What's wrong with bestiary? Let's talk.

I would add that beastcrafting material system is absolutely overwhelming to me, to the point where I barely do beastcrafting.

I like optimizing things, which is a big part of why I play PoE. On one hand, doing beastcrafting, I want to be optimal in my use of my captured beast. But there are so many things to consider that I just freeze and skip it. On the other hand, I want to play the game in a way that I capture the most beasts and most valuable beasts. But doing that is would require me to play in a way that is not fun.

Let's talk about optimal use of beasts. When you beastcraft, you have to consider 3 things : the type of monster, the beastcrafting affix and the monster level.

I hate the fact that there are so many monster types and that they are all over the place randomly in the crafting recipe. I sometime am very limited in the number of tries I have for a recipe just because I am lacking a certain type of beast. And I freak out because I think if I spend all my WhateverBeast trying to bet a good bow with attack speed, maybe I won't have any more WhateverBeast trying to get a good ring with fire res. But the truth is I don't have any idea because there are so many recipe I can't learn them all and figure what is worth my beasts.

Beastcrafting affix is the same idea, and is added on top of beast type. If my only WhateverBeast has the VeryBeasty mod, is it worth using it to craft a bow with attack speed, or will I just prevent myself from buying 5 prophecies later? No idea.

In this part monster level just make it awkward because to make beastcrafting easier, you want 1 very high level beast as your first one and low level beast to fill the other spots.

Now beast gathering.
If I check a recipe I like, and I need a lot of WhateverBeast. I search, and I know that there are a lot of WhateverBeast in the northern forest. Do I go farm the northern forest just to get them? I don't want to, because I am level 80 and I should be doing maps. But I will never get as many Whatever doing maps because there many layers of random in the way (map drops and monster distribution).
And now, I have a high level beast with the VeryBeasty mod to craft an item. But I don't want to spend my other high level beasts for that recipe, because it makes it harder and is a useless waste, so do I go to act 2 once again to get low level beasts? I don't want to do that.

So in the end, I just capture beasts and don't use most of them, because I don't do much beastcrafting other than things that don't check monster level and give things that are not stat related. Just thinking about beastcrafting make me go crazy.
^ good points.

Now compare this convoluted system, with Essence crafting, where you have everything at your display in one tab and even newbs can immediatelly understand and use it. Beastcrafting is just too messy and mostly use-less.

Earlier I wanted a 4L chest (fooling around in BHC on a low level char) and I remembered there is a beastcraft for 4L. Sure there is, but I don't have the "herp derp" main ingredient. Do I try to find this "whatever" beast in "who knows" place (the in game book doesn't tell me anything, but I bet there are 3rd party sites already up) or do I just go to the Vorici bench and pay him 5 fuse...? (the question is rethorical)

Lets hope they let it die and do not add it to the "core league".

I wrote the season off, lets hope they do too.
i like the beastcrafting but its a total mess atm.
maybe it would have been alot better if we had fewer recipes that focus only on uniq,gem,map,fragment/shards, div cards and some way less rand currency. (like the 10 horizon orb recipe)

mabe add some jewel crafting as well since masters cant do that.

the recipes for rare items have some value but there are simply way too many to even get a clear idea which one you want to use.

*edit: the changes for the search option was a really go thing though. you can now search for the monster mod and see what exacly you can craft with it.

this is the shittiest league ever, everything is wrong with it, specially the capture part, if instead of having to throw nets, einhar spawned and captured the "dead" beasts AUTOMATICALLY (K.O. instead of dead i guess, just like pokemon "fainted" lmao) then i would've played this shittie league.

HOW TO FIX THIS SHITTIE ASS LEAGUE = REMOVE NETS ALTOGHETER.
Buff life on the right side of the tree! Just a little! Pretty Please!
Beastiary is pretty good. Don't like the nets so much but since t8 nets work in every map i can vendor all t9 nets for the necromancy nets and capture any good beast i happen to kill.

Today i found the lvl 21 corrupted gem recipe and some 6L recipe the day before. It's some really nice recipes out there by the looks of it.

I don't know if this is a bug but sometimes i use bone offering by mistake after killing a beast and it seems to consume the beast's corpse but the green icon is still displayed on the minimap.

they are working on the consumed corpse problem. amt all skill that ineract with corpses remove the option to necro net it.

This is a real problem of beast gathering.

And this can be solved by one change: create a new base map stat (implicit?) and move into them all 'Area is inhabited by %creature_group_name%', that can be rerolled by new orb. New orb can be purchased only from Einhar for X %currency_name%.

Spoiler
I mean, right now base map stats is: IIR, IIQ and Pack Size. Value of this stats depend of map mods. Turn all 'inhabited' mods into fourth stat, that can be changed by orb, and you instantly got an opportunity to chose that kind of mobs you want to figth (or don't want - I hate the stygian revenants) and that kind of beast you can capture. Simple but solid way.
E = mc^(OMG)/wtf
I capture all the yellow/red beasts.
It's one button click and a bit of timing sometimes, that's actually quite fun to me.

Every dozen maps, I check if I can do interesting stuff (mostly "10 orbs of horizon" for me) or if I randomly captured a monster that lets me enter a bossfight.

For the challenges, I looked up what I need to capture, and captured that.

Everything else, I simply find too convoluted and overwhelming.
And I would never go out of my way and target farm a zone to complete a set.

On top of that, we already have several ways of targeted crafting, and beasts add nothing in that regard. We also have prophecy and div cards to targetfarm certain unique items.

If they let Bestiary go into the core game (and for sure they will), I really hope they tone it down. Only put in the "cool stuff", the things you cannot do with normal crafting.

Remove nets from the drop tables, make them vendor only.
So people who are interested can buy their nets and play the hunting game, while all others just kill the beasts (same as we already do with prophecy league).

the only thing is wrong with the league for me is WHITE MOBS,why on earth we even able to caputre them aside from bestiary complition ??? i have 0 deisre standing in the middle of the pack and searching for the right yellow/red. i've killed yellow and captured white instead so many times,it's fkind starting to annoy me big time. i'm about just ignore them altogether, maybe just try to catch reds.maybe.
