Overall, I don't think that it'll stay exactly like this. I'm pretty sure GGG isn't going to turn a blind eye to this.

I really hope you're right, but my outlook is not terribly optimistic. They have a long history of leaving things in an awful state for several leagues before fixing them. It would be encouraging if they'd at least acknowledge the multiple problems with this atlas and tell us what they're doing to solve them. Personally I have no doubt that they'll shorten the grind in an attempt to retain casual players eventually, but I am worried that they may never bring back the level of control I enjoyed with the previous atlas, and I fear the game may be dead to me forever.

Sadly, I totally agree. This new atlas system is the most grind I've ever encountered in any single PC game I've ever played, and frankly it's the most boring too. I fear their "fix" though, as all they ever seem to do now is introduce yet more RNG as the solution to everything. I really loathe RNG now.
I loved Path of Exile.
I do not love Path of RNG.
Bloom gives me migraines, the over usage of darkness strains my eyes.
Save our game, remove all of the constant RNG and allow us to turn off Bloom or give us an in game brightness control!
I am enjoying this league so much.

I love how maps sustain is so high that i never have to worry about running out.

using white watchstone to make it higher tier is an awesome idea too.

however, I love to focus on one map and keep running. like elder t16.

this new atlas is indeed too grindy, and i dont think ill be playing new league like this.

for streamer, it might be a good thing but for casual player like myself, it's too much.

i enjoyed it because it was new. if this grind is the new theme for every new league.... then idk what to say.
I just bump this because I'm so fed up with GGG releasing alpha after alpha and not putting ANY effort into QoL features.

I'm really hating this new atlas! I'm not enjoying my game anymore!
I've barely played this league, but it didn't take me long to realize the Atlas is fucked. I don't understand how anyone could play even a dozen maps and think it's well designed. And it messes up map drops in the rest of the game! If a t11 drops somewhere, but you don't have that tier unlocked, the map just disappears into the aether.

I actually love the league, but the Atlas is such a turn off, I don't want to play the game anymore.

even at 150/159 and only 40 on the awakening bonus because thats another joke.. barely self sustaining despite having those %'s before I could at least get 1-2 red maps per t16 now barely 1 or nothing.

How is this possible? I'm not trying to be confrontational or anything, but I'm having the opposite outcome. Back in the old Atlas, I couldn't sustain red maps to save my life and I only just heard that you're supposed to play ping pong with the Elder influence after the rework.

Now? I'm sustaining T14+ maps and I haven't needed to change how I play in the slightest. I just alch+vaal and go, and the game just gives me red maps when I happen to get one with 100%+ IIQ. Every once in a while, I'll use sextants and scarabs to get a little extra, but it doesn't feel like a requirement. I only have 130/159 and 6 awakening bonus too.

I'm not gonna complain, because the biggest issue I've had with PoE over the past couple years is that I felt I had to run maps VERY SPECIFICALLY in order to sustain reds, which no longer appears to be the case. It's one of the best improvements they've made to the Atlas in my opinion.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

I'm also drowning in red maps with 150 atlas bonus and 150 awakening bonus. Map sustain is not really an issue. Especially if you do most of your daily missions as they accumulate. (I still completely ignore Alva though, because I can't stand incursion).

The issue isn't map sustain, but the lack of ability to narrow down the maps that drop into just the layouts you want to run. Every region has some god awful maps on most tiers that just make me want to uninstall rather than play.

I've been neglecting my daily missions for sub-T14 maps and I still manage to sustain. However, you are correct that doing them greatly improves drops.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to sympathize. It's not because I don't care, but rather that I never took advantage of shaping maps then sealing the unshaped ones. I will say that I agree with your other statement about most tiers having some terrible maps in there. I absolutely hate Acid Caverns, I never look forward to watching the bosses there laugh at my minions to death with their ranged AoE spam. It would be nice to make them stop dropping.

Yeah, the nice thing about my proposed cartographer's seal is that you could run any strategy you like with it. Even if you DO want most of the maps to drop, you could just seal the ones you absolutely hate, like Acid Caverns in your case. For me the number of maps I hate is in the double digits, though :\
GGG, please acknowledge that this is an issue you take seriously. Or tell me the lack of map drop control is intentional so I can just uninstall and never look back.
