You guys are all wrong, if you, as a first timer, decide to run with one of these builds from the get-go, you will end up as level 70, not being able to progress, going to be stuck in white maps asking why my build isn't killing uber elders per second. The fact is I said exactly how it is, they're misleading, the items are extremely expensive in endgame upgrading, so start with tabula build, izaro spam build and work your way till you can afford a complete set of gear for a build.

I've been playing only for two leagues and both leagues I got 6-links: this league the suggested endgame 6-link and last league a rare 6-link with fine rolls instead of the suggested Inpulsa.

Both leagues got my characters to over level 90, made it to T16 maps and killed a few guardians. I know it's no biggie, but it's not exactly 'stuck' on white maps.

Both characters were dealing decent damage and were relatively tanky.

I know a lot of people are giving you flak, Rinzlowe, but I think you're correct with almost everything you put up here and most of the people talking shit probably see less than a tiny fraction of the currency or league completion your group generates by playing the first week or two of the league really efficiently.

I thought your post was pretty informative and laid out some genuine traps new players fall into. I can't count the number of posts on path of exile builds and question threads where some new player tries a build that requires 4+ mirror items and doesn't see anywhere near the same success.

"Why am I dying on t12 bosses" they ask, and I look at their build and they are 12 stat points and 450 exa away from being the guy who wrote the guide.

I actually doubt that new players start the game by looking up builds. They most likely start playing it and so they should.

Right on my friend. If you are a decent gamer that is the expected outcome when starting to play this game.

OP is justa bit elitist and thinks newbies need his wisdom. Fact is most of his suggestions make the game boring for new players and not everyone can afford a "crew".

This doesn't seem fun at all tbh. New players should enjoy the game not "farm like soldiers" you're taking this way too seriously.

Agreed. Find what makes it fun for you. Even if that happens to be farming like soldiers 😏

Look for builds that work on Red Maps while carrying “Tabula Rasa” or 4link rare chest. There is a low chance you will have a “6link endgame item” in your first league. You will almost never farm currency required and will not be super lucky with loot.

You must play 15min/day to not farm enough currency in league to get 6L. You can get good 6L chestpiece with ~100 life and ~50% resists for like 40c atfer 2-3 weeks of the league...

Not every god damn build has to use 6L Belly of the Beastm Loreweave or Inpulsa.

Hi when i read this post I thought wow who would want to play this game if its only for know it all's who have such a great social circle in poe.

I am a solo player so this game is not for me then ?

Ah well #Feelsbadman

New players should play for fun and stick with it past the story to really experience your build / the games content properly would be my advice.

But most of all play for fun, I come back every league because I love developing a new character and powering through the content with some hipster bullshit failure build but it takes time to get to that stage, time that was absolutely worth it.

^This.

@OP: You tell "newbies" to play in groups and do the trade game. That's as discouraging as it can get. Newbies should just play the game the way they want.
Everyone who is tricked into some Streamer-Bullshit-Build spending his whole currency is a self-inflicted victim of todays gaming environment.

Following "Cheap league starter"-builds is not wrong. Watching some vids and guides to understand mechanics is not wrong either.
Sitting in your HO trading for 2 hours per day...well...

And for the chaos-cost: New players can just do the chaos recipe after Blood Aqueduct. Sell decent rares for a couple of chaos and vendor rest for recipe. Easy 200c in ~1 week.

Before you start teaching others what to do at league start you'd better log in to your delve character and enter the mine and clear 1 node.

Otherwise your lack of challenges proves you're all talk no action.

As for playing in a group "cuz thats more effective". That may be but in the end it just goes to show that there's 5 leechers getting carried. If it weren't for that zerphi immortal flask build you'd all still run t1s.

So next time you try to talk down to new players and scare them off with all that babble maybe you should actually play the league.
