SSF > Trade Leagues

I'm glad we have SSF... but there's two things here.

One is the desire to play SSF. Been there since day one. Lots of people played that way. Trading was cheating to them.

The second is the label SSF. Now you can't claim to play SSF while actually trading.

So in some ways, SSF is "better" that trade leagues. With that label, you know the ruleset that the player has chosen. Without that label, someone could put up an item and claim that it dropped and you wouldn't be sure.

But in terms of actual play? Nah... not even comparable. Different metrics involved. SSF players have different goals and different ways to accomplish them. SSF play isn't just trade league without trading. It's what you make of it yourself.

I always thought SSF was for people that

- have trouble interacting with others (maybe the superiority complex is generated by this, being "SSF" is just a crutch to excuse the lack of communication)
- enjoy the added challenge but are borderline masochistic.
- have a lot of time on their hands as the gameplay is gimping to say the least.
- are 100% percent casual and "afraid" or better yet overwhelmed by the mechanics so they take the "purest" approach.

It's quite funny that none of those so called reasons hit the mark. Good job being clueless!
Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Pretty sure at least some of the SSF folk go there because trading is either too overwhelming, inconvenient or involved for them to bother. I've seen posts from people who don't want any social interactions whatsoever in this game and tahts why they are SSF

Stereotyping usually does.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Sure, there might be those. But mostly, I think, it's for people who really want to challenge themselves...

I mean, I hit 36 Challenges in Perandus and basically got there off the bootstraps of 820.

And then I remember sitting there, with all this Currency in subsequent Leagues, too afraid to use the orbs for crafting because it made more sense to trade.

Now that I play SSF, I've top 10d as an Ascendant in SSF... I've been liberated from hording orbs for trading (now I horde them and USE them)... and when sweet items drop, it's a LOT more exciting (I think about the possibilities for builds rather than how many Chaos Orbs it might sell for)....

Sure, some people might go to SSF because they just can't "bother," but I think a lot of people who do SSF are people who know the game really well and want a challenge over and change from Trade Leagues.

If you're not wasting time, you're not doing it right. The whole purpose of computer games is to waste time.
When you feel like you are wasting time while playing a game you should probably do something else.

That's OK; it's OK to play and be inferior. If everyone were superior, then nobody would be. <3
