Game unplayable since patch 3.9.0e? for Win7 users (FPS issue) STILL A PROBLEM AFTER 3.9.1b :(

Bumping because it's still relevant. Restarting the game after every map since 3.9.0e sure is fun.

Just wanted to leave my experience here as well. Have not been able to play much over the Christmas Holidays due to this. After a bit of playing I'll start getting crashes and error messages as I watch my ram usage continually climb. Started after 3.9.0E

Windows 7 64bit
Geforce GTX 1060 6gb
Intel I5 3570k
16gb ram

Well... I gotta take my previous ramblings about Win10 on VirtualBox back. It works. I threw all caution to the wind, and upgraded my actual win7 to win10, spent 2 hours deleting useless spyware preinstalled by Microsoft, downloading endless updates, disabling or outright deleting some "data collection services"... and after everything - it works.

PoE doesn't eat more than 4gbs of RAM (tested through intense yellow to red mapping with abysses, metamorphs, breaches, Alva dailies, repeated opening and closing of passive tree, etc.)

So yeah, if you can't take it anymore, go and commit a blasphemy - upgrade to win10.

I would upgrade to Win10, but it fails. "Reverting changes made to your system" then it boots back into Windows 7. Fun times, even on a legitimate Windows 7 key.

Could you clarify if it actually helps after you're finished with upgrading? I've tried installing win10 in a VM Virtual Box and PoE was still 'leaking' like crazy. There are also many people with win10 claiming that they have the same problem. That's why I highly doubt that it will help.

Just upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10, game working without problem.
No crush, lag spike or anything after 3 hours of play.

good for u now back to "normal" ppl who wont buy new pc or reinstall whole PC over 1 game

I wish I'd known that a few hours ago. I just finally gave in after the game being unplayable since the upgrade to 3.9 and put a paid version of Win 10 on it.

I have several legit keys for 7, 8 and 8.1. I even tried to activate with the 8.1 key and it said it wasn't valid. Now I know that I could have continued anyway and it would likely have validated after connecting to MS servers.

Oh well I wasn't *completely* broke after Xmas, I was saving a bit of dosh for New Year. That's gone now. :-/

win 10 promotion - good job.....

Well im not gonna screw my entire system with all the installed programms, data, settings, links and games just to play Path of Exile.

The new Atlas is garbage anyway.

But keep the Windows 10 promotion up, not like we discussing the many flaws of GGG's Quality assurance or lack of beta testing and such.

This disaster is totally the players fault, GGG cant do wrong.

I'm gonna better quit this stupid game than upgrade to win I don't want and don't even need. This game is becoming TOO demanding. Enough is enough. And I don't think that people are gonna make such a sudden jump to win10 even though win7 won't be supported. Had no problems with win7 ever and hopefully won't have any for quite some time.

Other games manage to run well on win7 no problem. D3 for example?

It's only garbage PoE which constantly has problems with everything. If the devs are incompetent at their work or lazy it's not my problem. If they would want they would make it work. Reverting one patch to solve problems was too difficult it seems though they have reverted patches in the past no problem :D I guess they are taking a different easier approach, if it works good if not f*ck you, maybe we will fix it one day, tough luck pal.
