Game is turning into a glass cannon only builds

the answer is simple. preference. as much as you may say that we're limiting ourselves. the fact is we enjoy trumelee.

isit wrong to want a game to feel a certain way?

I mean your preferences are up to you and it's all good if you said stuff like "My favorite melee build" is bad. But i don't recall you ever saying stuff like that. You always go "melee is bad". You typically don't even mention true melee from what i can remember. You take your own miserable selfinduced experience and project in on the entire archtype acting like it's a fact for everyone and even mock people who disagree with that.

True melee will never be good in this game because it's damage projection is bad and you can't solve that without making it not true melee. That being said, if you don't care much about clear speed you can still make it work. If you are simultanously going "I want to bonk stuff with a stick and arms length" and "i want to clear maps as fast as those nuclear missile rapid fire caster builds" then all that's left for me is to question your sanity.

Nah, mate. What you are using here are the Admiral gloves that give +3 to all melee skills. Except those are shit gloves outside of that. No Exposure, no Cold DoT, no defenses, Life, resistances, etc.

This + Ashes of the Stars are the only GLOBAL melee skill gem mods that currently exist, iirc. I checked craftofexile when I made this and it was all spell skills only.

Edit: The reason why this matters is because this is a melee tank build. I can't afford to use those gloves. If I were to make a generic Katabasis build, then sure, these gloves would be a viable option.

There's always the option of focussed amulets, can get up to +8 skill levels from a (multi)-mirror tier one.

Like, I get what you are saying, but read that sentence again and notice the problem. I can craft +X to level of spells fairly easily.

Though I'm actually certain that those amulets are spells only. If not, feel free to screenshot one.

Have a look through this link, theres plenty of them up for sale.
@BaumisMagicalWorld
no intensity for clear as you move cast move cast
thats aoe per bolt, the bolts also fall in area randomly so a cast cover more area than youd think
when you spam fat enemy u stand in place so intensity goes up

overall i think firestorm of pelting is 10/10 skill and will be sad when ggg axes it

Well yea why would it not with so many stupid game design and nerf to defense.

If a dev make defense suck people are going to ignore it.
Why am I still here

you're right on that, mainly because everyone who argues melee is bad are talking about trumelee, so i did not see the need make the distinction

you know what? my bad, i've always assumed we are all on the same page when we talk about melee being trumelee.

the problem is many folk tend to not differentiate between the two and there are people who refuse to acknowledge that trumelee is even a thing.

it can get tiring because even when i use examples of tru melee skills being bad specifically some forummers would do mental gymnastics to reason its not bad. and some of them do mock me as well so i may have done some splash damage here and there. and that can be my bad. tbh everyone who complains about melee being bad is always coming from the trumelee pov.

so yeah thats still my bad for just mocking people everywhere and sometimes i do no realize if the person is the one that slighted me in the first place.

the melee is fine gang usually are of similar mindset tho.

where ever zana went, there it would be

haahhaa

in any case, i m really looking forward to poe2. even tho i did say i kinda gave up on poe1 trumelee, i do see the devs putting effort to make trumelee better. i m no longer complaining or giving suggestions for poe1 trumelee as i see they have they're still putting effort into it, because i've got so many game choices now.

in fact i really want to play d4 but i want to see how far i can get in settlers. i came back to poe coz the changes they made to melee/trumelee was astounding. enough for me to actually play in a temp league despite being primarily a std player.

But defense is in a very good state since leagues and was even heavily buffed this league.
People just go for damage mode cause they feel the need of extremely high damage numbers.
As a result of that we get posts about players being all upset with death penalty l, dying often, yada yada and in almost every case they don't have any defensive layers or barely any at all.
Most of the made up problems wouldn't exist if players did a better job in creating a balanced character or counterplay the lacking defense on a glass cannon character with better gameplay.
Shit that ain't gonna hit you ain't gonna kill you it's that simple for glass cannons.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
"Heavily buffed"... we lost base armor on determination and got some more on gear to compensate. We lost tons of phys taken as sources, pretty much everything outside the chest slot and got a bit of extra life. We got ele dmg red on endu charges but payed for that with eternal damnation.

I wouldn't call it nerfs, it's relatively even but "heavily buffed" is a massive exaggeration. Unless maybe you assume Svalinn to be a fixed choice for every build?
I read on reddit that ubers have 40% penetration on their elemental spells.
Lets say https://pobb.in/GR7QRHZAIRFk has enough damage, does it have enough defenses?

Only shaper has 40% on his shaper balls. Maven and Exarch have 15 or 20%. Eater, Sirus and Elder have none as far as i know.

Whether your build has enough defense... honestly you've got block and 75 res from what i can see (don't have POB atm so I can't actually load that Pobb.in, sorry in advance if i overlook something). This means everytime your block get's passed you'll most likely die or be close to death.

To give an example. Shaper balls have ~13k damage with 40% pen. So your 75 cold res becomes 35. You take 83% of those 13k as cold damage with 35 res which is ~7k damage. Even without the other 17% taken as fire damage to your 75 fire res that's likely lethal.

/edit there is another 20% from endurance charges and enfeeble so it's another .80 and .71 modifier for ~4k damage in total. Still pretty much lethal without guard skill up.
