An Update from Chris

Chris, you are a uniquely marvelous company leader for the way you engage with and respond to your player base, and POE has been (and I believe will be) a marvelous and unique game for the way it continues to evolve and grow and adapt for us.

I can't say Synthesis has been one of my favorite leagues, but even when you all swing and miss it is clear that your heart is behind your product and that your intent is to keep it improving. It's probably good for y'all to hear once in a while how much we appreciate you.

Thank you Chris and everybody else at GGG for such a great game and even better the awesome transparent communication policy you guys have!

Keep it up
Thanks. I was fairly annoyed at another queue of stuff to keep up on when I just wanted to clear maps. Glad it won't be going league.

And thanks for being open and honest, it is a big portion of why I spend so much.

You are right.
We tested it extensively
In all seriousness, the number one reason I support and play this game is because of the open and honest dialog between the Dev team and the community. GGG is one of the few developers left that seem to truly consider their players as partners instead of a necessary evil.

You treat us with respect, appreciation and honesty. That alone has earned my business and will continue to do so. Can't wait for the 4.0 reveal and ExileCon streams, you guys routinely over deliver.
PoE (and GGG) has MANY flaws. I still love you guys. I can't think of many companies that care about us and our opinion the way you do - and it's great to see that the workers get the same treatment. I believe we are a bit spoiled, getting good content after good content, and for us that can make it difficult to swallow when a league comes a bit sideways. It shouldn't, though, go over the fact that, mostly, our experience with the game is not only positive but awesome. I've spent some cash on the game, not nearly as much as some friends, and not nearly as much as many other players as well, but never have I thought that it was money thrown away - on the contrary, I usually hope to make more money to be able to spend on the game, since I believe it's just fair to compensate for something that makes me feel so good most of the time.

Also, make sure Bex gets some sleep.
Very solid answer IMO. Thank you, Chris, for addressing this directly, and good luck for 3.7 and beyond, you know we'll be there :).

(and for the love of god stop making huge complex leagues during the christmas holiday season, it's the second time in a row now, come on :D).

A big topic in the gaming industry recently is development crunch. Some studios make their teams work 14 hour days to pack every patch full of the most fixes and improvements possible. Sometimes when we read our own Patch Notes threads and community feedback, we feel that we are being asked to do the same. I will not run this company that way. While there's inevitably a bit of optional paid overtime near league releases, the vast majority of a Path of Exile development cycle has great work/life balance. This is necessary to keep our developers happy and healthy for the long-term, but it does mean that some game improvements will take a while to be made.

The mental health and workplace wellbeing of GGG matters to me, as a player and a customer and a human being in 2019.

Do what you gotta do.

Thanks for the game GGG <3
