Time Capsule from PoE Closed Beta -- a classic PoE vs D3 thread circa 2012

Yeah, Path of exile really had me feeling... careful.

Just like the time of the first boss in D1... *shudders*.
The bosses in PoE does it right, when i think of them i tink of how horridly they can kill me HC character.

That said, Torchlight 2 is a nice game too.
Not really gritty but more diablo then diablo 3.

If a boss or enemy doesnt makes me feel "cmere, let me end your life pitiful adventurer mwahahaha!".
Then the game kidna goes into the "Do i care enough about this game? No...it doesnt make me cautious".

Torchlight 1 is still fun at the harder difficulties aswell.

Anyway, great post OP.

Diablo 1 still has the best music to me aswell. :p

I'm bumping this (potentially even a necro) because a lot of the recent posts and threads are calling for people's opinions on the matter. This is mine, made from virtually my first few days playing the game.

There are several threads in the beta invite discussion board about this -- but my personal sentiment is that is $10 is beyond your means, you probably shouldn't be getting into something this addictive to begin with. ;)

Or wait until Open Beta, slated for August.

I'd love to pay the 10$- but sadly I have no credit card or paypal or anything like this so I have to wait if the system they have in place will give me one or somebody else will. As for threads where you ask for the key - I have a feeling there are a lot more people asking for the key then there are those who can give it.

i approached Diablo I in the exact same way as you did. And Path of Exile seems to take this experience even several! steps further.

Great post! I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately I never got to experience Diablo 1, but I did play D2 a lot. (a lot is an understatement).

Right now, I'm pretty low on funds. Being a college student and in my current situation I almost live from pay check to pay check. I'm hoping I'll be able to become a supporter on 25th when I get payed. I already got beta access from the random timer tho :) (took a couple months) So glad I did, because I probably would've never gave this game a second look if it wasn't for that email.

If anyone else here is wondering "should I buy a beta key". Absolutely, I state with 100% confidence that you will not regret it.

Congrats on getting a key via the timer! And awesome that you plan to become a supporter.

I can't believe this thread is still in circulation. That's nifty.
