Path of Exile is designed entirely to addictive gaming attitudes in the arpg space.
Path of Exile is the top tier for achieving the highest percentage of getting those type of players to hammer away at it.
The Youtube Path of Exile fans are those with dark rings under and over their eyes.

Normal for me would be wanting to buy support packs for none of the reasons above and not trying to get out of it what it doesn't give back.
After more than a week plahing with Atlas above 140/50 (currently 148, 85), I can definitely say that map sustain at that level is not really an issue.

Spawning conquerors is still annoying, especially since I'm still hunting 7th and 8th watchstone. The problem is that I'm running out of maps from specific regions where I need those conquerors to spawn to obtain last few watchstones. This has become a problem as I simply run out of maps in 2 regions and when I run other regions to replenish my maps, I have spawned a conqueror there and wasted a cycle this way.

Hunting watchstones creates a schizophrenic situation where you have benefits and drawbacks working against each other. You want to have Awakaned levels as high as possible on your Atlas to get better/more rewards but at the same time you want to get map drops from specific regions, which can be achieved by not increasing their tiers via watchstones socketing, which results in lower Awakened level of your Atlas.

You also need certain awakened level for awakened map bonus, which further complicates the situation.

I wish that GGG makes spawning conquerors in regions where you still miss some stones faster to let us get 32 watchstones faster. Once you have all 32, proc chance can go back to where it is now.

I'm definitely not looking forward to doing this all over again next league. It takes too much time and concerted effort to progress through the new sytem. I do not care much about Sirus himself as I'm not too focus on end-game but unlocking Atlas was always my goal, which is now a lot less compelling.

Another issue is with the rarity of Elder and Shaper fights. I have killed Sirus 4 times now but had 0 Elder or Shaper fights. I have 1 set for Shaper and still miss 1 fragment for Uber Elder. Granted, I'm not buying any maps or fragments but I still feel these fights are now too rare.

With this excerpt from the Delirium League announcement I am still worried that they won't reintroduce a way to block unwanted map drops. They seem determined to push players to play the atlas in a linear fashion towards higher tier maps and higher awakening levels, rather than using it for customization.
More UI clutter. More micromanagement. Still no way to upgrade the specific maps you want. Still no way to undo map completion. This is . . . not the way to fix the Atlas.

Are map drops outside of the Atlas going to be fixed? Will I still need to pull the hideout trick to get progression to trigger? Zana missions? Etc.

Six or eight or however many maps to get a boss to spawn is such goddamned pain in the ass.

I saw that post regarding atlas "changes" until I see it for myself and see what they can explain on the manifesto the atlas endgame behind RNG fest it's still bad.

and there's no mention on how fast you will regrind the 32 stones lets hope you dont need 600-800 maps to reach the real endgame.

Atlas bugged out for me again. Ran a map in a Drox-influenced zone and no influence spawned so I didn't get any progression towards Drox and, by extension, Sirus. Awesome. Can't wait to re-grind through this clusterfuck again in 3.10.
You call it a chore but that is the gameplay for me. Pre 3.9 i was usually losing all interest in mapping after killing uber elder a dozen times. When atlas is unlocked there is nothing to look forward to for me. With new atlas journey is a lot more fun, getting watchstones is what keeps me going. Forcing bosses to spawn afterwards is too grindy, yeah, but watchstones are great. Well, i was always going for full atlas anyway, so new system is definitely suits my preference.

The problem is the new system shits on everyone who preferred to set up the atlas to customize their map drops. There are ways to keep both kinds of players happy instead of making one kind miserable. Without a way to block unwanted map layouts from dropping, the game is unplayable for me.
