Supporting GGG and PoE, but not necessarily Bestiary Leaguespansion

It's one thing to hunt monsters in the wild. It's another altogether to cage them and then slaughter them after very likely maltreating them...and to get significant rewards for slaughtering them. Are you aware that we are playing a videogame? I mean we could be capturing and caging women and children, sacrificing them to Atziri and it would be alright and lore-fitting with the game.

hey! you just spoiled the next expansion. how cruel!!
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
Yeah, got both of them too, even if I'm going to skip half of new league mechanics.
We need torture chambers for the captured animals. Possibly get different types of drops depending on the way they're murdered.

Let's say you eviscerate the bowels of some little bunny rabbit looking creature. And find an exalted orb or a skill gem in its intestinal tract.

Or maybe you just grab it and twist its head off, and use it as a skull mount for your hideout. Or craft its head into a necklace. Maybe if you get a collection of the right types of animal heads, you can craft it into "furry" headhunter, which is basically headhunter with different artwork. Rare PoEmon required.

By the look of it, a lot of work and effort were put this new League... so I'm going to give it the benefit of doubt.

But probably for the first time on League announcement I have mixed feelings.

If they wanted a crafters League... they just needed to expand and improve what was already in the game, we have masters, essences, prophecies... there were many possibilities without going overboard adding a new layer with this silly Pokemon/zoo stuff.

Just make so that by combining reagents (new items dropped my mobs) with particular currency and prophecies you can craft items with some fixed results (maybe add essences too in the recipe for even more fixed results)... make it so that by compleating quests for the masters you can learn and unlock new recipes.

In this way you are adding a new way to craft items and at the same time expanding what is already in the game.

I'm not saying it would be better or more fun than what they are doing... just that ways existed to do a similiar thing without adding one more layer to this ever growing fruit salad of poorly connected things.

Killing humans? Totally OK. Torturing humans through DoT? Totally OK. Freezing animals? Totally OK. Poisoning them? Fun. Set them on fire? Hell yeah. Use magic to turn them against each other Sexcalibure-style? Fine. Exploding them? Awesome. Decorating your hideout with half-dead humans? Cute. Murdering a whole goddamn island AND a town? Just the way it has to be.

Caging and killing animals for power? DUDE! PETA!

About the "standard is dead" topic: THIS is sad, and I agree. It's like they're doing everything they can to make it die faster. I want to see "old league rotations" in standard.

This. I'ts a game, where you kill monsters, alot of them, the whole time. You can't go screaming PETA or morals when the whole game is based around killing... killing pixels I might add.

I just couldn't believe what I was reading.
It is a ballsy move considering all the SJW&peta love going on in the west. The catch is in the RPG this time around more than ever. POE is set somewhat is a 15 century european alternate universe. On our good ol earth during that time doing shit to beast around was fun game and all.

So from an RPG pov it does make sens how those exiles and people of that period can view animals.

Now I am sure even during those dark time there were few illuminated ones who decided animals were nice and all... Or the far away travelers from the indian&boudhist lands

So, Charan you have the opportunity to play one of those illuminated traveler now. Keeping the animals, taming them. you can roleplay throwing vitality totems in their cages and whatever good you could do.

Well seem fun to me.

I, like most others will enjoy skinning them alive, because fuck it anyway my IRL leather nikes are made the same way.

No shame.... well maybe a little.

Funny shit my older bro who also post here think the same as you so I will enjoy inviting him in my HO to murder innocent creature front of him.

We all see what you did there. You don t like the poster so employ the insult reddit keep using because they cannot fight his opinions with elaborated words. I am not agreeing with his POV in this thread but I get where it come from.

All i see in this thread is people incapable of differentiating between the act of killing out of necessity and the intent to torture.

And i think a fair point is being made, but not because of the way GGG presents it, but because of the way GGG is not presenting it.

That is to say, its an action role playing game, thus inherently it should present the player with feature's to enable acting out different roles.

For example, if you had the option between

1) a beastiary
2) an animal sanctuary

And if out of that arises the consequence of choice to

1) ritually kill the animals for personal gain, perhaps even torture increasing their inherent hatred making them better cultic sacrifices
2) ritually fight them to release the corruption and then release their purified forms again

In this case, choice is presented to the player and he can develop his "role" in the grand scheme of wreaclast. Wherever he wants to position himself inside the story morally.

The fundamentals of the league are pretty clear cut.

- hunt and collect
- enable them as functions within the crafting system

Nothing dictates out of this that this should inherently only happen in a morally corrupt way.
Which does in fact go against some of the characters we have the choice of playing.(ranger being the easiest to identify as "not being ok" with this whole ordeal)

Peace,

This is pretty close to my issue. It's probably because I did have some foreknowledge of the league's flavour and I've been led to believe that GGG are more into exploring the evils of humanity rather than the 'evils' of the animal kingdom that I am perhaps uniquely disappointed with what's been revealed. Until now, animals in PoE have been either corrupted somehow or untouchable. We put the former down, we admire the latter. This league is adding a third thing, an action I find really unnecessarily cruel and out of character. I can't stress that enough.

I didn't know the name of the league and I'm glad for that too. Had I known it was called 'Bestiary' (no surprise given I knew it'd be about capturing animals for some reason) I'd have definitely not expected what we got.

There are so many ways this could have gone that didn't settle for what I call cheap atrocity and, I hate to use the word but here it applies, edgy shock-value. There's something not only psycho to this league's core gimmick but also sort of immature. Like I said before: torturing and killing animals is a juvenile psychopathic pursuit. If indeed the Exile is a psychopath, and I believe they are for the most part, then surely they've graduated from that childish crap to, yknow, mass slaughter of people and other genuine threats.

Bestiary turns legends and (anti)heroes of Wraeclast into petty small-minded butchers posing as zookeepers. It's pathetic.

BTW I'm ignoring all the 'sjw' and 'it's just a game' crap because these people, and most of the antagonistic posts are by the usual suspects and local badasses, are deliberately missing the point to cause trouble and/or react with the typical gamer's acumen and willingness to engage in topics that require a little more critical thinking than 'which number is bigger'. I've no time for that.

https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild.

Ignore it all you want, its true.

Know what is funny and what the difference between you and me are? I have lot of pets,i probably love animals more than humans. Yet i don't get triggered by a damn game.

The fact you even posted this thread is the very definition of a SJW. The same people with the same argument is why we can't have things like Married with children today.Complete and utter inability to distinguish reality with fantasy.

Just to remind you,in china they EAT cats and dogs. Wonder how you feel about this,oh and fry mouses alive. Me? I feel bad,but i won't judge.
