A Few Specific Balance Changes in 3.2.0

Sweet changes! Sextants are still sick because u can still do 5 sextants on strand/vault and just farm infinite currency but no breach spam cuts down on profits so thats nice. Guess everyone will move on to beyond sewers now

Yeah but people would still need to roll added monsters or whatever to gain the full benefits of it. I feel like lots of people forget that Sextanting requires a lot of (initial?) investment. People who don't know what they're doing are still going to lose currency trying.
As alway changes to please the 1%
but you need to know that this 1% does pay for 99% of the developement of the game.

Other nerf to "normal" players as always :(

Oh, so you're worried about Standard? I think the new Leagues should always be attractive to play.

Don't worry about it dude, who cares if someone makes 1000 ex per new league. As long as you're happy with what you've accumulated. If not then well, put more effort into it. I think it's great that PoE rewards those that can take advantage of the knowledge and experience they've gained.

Well done, you've managed to hit two major issues in one post with no self-awareness at all (unless you're a currency seller).

They are (fairly obviously):

1) If every League Std server is spanked with massive amounts of influx of currency / items that it is not possible to obtain in Std due to the mechanics (e.g. Breach, Zana 8 etc) every three months?

Then

Well Done! Your Core Game is Broken!

2) New players who are tempted to spend money will soon realize that players are porting massive amounts of resources from Leagues that they cannot obtain be it via bad timing of League start or not knowing the 'meta' builds used to gouge out League mechanics for currency?

Then

Well Done! Your Core Game is Broken!

~Oh, and Bonus round: by the time they learn / level / gear up for the meta... it gets nerfed!

And add to this:

3) You expect new players in Std to compete / have fun / trade / spend money against players who can literally have access to a game mode that has more beneficial mechanics, drop rates, modifiers and so forth... that disappear and preclude the new players the chance to experience... and this advantage only multiplies over time (# Leagues completed)?

Then:

Well Done! Your Core Game is Broken!

/Thread.

Shocking. Whales be damned, and I just spent $30 on this pointing it out. Pulling out ~1k+ Ex from a 4 month league is shockingly broken.

ppl are crying here about zana 8 and sextants are just very casual gamers... if u rly want to play the game and do something, you need time... ppl are crying to get zana to 8 in 3 mounths while other ppl do this in 1 week and less... and with currency u do it in half a day...

theese ppl that are happy abaout the changes are ppl that come online... play for 1 hour... go offline... and cry after 1 week of "gameplay" why they havent finished their build yet...

thats the truth i would say...

games like theese will always need a heavy investment of time... but ppl dont understand that... they want everything immediately... they dont see how many time other ppl invest... they only see what they have (currency) and start crying...

thats my opinion...

Well, your opinion is wrong then. It was my first league and I played a lot. Like... a LOT. I ended with about 400-700 exalted worth of stuff I'd say, so im not a complete scrub either.

And I absolutely love these changes. I hate hate HATE the sextant blocking shit. I didnt do it. Sure, I tried it, found out it was bonkersly broken and then never did it again, because it sucks. Its cheating and it feels dirty and unsatisfying. I hated running the same map over and over again even more. I grew tired of racecourses after about 5 times in a row. RACECOURSE for gods sakes. I had to relax with a good old torture chamber afterwards and since then the torture chamber and I are friends <3 I forgave it for sucking so hard, because at least its not yet another racecourse. And yes, I still love you racecourse, and I always will, you know that!

