The Self Found League
" They were tuned to make it easy to play that way. And most players did in fact play that way since only about 30% of licenses ever went online. Which is not to say that many players did not enjoy trading. But it was a minority. |

I don't like sitting all day in town listening to the trade channel instead of smashing mobs.
So +1. One problem need to address first is the way map drop. It'll make league impossible as everyone stucked at early lv80 without trading to support maps. Last edited by stefan_12345#3840 on Aug 16, 2013, 6:08:11 AM

" D2 was played in an era where having a high speed connection was not the norm. Naturally offline/solo play was more popular then. As time moved on and people got better connections, most of those playing D2 solo did it for MF, mainly because D2 had no loot allocation. For experience gain, party play was much more effective. Perhaps the guy in that reddit screen cap you posted is so venomously opposed to self-found leauge because it would cut down on his profit margins.
Some people play rpgs/mmos specifically for the economy to 'be rich' in-game. Those with great wealth tend to react strongly and aggressively when that wealth is threatened. (look at examples of this IRL) I would very much enjoy a challenging self-found, no trading, no dropping items, 'ironman' leauge. I'm not keeping my fingers crossed though. <=^__^=> stop over moderating that makes the official forums useless

People are opposed to it because it doesn't solve the problem of MF farming and Tradespam. A self-found league just runs away from the problem, while spreading the population thin and eliminating the major social aspect of trading.

" This I agree is true. Leveraging party play was more effective, and many people took advantage. My only point is the game was tuned to make single-player fully viable, all the way through the most difficult content (uber bosses on players 8). And it was enormously successful partly because of that. |

" They probably wont give a straight answer to not piss off to many customers Iirc there hasnt been an answer for the permanent pvp league either We can keep pushing the idea tho Dogs Summoner - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/885199

" I wish you good luck and all the very best in this attempt to get an answer to this. I doubt you will, but I would love to be wrong. Even the reply of " It's not happening" would at least be an answer, stop the wondering and save me checking here to see no news as ever. " Just guessing, but if it was such a small amount of people interested then there would be no real downside to GGG for simply saying "No". So hopefully it's not just a few people. " Agree with bchan here. The rich players of the economic trading simulator, scared they might lose the most profitable of customers... those who trade rarely and can be sold items at highly inflated prices and because the game is based around trading not self found there will always continue to be these easy pickings for them. |

Here as some reasons I am opposed to this idea:
1. I make a significant profit from trading with people who don't play much, dislike trading, and reroll a lot and never reach endgame so don't have a good understanding of item prices. Naturally it is not very difficult to make a profit from these people. If there were a self-found league with increased drop rates, there would be much less of them. 2. People leaving the 'normal' leagues will make trading even more tedious. This game simply does not have the playerbase to support more leagues right now. The only people left will be the other cutthroat, ruthless bastards such as myself. Two hardheaded people bartering = trade never gets done. 3. Eventually as more and more people leave, I am too forced to migrate to self found league, since the normal league is basically dead (remember - 95% of all players as casuals). 4. Self found league would completely and utterly fucking suck. If I get good RNG, then because of increased drop rates I breeze through content and the game becomes boring as hell. If I get bad RNG, or even if I get good RNG that gives me awesome items that my build doesn't need, then I have no chance to mitigate it by trading for what I do need. Self found is a lose-lose. 5. Self found league destroys single player. In order to offset the imbalance of no trading, I have to play in a group with as many people as possible so that I can at least trade with 5 others. I enjoy playing in a group, but since there are new leagues and less players in each one, it is harder and harder to find a party. Especially since most of the people on self found league and scrubs. I enjoy playing self found once in a while. Sometimes I go back to diablo 2 or median xl and do a self found playthrough just for fun. But I can't play these games full time like I do poe because they get supremely boring, and those two games are way harder than PoE and there is way more play game goes into a full playthrough, even without increased drop rate (self found poe = 2 days. self found median xl = 3 weeks) |

Hi
No one is forcing anyone to play in another league least of all a self found league. This over inflated economy sucks, I never craft since I need to save my orbs for trading. In a self found league with some increased orb rates and most of all no greedy traders charging outrageous rates for tiddly shite. Most players that want a self found league don't trade anyways so the economy would be impacted by nothing. cheers Conan: Crush your enemies. See them driven before you.
