An Update from Chris
yes we need to be realistic: the game is flawed with tons of rudimental outdated features and has lots of problems. i would agree to get filler league (leagacy for example) so devs can focus on issues and take their time.

"Good. It needs rework just like Bestiary did(which I think is in a good state atm) " Thank you so much for taking that into consideration and actually attempting to revamp the gameplay. It's absolutely clear combat in this game is non-existant pretty much, power creep made everything feel pointless and meaningless. Seeing such a comment from a lead developer makes me feel warm inside and have hope for this game that I still love to this day no matter what. And thank you for connecting to the community, treating us like a family, with respect. Not many game developers do that these days and that's why many of them fail miserably. I have hope in future of Path of Exile. Live long!
Thank you very much Chris. I have not enjoyed the synthesis mechanic, but appreciate how open you are with us. Looking forward to the next league!

Great Game and Company!
Thanks Chris :) | |
Option One in the OP, for when dealing with game feedback, is the better of the two options.
As mentioned in the OP, there are other ARPGs in the market or coming to the market. With such an abundance of options for players, it would be pretty difficult to justify not-dealing with issues that are affecting gameplay or are receiving substantial attention and publicity in the player community. Some players may elect to wait but others will move on. As for derailing up to seven projects in development, that sounds like it's a resource management issue. One does not expect full investment of time and resources to fix and improve existing content, but shelving development time and resources to these existing problems in favour of potential future content is rather ill-advised. Broadly, current problems, regardless of whether they affect the entire player base or a subset of it, should be addressed with priority, because they constitute the current state of the company's product (i.e. the current game). Whether or not the mechanics in concern will be integrated in a future iteration of the game (i.e. new league) is irrelevant. Dissatisfaction will grow, if left unaddressed, and this is the risk that GGG will bear. For a high profile game like Path of Exile, these things will circulate on various gaming media and other communities; it seems to me like an unnecessary risk. Perhaps, as suggested by other players, the development cycle could be extended from 3 to 4 or 6 months. Having only 2 or 3 leagues a year will allow for more time for the team to work on and polish content before their release. It will also enable the team to work on other things like improving and fixing existing content, improving trade, working on console gameplay, hosting conventions and running various Q&A, while maintaining their work-life balance.
Thanks for explanation. But what about stop with 13-week leagues and make a 20-week leagues or something in order to put better quality fun? What about overbuff meta skills/mechs and overnerf off-meta ones that cause 30% of players to play 1 skill?
Min-maxing one build whole league when in next league you can change the meta with another overnerfs and overbuffs where mirror-worthy items go to vendor isnt attractive even for Standart league players; and trying for those gg items when league is gonna end right when you get them isnt cool too /sorry, we have to work too/. Also re-think whats best for the game, but not how you want it to be, if you care to do so. Sure, there are many and hard decisions to make and cant make all players happy, but think how more than 1 type of players will play the game and how to balance around that instead make a full-melee and full-caster and full-archer leagues. As a fan of the game itself /i play since 1.0 and PoE is one of the two games i play for years/, put more time and efford and think twice before nerf something that is gonna be nerfed again from the new meta or before add something close to broken just to get players' attention for that 1 month in new league. Would be shame to see this unique and good-looking game semi-dead, played by its 10k maniacs only. Also care with 4.0.0 because expectations are huge and we cant wait for it. GL. Looking forward to 3.7 and melee changes... I always prefered to be a melee fighter. I really hope there are some significant changes what makes melee even to range attacks and spells. I feel atm there is just no point in playing melee. Melee needs a USP which makes it better in some way like a short duration buff after using a melee skill that reduces damage taken and increases movement speed.
I am really excited for 3.7 and just hope the league will not be too complex:) And please solve the performance issues... " Do not worry, ggg is good at making deadly nerfs so if melee do not get needed buffs, then other classes will get their own nerfs to balance...or both most likely. :) Slow down for a minute to enjoy the beauty around us.
