I don't think nets to capture dead beasts should be added. It trivializes the mechanics of the league. However, I believe there still needs to be some changes made. What? I'm not entirely sure, it just feels clunky in its current state.
One idea could be rather than having to worry about having enough nets in your inventory taking up the already precious inventory space and worrying about whether you have the right level of nets, why not make it into an ability or skill. It could be taught on the first quest when you receive your first nets. Then rather than leveling up like normal skills/gems with monster kills, have the net ability level up as you capture beasts. Having a low level net ability in high level zones could be difficult for a successful capture, but would cause the skill to level faster, just like skill gems. Just a thought. Either way, keep up the great work GGG. I know this is something very different so getting it right may take some trial and error. |

Why not make it so they can't die once the net is over them. if you have culling strike as part of your build, it makes it hard, to get them to low enough hit points, without killing them.

I vote no, but I do believe nets should be AoE (that's technically what they are in reality anyway). If there are any "new" beasts in range, then the highest lvl one is targeted. If the "new" beasts are the same lvl, then the cap is random. If there are no new beasts, the same sequence applies. And DEFINITELY enable net switching w/ right click in the UI

Just make the beasts in the net immortal or immune to totem damage and minion damage, this would solve most of the proplems!

I think GGG should try absolutely everything relevant before even concidering the possibility of capturing dead monsters. The idea of nets being AoE and capturing the rarest one is step in the right direction, but there is still work to do to make it feel less clunky(instant net cast, better indication of when something is captured, etc).
If possible I want to avoid the dead monster capturing nets until it's the only option. |
