Steelskin and the Guard Skills

Okay so they've just destroyed what's probably the most frequently used CWDT setup in the game (CWDT + Immortal Call) and everyone's like "oh cool" or "neat!"

I'm not sure if people have quite realized what this means for squishy characters who really lean on that CWDT.

Also, I don't primarily play melee, but so far I'm seeing only nerfs to melee defences? No changes to armour, all meaningful defensive measures can now only be manually cast.

Not sure this big melee "rework" is going to work out the way people want it to.
maybe they don't want you playing squishy?
Big Huge Thanks for nerfing IC!!!
Let's welcome more 1-shot and more lost of 10% exp, make the peasants waste more of their time in leveling from 75-100, which otherwise their time is useless worthless and meaningless anyway. GGG is such a savior!

In any case, I'd be happy to see more alternatives to CWDT + IC, since yes, it is ubiquitous. But the reason it's ubiquitous is because it is currently literally the only way in the game to have a chance to survive massive, sudden physical hits.

Moving from one viable setup to zero is not going to improve diversity. In fact it's possible that this will kill huge numbers of builds, resulting in "meta" builds being even more narrow and fewer in number.

There aren't any. I use my CwDT setups for other things. Like Blind setups, Cold Snap for frenzy charges, Frost Wall, etc. So how do I survive massive, sudden physical hits? Same way everyone else does - build tanky (and these new Guard skills will likely help with that), or just don't. IC does fuck all for 'massive, sudden physical hits', since it activates only after you've taken damage. It's used by most for countering rapidfire repeated hits, like the porcupine explosions or any mobs with a machinegun attack pattern (like the Chimerals in Act 3). You might find, if you drop IC, that with a pretty normal HP / ES pool and some defense those mobs aren't really as scary as IC's ubiquity might suggest - like I said, it's used as often partially because it's so ingrained that many don't question it. I've faced those mobs in everything upto t16 in builds without IC, and mostly been fine for it.

And I'm not so pessimistic about this killing 'huge numbers of builds' either (and I'm hardly alone in that feeling: both here and on Reddit there have been both positive and negative reactions) - likely the only builds that will be strongly affected by this are those delve real deep (say, 1000+), and that's a tiny tiny minority of the playerbase. And, frankly, if that progress is based on some level of immunity mechanics, then I've little sympathy for the loss (they've been steadily nerfing immunity builds for several patches now too).

It's called automation GGG. You added trigger skills to the game so don't use this language with me.

Yeah, seriously. I'm sorry-not-sorry I didn't spend any RL passive skill points on crystal meth >.>
Awakened Combustion Support when?
GGG, if you change Immortal Call, also change those damn Porcupines.

Sure, if they want to cut the number of possible viable builds by some huge percentage.

I was looking forward to the next league, but if the only way for casters to survive is going to be massively expensive ES builds (since max-dex isn't exactly easy reach from the templar/witch side of the tree), well I guess I'll give this one a miss too.

If alternatives had been found, don't you think maybe some builds would be using them? Still waiting for even ONE serious suggestion for anything even half-comparable to CWDT + IC.

Oh and Delve is only ONE situation out of several that's been mentioned as a problem. How many people fight Uber Atziri/Uber Elder/etc. Bet it's a lot more than .001%

The bold part is the reason it will get nerfed... seriously, think about it. No other skill compares to it... that means its like Winter orb.

And how exactly is physical damage a problem on Uber Elder? pls explain

-----
I myself look forward to having IC work on elemental damage. That's way scarier most of the time. Physical damage can be dodged (as in activley moving out of harms way) way easier (i.e. izaro, shaper come to mind).

I'm a little scared of porcupines though, ill admit that

It can be argued either way if "build tanky" should be the only way to survive the endgame, but no matter which side of that argument you're on, forcing everyone to go tanky if they want to engage in endgame content can only mean a reduction in build variety, not an increase.

No other skill compares to it because it's the sole solution to a problem which exists in the game which huge numbers of builds cannot otherwise deal with.

If your stance is that those builds should not exist, well... that's certainly a position you can take.
So you give us the worst league ever and you proceed to remove IC. Looking forward to those 20k players online after 1 week

My advice is to find the mole that Blizzard planted in GGG before he runs the game to the ground
