The Multi-box Thread: How it ruins the game.

And please, stop quoting and pissing at each other. What sense does it make to fight virtually when you don't even know each other? I wouldn't waste the time. No1 cares about your personal arguments :/ Use the personal message button..

How would one even mutli box now? Only things I can think of is they are running vaal runs all day. Second, they are cheating and using cheaty 3rd party software to move all of their guys at once and they would all have to be leveled up I'm assuming. It seems like it would be incredibly difficult. But what do I know?

The topic name includes 'how it ruins the game'.

I think we can all agree X potentially exists. But those who dont know how to think for themselves dont seem to understand that 'if you are aware of x, then y' is extremely debatable, unproven, and imo wrong.
But lets just say my opinion is wrong, and that it is all true. Why bring awareness to x?
Could it be because someone wants Y?
Could it be because someone doesnt care about others enjoyment.
Why fight for this topic? Seriously, even if you are right(which you arent). You are doing more harm than good.

In terms of actual exploits, there are two methods, one of which is "dumb hacker" and one of which is "smart hacker".

Dumb hacker:

• Install bots on five other accounts that are programmed to track your main character and follow it around
• Manually control the main character and go on itemfind runs as normal, except instead of solo loot you gain 6-player party loot

Smart hacker:

• Install bots on five other accounts that are programmed to track your main character and follow it around
• Install a bot on the main character that doesn't fight enemies, it just goes to the Feelshrine and opens lots of chests and scoops up the loot
• Go live the rest of your life as normal while the bots collect currency as you're AFK
• If you feel the strange compulsion to play, take over the main character from the bot and emulate the "dumb hacker" method, then reactivate main character bot when finished

Even though it doesn't involve multiboxing, let's also toss in Average Hacker:

• Install a bot that doesn't fight enemies, it just goes to the Feelshrine and opens lots of chests and scoops up the loot
• Go live the rest of your life as normal while the bots collect currency as you're AFK

Notice that both of the multiboxing methods involve the use of bots -- the real enemy -- because multiboxing without bots was hit hard by the 0.10.4 patch that required party members to remain in proximity of each other for increased loot drops, which makes multiboxing without some kind of automated method to keep your alts near you utterly ineffective.

I request that this thread be locked. We have been trolled for far to long. We should not have to suffer any more of one persons attempt to destroy others enjoyment of the game. (and to those who blindly jumped onto the bandwagon: i pity you)
At the very least i recommend the removal of 'how it ruins the game' from the title.

Oh come on, we've been munching popcorn reading this thread for days now. It still didn't get old!

So, before we get to 40 pages, let's review:

duping, bots and stealing accounts are bad.
spam bots and RMT's are annoying.
but...
multiboxing is "ok" - according to some people.

Really?

One user, playing 6 accounts simultaneously, gaining the bonus advantage of multi-farming iiq and iir is not cheating according to some people.

Just to be clear since some posters in this thread are having difficulty understanding:

A player who uses a multiboxing system gains a direct advantage over other players who do not use a multiboxing system.

One more time, just to make sure:

Multiboxing is not included with Path Of Exile. Multiboxing is not a universally available play method.

All of the excuses, troll attacks and blatant subterfuge can't wash away the reality of multiboxing. It's a cheat. The same as duping, botting, stealing accounts, etc.

Those who defend this cheating practice should be suspect for their in game behavior as they may be ruining PoE before this AMAZING game is even fully released.

Treat them as they implicitly treat you.
