Alternate game mode for casual gamers

Getting randomly one shot, as proven time and time again, on this forum.

Is up to two things, and are usually combined:

Standing in something you shouldnt be.

Having a horrifically built character.

Game certainly doesnt feel fair when random bullshit combines and just explodes you. You just drive at 100 mph for an hour and then a wall appears and you smash into it. You dont really learn shit cause you dont interact with said wall majority of the time. You just have to fucking divine what ever happened to your character from coffee grounds. And in rare case when you do understand what happened you wish you didn't cause its something like barely visible homing balls from ritual that somehow scale to orbit and back from any phys as extra.
Asking GGG to fine tune their game is futile. They simply cant or dont want to. Every time they spit out something new its utterly whack.
So asking for easy mode seems more reasonable as making it should be relatively easy as in change some numbers and settings and in there anything GGG tuned poorly would grind a whole lot less gears.

Exactly, I mentioned archnem mod combos too, and yeah the ritual balls scaling off phys as ele map mods is actual insanity. Ritual as a whole got bricked by the affliction mobs that were added, but that's going off-topic.

It's as simple as: People just want to have fun in the game without being blasted by 50 different spell effects, archnemesis mods or on-death effects while trying to loot an item or something. Or you know, in the case of Rituals, dancing around 100 exploding orbs that follow you quickly but need to be triggered by standing still, all while in a corner of a Ritual that isn't even the full circle because its in some weird map geometry + the mechanics from the specific ritual type itself also blasting lasers or huge orbs at you at the same time lol
Just the fact alone that you must be at all times be running like headless chicken cause game just vomits damage at you from all directions and you cannot stand in anything and dont really know what will mix into something lethal has made the game annoying to me. Used to be much more chill, now its a hysteria simulator where you cant relax. Power fantasy is no longer present, only running for your life scared of everything.
If everything is this deadly progression could be easier. But when slow grind is paired with high lethality you get frustrated players.
When fallacious arguments aren't convincing comes the biased moderation.

Yep. It's why I just stopped caring about defenses entirely and started playing a glass-cannon. If I'm gonna get oneshot anyways, why bother grinding perfect spell suppression gear, specific jewels etc. etc. just to die anyways? The gameplay is the same, I still have to just run and flamedash like crazy but at least with more dps you can have a bit more fun in sc and you get to melt bosses in seconds. And the best defense is a good offense anyway, I only have around 100-300 deaths at the end of every league. I've accepted that this game will just randomly decide to oneshot you and you will never know how or why, because apparently a deathlog is too complicated to program in a game that runs so many calculations at once already.

And I'm 100% sure the game already somehow internally tracks every point of damage you take and knows what spell it is and its components(ele, phys, chaos), they would simply need to show that information to the players in a neat looking UI.
But oh well, I guess I simply need to see into the future to avoid the random oneshots.

Some of you are arguing against something that would not affect you or your playstyle. Instead of embracing a new mode that others would enjoy, and bring some players back who quit playing, you instead bash people who offer feedback and ask for something they want. It's incredible.

"If I don't want it, you can't have it."

It's ridiculous.
The nerfs will continue until morale improves.

It is, this kind of mode would definitely bring back or keep more players active, but it doesn't help when people who give this feedback and ask for this are just brushed off and told to play another game or something. Or the usual "get good".

Like just let people have their fun in a videogame, it really is that simple. I probably wouldn't even play this mode longterm and I would like it in the game anyways, because I know it would benefit a lot of people and be a detriment to exactly 0 people.

Apparently, offering different playstyle options that would entice more players to play and more players to play longer is a bad thing. And at no expense to players who do NOT want to play said mode.

Yeah I don't get it either, the game didn't suffer when ruthless was added, nor when ssf was added. It just catered to a specific group of players and those modes gathered their own community that enjoys them. The exact same is being asked here, there's no need to chase players away when adding something like this would just be a + to the game and not affect anything outside of the mode. I may not like ruthless but I don't really pay any attention to it, and that's the end of it. I only played it like once up to act 5 to get a free mystery box and decided to never play it again lol
It doesn't subtract from my experience with the game in sc trade at all.

No need to post pob screenshots of people's characters lol, this thread isn't discussing any of that, its simply about how harshly the game punishes dying and the main point is some people want an easier mode.

