You can die too because:
* monitor crashes (you cant see)
* mouse crashes (you cant move)
* parents disturb you
* girlfriend / boyfriend desturbs you
* hard attack
* you get blind
* a terrorist
* power shot down
* switching music
* switching TV Show
* a cup of hot drink screaws over you
* a cup of cold drink screws over you
* lightning up a cigarette
* grandparents disturbing you
* porn disturbing you
* your pet distracts you
* windows UPDATE
* doing drugs
* drinking
* police cashes you
* earthquake
and many many more

Monitor's rarely crash, my mouse is 5 years old and still going, I live alone, I am alone, what's a hard attack, that would suck, I live in the middle of nowhere, strong possibility, I don't listen to music, I don't have TV, I don't drink/eat/smoke, my grandparents live 2000 miles away, I'm Mormon, I don't have pets, Windows 8 makes me wait 2 days to update, lol drugs/alcohol, what's a police, and there hasn't been an earthquake where I live in hundreds of years.
Really good post, OP.

I'm a terrible player, and wasn't much for playing hardcore in any game until I began with PoE. Played my first character up to level 42, then said screw it, gonna try hardcore!

Haven't looked back since. Don't know why I bother keeping my dead characters either, as once I die, I just reroll & march on. Good times! :D
Agreed with OP .I tend to play hardcore but my friends are noobs and play default leage QQ
@Imaginaerum What mouse? Always interested in solid Hardware.

ps:
@grant_m thx I inappropriate it
@cosadesx4 - still nothing wrong with playing SC. They still play so you can have fun with them in a game you all enjoy. A friend of my started the game. Died at beach 2 times "Screw this I play WoW again" :(

I'm not actually sure. It's from Gigabyte and cost me $20 on Newegg, it has an 800 to 1600 DPI switch which I never use since I hate anything more than 800 DPI. The Gigabyte logo has partly worn off and now it just says "byte."
I have a level 82 Shadow Cold Crit Freeze Pulser and faceroll everything ingame on default.

I decided I'd give hardcore a go...made it to level 46, died to some punk who pkd whole group in Bandit quest (The Pker was lvl 42 and 1 SHOTED me, 2k hp in 1 shot with a bow....wtf is that bs)

I rerolled and died at 25, 16, 26, and finally lvl 33 in docks by voidbearer. Im getting pretty sick of hardcore to say the least.

Ah, well it does not matter what I use now but I saw some Gigabytes and they looked comfortable. Thx

@Prysionero - Y. And its nothing wrong with your feeling. I feel with you, especially with docks. I stopped farming there completely...to many deaths.

@Imaginaerum - I am just sick of people just blaming desync for their deaths. And I just mentioned some things that can kill a hero and are always there but poeple still play a internet game.

I Ctrl F'd "desync" in the original post.

There was nothing.

I decided not to read the opinion of another GGG basement dweller who doesn't know desync is a MAJOR issue, and that deaths are 100% inevitable before you ever get to Merciless.
People are mentioning they don't play hardcore because of desync, lag, potential MPKs, etc.

I understand that critique to an extent... but really you are missing the point of hardcore, imo.

If you play hardcore you need to a) accept that you will die, b) play for items and experimentation rather than characters themselves. Obviously, this isn't for everyone, but hardcore allows you to understand the game at a different level because the threat of death is so much more traumatic. However, dying isn't that bad because you always learn something, you get to re-roll a hopefully better character, and you get to use the items you found with your character before they died. All of this makes the next character that much more interesting and fun, and inevitably, better geared.

Not to mention that, in my experience, the community and economy in hardcore are a lot better. Much more comradery in hc than sc.

If you die by desync you learn nothing... Hardcore has no real positives the way I see it regardless of desync. It's almost as if I am just deleting the character myself, which to be honest I would see as a waste of time.

This game is pretty fun, that much is certain, but not enough for me to keep attempting the build death after death. I would just make a new build if such an event occurred. If so, then I'm not really learning anything from my death and instead just going to go for a more tanky/safe build more than likely.

In other words... it sounds VERY lame. Now, if I really want to get the blood flowing, then I would play a twitch shooter like quake. That gives me more thrills than some HC league setting. Hell, even Dark Souls had a better death system.
