EDIT: Atlas is saved.

Gah I haven't posted in ages but this thread pulled me back in, at least temporarily.

I think the simple answer to the last couple of pages of frustration going from whites to yellows in the early Atlas progression is Zana.

Zana refreshes EVERY DAY now, not just when you do her mission, and EVERY MISSION COMPLETION, not just once per day. Her inventory of available maps is much more expansive than it used to be, seems to favor uncompleted maps and has your highest tier regularly available.

If I could offer any other piece of advice it would be to spend as little time in white maps as possible and keep pushing progression. I made the mistake of trying to complete as many maps as possible at white level whereas with the new system you don't have to do that anymore and you can do the completions at any tier (provided you do the correct rarity). It is not very intuitive but I think the next time I do the Atlas I will be much more efficient.

Finally - I feel the pain of everyone else here. The system is fundamentally flawed but I also think it has it's positives as well. Once you get rolling, maintaining high tier maps is a cakewalk, orders of magnitude easier than the previous Altas. I have not bought a single map (ever) and I think I am only missing 2 normal maps (not uniques). Just be prepared to invest in Zana a lot, and refresh her inventory constantly.

A lot or people seem to be missing the point of this thread. I don't have any problems with map sustain or progressing the atlas early on. My issue is with the lack of control over which maps can drop within each region. This makes the endgame AFTER you've gone through the ordeal of collecting all your watchstones boring and unrewarding. I want to be able to manipulate the atlas again and block annoying maps from dropping.
I ran quite a few maps last night and after a couple hours I found myself just staring blankly at my map tab. I had run so many maps that irritated me I just didn't want to do it anymore. Map sustain is fine. IMO, sirus spawn is fine too. But some of these maps are just cancer to run. And those maps seem to be the only ones that drop for me.

Please, for the love of God, give us some control of our map pool. I can't take much more of this. I love this game, but I can't see myself lasting much longer with these junk maps. It's just not fun, and at the end of the day that's all I care about. Fun.

Agreed. The worst in this new atlas mess is having to do all the shit maps over and over. And some of them are rly trash to the point of losing any will to play.

And map trade... is hell specially if ur a looking for good maps (that EVERYONE likes too...)

just because you don't have the problem doesnt make it any less of an issue.. let others voice why this shitty ass system in general with their spawn and taunt system is bad as well..

I do believe that the sustain is shit with this atlas.. or my "luck" was better before this bad hamster wheel was designed.

nothing wrong with it.

Like I said, this thread isn't about map sustain. I'd just like to stay on topic.
Bump. I'd also like to point you towards this thread on reddit, which highlights a lot of issues with the atlas, although it does not completely cover the need for more control over individual map drops by blocking adjacent maps: https://old.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/eqjtuo/issues_concerning_the_new_atlas/

+1 for this, more customization on the atlas. I regret not playing selfcast frostbolt/ice nova last league because i'm sure as hell not doing it this league since you're somewhat forced to do maps with un-optimal layout for certain builds.

They want some diversity, yet tries to push away the part where you can tailor your atlas for your build. I had a good time last league with selfcast arc and magma orb in elder ghetto, good div card and fat density. When you find a good combo and enjoy a build you play more.
If you're now expected to run even just 50% of the type of t16 you will not enjoy all builds as much and can become frustrating and quit earlier. I'm not even sure what their goal with this atlas is for long term playing during a league. Also a bit weird since it's well known that there's a big part of community that prefers to farm a chosen map and just ignore bossing.

One simple, even temporary idea, could be that awakener lvl 8 sirus drops once a quest item watchstone which locks maps in the area you socket it into to only drop. At least that way you could force atlas somewhat to your liking.

Another thing could be to get an option to downgrade a t16 map to t15, and vice versa. That way you would never run 1 map only, but still drop between 30+ map types, but at least you could shape the drops to maps you feel like running.
Like an awakener orb for maps X(T16)|Y(T15) = X(T15)|Y(t16)
You just wasted 3 seconds reading this.

This article explains so much why it fails atm on my atlas.
Did sirus after 20 stones. After that the stones get a kind of reset and all influences at all regions/stones are possible again.
I am really stuck on the stones. Got 3 area's with influence but no conqueror spawn whatever i do.
Running white, yellow, red, different maps, same maps, maps having the required level for the stones.
I am hardly playing just browsing the forum if there is a solution for this problem.
Is this because of the latest patch, or is it the sirus mechanism?

And the most annoying fact is that there is no response on the official GGG site.
When reading articles like this and pushing the "view staff posts" give me 0 result on almost every topic concerning this matter.
All information i get is from youtube, reddit or any other site.

GGG Please give more information about this subject. It is making people angry and the silence on youre official site wont help you either.
It will only generate endless topics about the same mess.
