I think the part about being Melee that will always hold you back is the fact that high end content is capable of wiping you out in 1 shot. As long as 1 shot Mechanics exist being Melee will always be a drawback. As much as I like the movement options, the new stances, ascendant changes, potentially having more HP through Vaal Jewels...etc. I think getting 1-shot is something that won't be changed.

I'm aware that there are very expensive ways to make your character almost impossible to kill while playing melee but they are too expensive to play for most people who don't play for 12+hours a day, and even people who have grinded long enough to make these builds have....also...died...lol


I'm trying to remain open minded though. I'm hoping that all of the changes managed to move a lot of Melee Builds to a place where being in the crowd up close and swinging your Axe,Sword, or Mace feels great and you no longer have that feeling like something will kill you any second even if you've invested HEAVILY into defense.





Also....can Determination get a rework? or no? It's been awhile since I've attempted to even look at that skill but last time I tried I used Iron Reflexes and it turned out that Grace in that case was better than Determination LOOOOOOOL. That was years ago though. I'm pretty sure Determination is still the same (a.k.a. sucks) mostly because Armor is meh/bad.
I understand your thought that want to change character defense to manual from automatic with trigger. I think this idea is not bad. Because PoE is an action game, to control character manually make sense.

But GGG, have you forgotten the important thing? This change is "revamp of melee". As looking at this announcement, I cannot find out a reason that melee build defense becomes better than ranged build (even spell caster, it can get >20k armour).

How many players that want melee combat to enemies in same defensive condition to ranged build do you think there are?

Yes i thought you would bash on me for mentioning those. But it also shows you haven't actually understood what i wanted to tell. So let me clarify:
I mention these fights as examples where you can easily tell that they are gonna attack you. Especially the physical stuff.

Also imo, the game shoudln't be balanced around the time you can wreck stuff, but when you are actually challenged by the stuff (for example, at leaguestart, or carrying 4 people through lab).

IC was a freeticket for any clearspeed build. maybe there shoudln't be one.

So you say IC nerf is warranted because the game is balanced around trash low end bosses with super telegraphic attacks, while they introduce insanely modded bosses every new league? (Delve with broken mod combo, Cortex who gets mods and become quite insane.)

It's like game dev don't want us succeed in new contents? Great.
Or just go roll a broken HotW Jugg/ Occult or fuck off then?

Even with the best of the best build like Winter Orb Trickster would have a hard time in delve 700+, thus why you barely see any of those pass 700+ (you can count them in one hand), while Occult can easily faceroll 1300+?
So that's ok to you then? Clearspeed build should all be doomed and we should all play face-tank braindead build that never need to dodge anything instead then? You call this good design then? Those builds don't need IC or any of the new mitigation to succeed because their passive defensive mechanic is already way better than the active one.

Don't get me started many melee builds are not even inherently bulky to begin with. I thought this is a melee league then? Guess is a Jugg league then.
Jugg, who's already overpowered for 4 leagues benefit the most from this IC change hands down, and they'd probably become even more op because now they mitigate ele dm too.

I Just hope those IC and consorts will stay for longer then 2 secodns and i don't have to install foot pedal for activating it properly.

so Immportal call, is no more "Immortal" at all.
I love to see additional defensive options in the game. However I am very sceptical about the immortal call nerf. The physical damage on death effect monsters and the devourers will be very scary again. As a HC player I am mourning over IC. But I will give it chance, let see how it turns out.
