I started reading this in Chris Wilson's voice, but quickly realized I cannot read as fast as he can speak and my brain melted...
On a real note though, this is actually good to hear, I can maintain my hype for the next league announcement, as well as the 4.0.0 mega expansion (every "expansion" has been glorious and well worth the wait). Not every league will be a hit, personally I am not a fan, and it feels to me like the league mechanics deliberately try and waste the players time, which is never a fun feeling unless you PLAN to play in that manner (aka playing Carcassonne or Civilization etc.) I am hoping for optimization improvements soon, as each league it seems to get worse and worse, and some streamlining in handling the mass ever-growing variety of different objectives in the game (Temple, Mine, Map progression, Elder influence, Prophecies, Synthesis tiles, Syndicate management, etc.) that are all starting to overlap :(
The level of RNG that has been added to challenges for me has doubled the amount of playtime required to complete 40/40. It went from a fun grind with a clear goal in sight to a tedious repetition with zero progress each run. I'm up to a measly eight thousand hours, I find the game incredibly fun and have trucked through many leagues, each downtime between leagues has been time to recharge and find other things to do for a while, only to come back for the new league and do it again. For myself, possibly others, the massive RNG addition to the challenges has pushed the completion of a league far enough back that the recharge between might be insufficient. I burned out and quit after completing betrayal due to this.
I am just one person though, and this is by far my favourite game. Challenges are what kept me going. Last edited by sedyana on May 1, 2019, 11:28:33 PM

Thank you everyone at GGG for creating and maintaining such an enjoyable experiance!

Love you chris and GGG always but... you need more times don't you?
the 3.7 combine with 3.8 running until Exilecon better be. it could wait and i would support.
That last statement geez. Okay, so it seems like you still don't have an idea what or how to solve this problem so let me tell you what I think. Your problem is you still have multiple problems that you haven't solve and yet you keep on adding content that are potentially MORE problems in the future! Do you mind slowing down a bit because it is obvious that GGG can't handle this much load. In short words, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY!

Although I respect the straightforward nature of the post, I must say the players complaints seem less like they want more work out of you, and more easy quality of life issues.
Leaving betrayal where you can skip it is not a manpower issue, its a choice. Having trade intentionally suck is 99% a choice. It would take a small amount of work over time to fix this. Its a choice. Changing berserkers to not suck and mostly be ignored by the players is not manpower intensive, you can change one line of code (+more damage) and experiment with them. I think GGG is obsessed with new content, while players would be happy with unlimited delve and adressing quality of life issues. Do they even need a 3.7 mechanic? So, I respect the honesty and directness, but I think its inaccurate to say most players want the devs to work 14 hours a day. I think they just want the devs to consider QOL in the game and consider player requests (yes I know many conflict, but doesnt mean no solutions are possible).
Oh please Chris, don't worry about this. We know you do your very best, there's no doubt about it. And if anything, synthesis gave me the chance to take a very needed break from the game.
I agree that a lot of things in this league got busted, but in no way that means I'm planning on stopping any time soon. Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate your words and your way of handling stuff. With the amount of bullshit going around for development teams at this time it's easy to forget why we love you so dearly. Please, take your time, and, as I said, if anything, synthesis made us take ours. I do have to agree with a lot of my fellow exiles here, we mostly want QoL changes for a lot of stuff that has been postponed several times and need to be addressed asap, but we understand everything you are going through, thank you again. " I would be so sad living life thinking that everyone wants to fuck you up.
Glad to hear there's work/life balance at GGG, and I assume being based in an area where there isn't an unlimited supply of applicants to draw from ensures you see it differently.
That Epic Fortnight content delivery schedule was something the company brought on itself, not the players. No one in their wildest dreams would have considered much less DEMANDED such an aggressive content delivery schedule for Fortnite, but they just kept rolling out the patches, updates, game modes, seasons, MTX, etc. It's crazy, but that's the standard they set. I've always enjoyed the honesty and frankness from GGG communications. You don't want to get like Blizzard where you're literally afraid to address the community for fear that they will misconstrue anything you say as "a promise you can't go back on." There's nothing wrong with having your own vision for the game - it's why many of us joined up in the first place. |