I know you can farm a lot of currency on softcore, but I'm not a divines/h oriented player. If I tried to sell gear and every possible bubblegum currency I would actually lose my mind kek

I just casually sell expensive scarabs and cards with Faustus, and do whatever else like random sanctum or strongboxes in t16s(or bosses and get a nice watcher's eye/forbidden flame or something I dunno), I had 5000 chaos in my stash at one point this league, now I have 2500 chaos and 200 divines because of 50 mil crop shipments, but that doesn't mean that some players don't value 50c as a lot. I know that it's a good amount of currency for the average casual, because I was one and still kind of am lol(I just get lucky drops every league and kinda passively build up divines from spamming sanctum/t16s/bosses). I never really plan out a strat or anything, nor do I calculate profits in divs per hour because a map can take me 5 mins or 30 mins.

It's really as simple as: the omen of amelloration or whatever its called is too weak because of its once-per-zone use and its also too expensive because people don't do ritual for their exp strat so barely any for sale, they do stuff like breach+beyond+evolving shrine. Or they just afk in a 5-way legion rota.

This is why people also miss the exp shrine scarab, it actually gave you a fun way to grind to 100, even I could do it in 30 maps to get 99-100 and got like 2 sets of The Fortunate doing it, it was the most fun lvl100 grind I had ever done in this game, but now that the scarab is deleted Sanctum is the only viable option for players like me.

lol no
when you run around t16s with 10k ehp you dont get to complain the the game needs an easy mode
thats like running around with an unlinked skill and complaining that mobs are too tanky

this is just a player who refuses to play the game properly
nothing more

0 armour 0 evasion 0 block 0 suppress not even max chaos res no overcap resists to combat curse or exposure

i bet he dies 5x a map and rightfully so

Thank you for all your comments, I did not suggest this thread to take away from your game enjoyment.

I mainly play it when I cannot sleep or if I am bored, which is not that much.
I do not sign up for a job with path of exile I am employed and need to work all day, which afford me salary which allows me to have a PC to play games on.
All I want is to have agency to choose which game mode suits my needs best.
All the arguments are good from all the comments I read up to page 11 at this time but it is not convincing me to change my mind, I still have the want to play an easy mode.
I have tried the other game people hate it seems(d4) and it is literally boring me to play it so I added this thread to at least share my thoughts. For me the dying is really annoying because I would start playing one evening get to 50% xp and lose 2 hours worth of xp in 2 deaths. In last league I got my first level 100 thanks to the domination scarabs of teachings, it was as another comment mentioned the most fun I had leveling ever. So not to reiterate the same arguments, I will just say, I love poe but I also hate poe, and I want to not hate it.

The character sheets you post are not mine and I do build more tanky characters with 900k ehp or even infinite according to pob but the main issue for me is mostly not being able to afford the upgrades I need to fill out defenses and keep damage. People show off OP builds and there are mirrors invested into it, and with 1 to 2 hours max per day, it does not seem like I am getting these lucky drops.
I really think we should get outside and touch some grass now and then.
I certainly enjoy doing other things besides playing path of exile.
If GGG does anything with this thread I will be thankful if they at least read it. I am not optimistic, since the vocal "hardcore" softcore supporters make so many points regarding how bad us easy mode supporters are and that we don't deserve to play the game we love in a mode that is even more fun to us.

Well now you're just blowing it out of proportion, all I'm saying is that losing hours of mapping to random deaths isn't fun.

I can't stress this enough, and its every time and the same comment over and over again with some people.....

You are NOT experiencing RANDOM deaths!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my god. You are literally causing your OWN deaths because of how you build your characters. This has been pointed out to you in EVERY thread, and each time you ignore it entirely.

You continuously claim that the most fun you have is building glass cannons with zero defenses. But then you turn around and say its unfun to die. So which is it?! Fun or unfun? Because you are the source of BOTH of those scenarios.

If dying is such a problem for you that you complain incessantly across multiple threads about it..........then PROTECT AGAINST DYING! Geez...

You can still DO everything your character does, clear things offscreen, explode everything, deal 10s of millions of damage while ALSO having defenses which will lead to fewer or possibly even zero deaths.

The one who is blowing things way out of proportion in every conversation is pretty clear: it is the person who willingly and gleefully ignores advice from the community, the game, the genre, other games, the stats, etc. and instead continues to rail against the "unfair, overtuned, <insert buzzword here>" game.
