A Community Almost Completely Devoid of Sympathy and Empathy

Delusional Ramblings...

So after all this you come to the conclusion that you are a toxic jerk becuase you have seen prior examples in other threads?

This is an absurd defense for behavior you complete control yourself.

You choose when, and what to say. If you are so weak minded, that merely reading another post causes you to lose decision making ability, and emotional control, seek help. God only know how you might react to a movie or documentary.

Truth is, no one really gives a shit what you do or think. You dont need GGG to ban you, just leave. Or stay and dont come to the forums. Or do whatever the fuck else you want. NO ONE CARES.

However staying and acting out will result in consequences, mostly for that fact that it's an unnecessary situation that GGG cant allow to continue.

Long story for short, I-don't-really-wannabe-school-counselors-before-doctoral dissertation are trying to stop "one uppers" like me to jerk off too hard in the room meanwhile some cool kids are tasting their cold bloods under the table. (I do understand their efforts on a tiny budget.)

That sounds good for you, doesn't it ? ;)

Btw, we were talking about the civil society, not about deconstruction theorum. please stay on the topic.

@HwtChirino

I was about to come and you stopped it. :(

I just asked you to formulate your argument normally instead of typing stuff i have to decipher.

If you can't make your point simple and concise im going to assume a lack of knowledge to do so.

Just type what you wanna say instead of dancing around some ethereal notion of the concept your trying to convey with sophistry, its not intelligent, in fact its the opposite.

And "gaze" theory is a part of deconstruction theorum, which is why i mentioned it. I didn't bring it up, you did.

When you read a book written in the past or theory, you read its historical context in the book, not refer the "history of philosophy" chart.

13 pages in and I am not sure what it even is about. Was the point to encourage reasonable discourse on the forum? Because if so, calling everyone in this community "devoid of sympathy and empathy"... Well, that's not really a constructive way of going about it, is it.

OP, I think you will find that if you breach a subject in a constructive and nuanced way that there are plenty people on here who are perfectly willing and able to engage in productive conversation. Better yet, if you remain civil, trolls in any thread will stick out like a sore thumb and you will easily be able to identify and ignore them.

Yes, obviously people can be dicks sometimes. But don't forget that you are part of the forum too. There is plenty you yourself can do to make it a better experience for yourself and others.

+1 to Gandalf.
The Sirus fight is a disgrace.
This is literally every social game out there right now. I'd blame it being mostly because children are, in general, toxic little shits, because of two major things: puberty and no real world consequences. Yet, you have to remember there are definitely scumbag adults out there as well who find solace in the anonymity of a computer/TV screen.

Different games have different demographics, so the age of a game's populace varies from title to title, but it's all the same in the end with one fact: about 50% of the human race is uncouth trash. This community is a paradise compared to that of League of Legends. If you want to see the XXXXXXtremes of shitty human beings in a video game, go play ranked matches in League of Legends, haha.

Nono, you read the book and what it says.

And if you want historical context then we have other books for that, which again, you "just read".

To the op:

Game forums are normally short on Empathy. Sure, we all wish it could be different, but its part of a larger issue where people get online and get internet beer muscles.

Lecturing everyone about it is only going to invite more of the same, and let me help you to the end of this whole thing:

You will NEVER, EVER be the white knight who gets an internet community to "change its ways" because you "spoke up".

That's fantasy land stuff right there that will never happen.

And you can spare us all the self-righteous cliche moral preening of "well, if I don't do it, who will!!!".

No one likes the toxicity, but all posts like these come down to is the over side of the coin - those that love to lecture others because of a self-professed moral duty, which is really just self-satisfaction wrapped in a mixture of ignorance and hubris - it really is just the same level of toxicity as the forums but expressed in a different manner.

If you REALLY care?

Stop whining. Be the change you want others to be instead of lecturing them about it.

But most are too lazy to actually do that - they'd rather lecture others about how those vile nasty posters should listen to their "moral betters"...

To be honest, GMs, I would consider it a kindness if you suspended my account.

I regret the hundreds of dollars I've donated to this company. I regret ever being corroded by the vast majority of assholes that play this game, so that now I am even more of an asshole than I ever was before playing PoE.

The level of condescension and callous, incessant ridicules and attacks among the predominant cohort within the PoE community is far too pervasive to promote any sort of mental wellness within this community.

This is the underlying problem with on-line negativity. People having this self-righteous attitude and an unwillingness to accept one's own responsibility in their actions.

With the onslaught of social media it makes me miss the aol days of ASL where the most prominent dangers were sexual predators and Nigerian princes. Nowadays on-line interaction serves more often as an anger amplifier, turning even the most mundane disagreements into expletive-laden bouts.
Yep, totally over league play.
I'm shocked, shocked that there are full of random people being dicks in a online gaming community.