I hated the feeling of being inefficient. I didnt like being constantly called a noob and loser and lazy because I refused to cheat with sextants. And despite all this, I kinda still really liked sextants. Which was weird, because everybody hated me ;-) But I do like them. I like the sucky mods and I like the nice ones. I hate the one that makes your flasks recover your mana and life instantly because it kills Divination Distillate and I love the one that gives you (and monsters I suppose) 20% increased movement speed. I like randomly putting a few sextants around a map every 20-30 maps or so. Just for the experience of it being different, and sure, because sometimes its cool to drop craploads of stuff. But only if you also remember what its like to NOT drop craploads of stuff, because otherwise that's just normal and normal sucks...

first of all... for your 400-700ex you had made... your gear is just mediocre... on every char... ur necro is lvl 93... necro... which is normally pretty safe... that means u either did not played much or died all the time because of bad gear which means u had no currency to effort better stuff... just saying... thats why i dont believe in your 400-700ex... ;)

nothing against you... just a fact i cant believe

but anyways...

sextanttig was not cheating...thats bullshit... it was just an intelligent use of it...
with sextanting now wihtout blocking... its just a waste of money... what means sextant prices will go down af...

and ppl who are crying now and sold every sextant will cry next league because sextant are worth 2c instead of 7c...

all items u found this league for lets say 5ex will drop to 4ex because no sextant blocking anymore... that means EVERYONE will get less currency but also need to pay less... which means it will quite stay all the same as this league...

theese guys which wasnt be able to farm stuff for a good build will next league also not be able to...

all u do is u cut off the richness of the highest... the broke guys will stay broke...

Come on GGG, sextant nerf? PoE is about mapping and you're 'nerfing the map gameplay?'

You're nerfing path of exile. Not sextants.

So, if I'm good in this game you're nerfing good players for what? The lvl 80 SC player will stay a lvl 80 SC player. You cant buff those guys skills in the game so you decided to nerf mapping? "oh wait let's make the mapping gameplay that isnt that great already a lot more boring... yeah, good idea! Sextant nerfed!

wait.. what? are u serious?

God I'm so happy I didn't bought harp suppporter pack. It's disgusting what u guys are doing to this game.
Playing next league, but definately free.

XP nerf, mapping nerf, zana nerf, sextant nerf... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

good job GGG, keep doing your balance based on reddit trolls. I hope those guys really support you.

play only vault with blocked sextants isnt boring? lol

mf broken and ggg finaly fix this shit

I really don't know what to say at this point. I've played this game for so long that I have developed a battered exile syndrome. You have truly beat the shit out of me with these severe nerfs for 4 years, that honestly, I can't care anymore. It hurts too much to care.

At least the Ascendancy changes shake things up. I'll be playing a single target crit melee character, which was something I never tried. Although, overall, I am not a single bit excited for this league.

I really do hope your player retention and new player base expands as always; You guys do make an awesome ARPG overall!

Needless to say, people with Oni-Goroshi can level up very quickly. At its 3.1.0 spawn rate, a popular strategy is to farm the Twilight Strand for four hours to get the sword, and then having an easier time with the playthrough.

We're happy with people doing this if they want, but it's going to take longer than four hours. We've both made it spawn a lot less often and also added a high degree of variance to it.

While I can appreciate the need for it to be less common, I'm a little disappointed in the execution here. I would've preferred similar variance than previously, but it being moved to higher levels. This way some people will be disproportionately lucky, but that'll go in other direction as well - and being the victim of harsh RNG is never fun. This will really frustrate some people. :/

yes i can understand that

well rip Oni another unique that is lost duo to rarity why bother farming like 8 hours when u can lvl a alt to 70+ in that time

this is true. (unless you want it for multiple characters throughout the league.)

but yeah, even in its current state i didnt farm for it. too much of a hassle.

While I completely accept most of these nerfs, I also have to argue against the ono-goroshi nerfs. Forgive me here as I dont know how to quote previous posts properly, but Bex made an arguement for people getting ono after farming strand for 4 hours. This wasnt always the case though, I know plenty of people who farmed for 7-10 hours trying to get this, I myself had to farm for 12 before having him spawn, so now your telling me that if I want to get myself an ono in order to level faster, I may in fact have to farm for much closer to 20-25 hours and get to lvl 9 before he shows up? This weapon isnt even any more powerful then your average weapon in mapping levels, so that massive investment only actually helps reduce how tedious playing the story over and over is, and yeah dont get me wrong a linear story did help, but after you run it 100 times even that gets repetitive.
