Looks like a lot of players don't want to play tower defence.

So GGG can do whatever they want, but I don't want to hear "why was Synthesis, Bestiary, and now Blight far less successful than other leagues?" Its fucking obvious why.

Extremely obvious, more people than not are near brain-dead and lazy. As soon as a game comes out where you can do less and still tell all your friends "Lookit guys im playing numbers game" all those players will be gone. Regardless of how fan servicey GGG makes the leagues.

So it's definitely the best idea to try to add more of an actual game to it. Regardless of how great you think the game used to be, it was fucking raw and bland. It still is. It's great, but there's hardly anything there other than pretty visuals and a giant passive tree.

That's not gonna hold peoples attention forever. It would me, but that's just because I'm sure they plan on doing great things with the game. Beyond slay "x", "x" amount of times, congratulations you're powerful.

I'm not sure calling the classic hack and slash arpg fan braindead and lazy accomplishes anything, but ok you do you.

Meh again it doesnt matter. The player counts, retention, and financials speak for themselves.

Why does it get +Projectile Speed for quality instead of damage FFS...it's already fast. >_>

Because projectile speed es freakin' awesome on FP, and increases both range and effective damage? Read up a bit, and you would understand that projectile spped is very important on FP. It does in fact increase your effective damage the further away you are, because of how FP loses its damage based on range.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Lol, yeah, because people are playing this like a classic hack and slash. It's Cookie Clicker to 70% or more of the players. They just copy some streamers build that took absolutely no thought, because GGG made it broken for them, then spam their way through everything.

The players you keep referring to aren't playing the game at all.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

So much to say about this comment.

I'll just make one point about this statement here:

"

I disagree with this opinion. PoE can be overwhelming to some. For others it's an opportunity for research and development.

And so, PoE offers diversity:
i). A platform for theory-crafting and deep investigation of options (hence we have a lot of viable builds, not just meta).
ii) A platform for people that don't want to think too much and invest too much time into their build vs. actual play time (hence we have meta builds).

You can do both with PoE.

It's not about being 'brain-dead and lazy'.
It's about character creation vs. play time, or a combination of both.
What do players want to spend their time on? What will get them the most satisfaction out of the time they spent? And what are their expectations?

Just gonna touch this one. That's not true, that's what archetypes are for. Copying meta builds is for people who don't want to actually play, so they never have to. GGG is trying to appeal to the people these games don't appeal to with that.

Ok.

First
You bring up an interesting topic: meta vs. archetype.

Second
I'm playing a summoner this league. Yep. It's meta. The last time I played meta was with winter orb in synthesis. I'm not even sure why I went winter orb, because I don't really care if a build is meta or not. Last league I played a bunch including cleave and RF, delve was sunder, etc.
This league I went meta, not for meta sake, but because I like summoners. And I haven't actually played summoner for a full league. I just saw this league as an opportunity to play something different than what I normally play, so I went summoner. AND I wanted something that would level quick.

What I'm trying to say here is: I am playing a meta build, do I fall into the category of "people who don't want to actually play, so they never have to."?

Third
I'm not sure what you mean by "...for people who don't want to actually play, so they never have to.". Can you explain this a bit more?

Fourth
As for GGG and meta builds, it would seem GGG exploits meta builds for their MTX... and thus business. I think we can agree on that. I personally don't have an issue with this... if it's good for business, go for it. As long as it doesn't affect my choice of other viable builds (archetypes?).

Wow, kinda weird that needs an explanation, but alright. When people look up some broken OP build they no longer have think about their character at all, that's half the game gone. Then they're so OP that there's literally no playing involved, they just hold LMB and spam a skill through maps, there's the other half gone.

They aren't ever doing anything in the game, they're just idling their way into telling themselves and other people that they're playing a game, when they haven't ever actually played it.

Also, I don't think you know what META means. OP doesn't mean META. Just because you played summoner doesn't mean you're following the META, unless you did actually look up the most powerful known build for it.

There is just too many bugs this league... This is the first one I have to take a break from because its nearly unplayable.
