Hardcore and why you should play / try it
HC is pretty boring. Played enough of it in CB.
it was never a challenge in a sense that the majority of players were playing the usual cookie cutter builds with the usual stacking of HP nodes. Never bothered much about experimentation. Compounding that, smart players will play in dedicated groups. HC players whom know other HC players will most likely be always partying up.Everybody knows group play is easier and more efficient than solo play. And of course, over levelling contents to over 10 levels before progressing. It is ironic because softcore ended up being the bigger challenge. There was simply far more experimentation. I was more willing in trying to do content being under-leveled by 5 levels. It really was not that hard. Really don't get the circle jerk behind it. Those whom have played games like this for a long time, it gets pretty dull honestly. That "challenge" is merely illusory. Last edited by arare on Feb 28, 2013, 10:51:22 PM

I'm pretty confident I can go 1-60 now without dying, but I play Softcore for now due to the insane Desync. I'm sure when/if the servers are fixed, assuming I'm not burned out, I'll switch to HC.

" I disagree, you don't lose your stash, and I know zero people who walk around with all their currency. More people play default so the economy will be "worse" by hardcore standards, but I refuse to believe it's better because people are dying and "taking items out." What do you really take out, a couple of flasks and maybe some semi-decent gear? There's already a lot of that in default. |
|
I don't mind dieing from a stupid mistake I did, but the state the game is in right now, it's way way to easy to die from the game itself misbehaving.
I do hardcore right now just tinkering in races. But when I play the game for progression, i play default for now until the game behaves a bit better.
" No harm in challenging yourself and learning from it. The pressure is what makes you reconsider and rethink many things about your build and how to optimize it. But then again, this is really personal preference. I always advocate hardcore to my friends and ask them to try it out but I definitely understand that it isn't for those who've just come back from a long day's work and want to chill out slaying creatures. All in all, give it a shot. Don't like it? No harm no foul, just play what you like in the end.
I stopped reading when you called default "softcore" as its called default/normal mode the way the game was originally meant to be played.

I have a certain admiration for people playing hardcore. But I know i could never, ever do it myself. Reason is my attachment to my chars is so immense that I just could not stand losing them. And from my experience nothing that playing hardcore offers could make up for that one single catastrophe of getting a char killed.
This is also true here where dying in HC means ending up in Default. It just would not be the same.
POe hc is fake hc so just shut up sir no one cares how much u love ur hc.

" Amen brother 90% just alt+F4 to survive anyway, fake hardcore.
" Even without alt+F4 it is really easy to avoid death if you build right unless you happen to get lag. It just isn't a game built around Hardcore, that is a mode tacked on to make people happy. |
