3 builds and nothing else. Very cool game design.

"

Hurr durr just build defences just copy paste everyone's hc ssf meta build and do the boring checklist while having 500k dps and being tanky" isn't a solution to this problem.

"

Yes such good game design, only the top 0.000000001% who have 10 mirror builds can farm t17s for good rewards by abusing rogue exiles, meanwhile everyone else suffers. Very cool.

"

Then people are forced to play unfun expensive builds if they don't wanna "miss out"

"
If the entry level to do t17 maps comfortably is 5 mirrors(or more I dunno), then something is clearly wrong here.

"
This is exactly the problem with these maps, if you need these kinds of perfect-gear builds to run them smoothly then that's just bad balancing.

"
game unplayable

"
-New spectres are bad

All of this "feedback" unfortunately has no substance, or grand claims but no data, but actually data to the contrary.

"everyones game" is how you kill your game. As mentioned above by stnikolauswagne, and we have real life examples, of which I mentioned earlier, to understand this.

This doesnt just apply to video games as well. You are wrong about business and income. Companies who specialize, have a competitive advantage. If they try to satisfy everyone, they lose that advantage. As well as a loyal customer base.

Catering to a broad crowd is riskier and challenging, rather than focusing on a specific audience.

Chase people off? Casual Mode would not replace another mode, it would be in addition to. Anyone who would be offended by an additional mode that doesn't affect them probably has other issues.

Offering an additional service to a larger player base will increase revenue, not decrease it. It's Basic Business 101, the larger your clientele, the more revenue you will generate. This isn't complicated.
The nerfs will continue until morale improves.

If Nobu started serving Bic Macs, I'm sure it would attract a lot of new people who want fast food more than a meal of life-changing quality.

But they'd lose their reputation and credibility and a lot of their customers - not to mention a lot of their staff - would probably leave over this betrayal of the core vision of what the restaurant was supposed to be.

Saying "in addition to" doesn't change anything which currently exists is extremely uninformed as to the way the world actually works. Not to mention the idea that "larger clientele = more money" is a laughable statement in a free to play game supported by the optional purchases of the most devoted players.

I see, so not only will existing customers leave but the staff will also be so distraught and offended by a new game mode that they would quit on the spot.

And this makes sense to you?

It doesn't have to replace.

If GGG starts to cater to people who refuse to acknowledge any fault of their own, and needing a "easy mode" to make up for their lack of skill, or build making decisions.

I will leave this game. They arent getting anymore money from me. And I would think many would do this.

They built their audience on a hardcore and challenging gameplay. If they deviate from that, completely in the opposite direction. Bye bye.

Especially when it involves the aforementioned parties incapability of admitting problems with their own play, rather than placing all the blame on the game.
Then its just buckling to whiners and complainers, rather than any actionable feedback backed by data.

You dont know business 101, if you think broadening your business model will increase revenue. So you can stop trying to use this as a talking point. This is like saying "the customer is always right", and then being a yes man on every issue that comes up in customer service.

Thats how you kill your business, and probably get fired by your boss.

So, you'd be so offended that you'd quit. Ok.

I'm fairly certain that the amount of new customers, as well as returning paying customers, would offset your departure.

Lol it makes no sense that anyone would leave if a new easy mode existed, did that happen with Ruthless? Do you know how many people absolutely despise that mode? But they didn't quit the game over it, they just kept playing what they enjoy.

Who cares if they add this? Just ignore it if you don't like it. Just like how I'll ignore t17 maps from now on until they are in a playable state, same logic. Just like how I ignore ruthless, ssf and hc. Nobody would care if they added an easier mode, people would care for about a week then go back to their favorite mode.
Ruthless hardcore and ssf are not comparable examples.

The game built itself and caters to decision making and challenging play.

This applies to ruthless, ssf, and HC. Which is why they were made.

"Easymode" does not.

So no you cant use these as comparable examples. You are purposefully ignoring context if you believe this.
