Supporting GGG and PoE, but not necessarily Bestiary Leaguespansion

A pity they already used the name 'Legacy' for a throwaway league (...what a waste) because Standard really should be called 'Legacy league' with no option to make new characters there, just play migrated ones.

totally agree.

AND: the flood of legacy items...the ever growing flood...the most embarrassing flood of badly solved item problems I have ever witnessed in any game since computer gaming history begun (and since I'm fairly old I can say I witnessed the start of computer gaming history).

edit: and an item called 'disintegrator'.....really....that's worse than 'doombringer' just so u know...

in this thread i smell bigotry
I think I understand your perspective, Charan, but I think I disagree on the characterization issues that you mention. While the morality of creating a temporary league devoted to players mistreating animals is dubious, the characterization fits with what we have seen in exiles.

I understand the issues you take with animal abuse and inhumane treatment. I remember, offhandedly, an OT post about humane crustacean death for human consumption. I actually considered that pretty interesting and eye-opening. And because of your views there, I understand your views here for thi

s league.

But I must point out that many* of the exiles, and the characterization of them, wouldn't be a conflict here, for capturing, penning, and later slaughtering Wraeclast's beasts for personal power.

*I say many because, oddly, the 'savage' Karui and the Ranger strike me as characters that would be against this.

We know that the shadow was paid gold for blood, translating in taking a life for power. I'm sure some of his contracts were a lot dirtier than "pen animals and slaughter them inhumanely". Just look at the flavor text on his ascendancies, assassin in particular.

We know that the witch had her home burned down, and in return spitefully took the children of nobles. I can't recall if it was ever mentioned how she took these children, but with powerful evocation, curses, and necromancy at her disposal, and her general spiteful demeanor, I am certain this is right up her alley as well.

The name of the character in charge of the menagerie, our bestiary host, seems to be an Ezomyte. And their primal traditions can be seen in Talisman. I doubt the inhumanity of this even registers. As for many* of our exiles, the inhumanity probably doesn't register, or is understood and ignored.

Spoiler
MAYBE TALISMAN WILL COME BACK, THROUGH THE SPIRIT LANDS! MY FAVORITE LEAGUE WILL RETURN, FULLY REALIZED!

Spoiler
Just kidding, it's never coming back again. RIP.

EDIT: Of everything said before, this resonates with me the most: "Maybe it's because this behaviour is regressive. It reminds me of what the Karui did in response to the Nightmare. Sacrificing their own. It's not savage so much as primitive. And the Exile to me always represented a wild sort of evolution of what happens when a truly autonomous power-hungry being meets an untamed land like Wraeclast."

I agree. This is why I'm considering our Frey benefactor as an Ezomyte come to Wraeclast to document its flora and fauna, to learn more about the First Ones. And We know that the Ezomytes (or at least their ancestors) worshipped the First Ones and did a lot of sacrifice. I'm hoping this gets tied in somehow.
Bring back race seasons.

Killing humans? Totally OK. Torturing humans through DoT? Totally OK. Freezing animals? Totally OK. Poisoning them? Fun. Set them on fire? Hell yeah. Use magic to turn them against each other Sexcalibure-style? Fine. Exploding them? Awesome. Decorating your hideout with half-dead humans? Cute. Murdering a whole goddamn island AND a town? Just the way it has to be.

Caging and killing animals for power? DUDE! PETA!

About the "standard is dead" topic: THIS is sad, and I agree. It's like they're doing everything they can to make it die faster. I want to see "old league rotations" in standard.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

SJW's,SJW's everywhere. I'd kill anyone that even looks at my cat wrong but get triggered over a game mechanic?

^My point exactly.
Anyway, when it comes to what the exiles would and wouldnt do its difficult to draw the line. The Ranger was mentioned as an animal lover. So she only kills the corrupt and weak, huh? Compared to her everything is weak, but thats not the point. What about the basilisk we kill to get into the mountain? That thing wasnt weak and certainly is an animal, but we had to kill it because....well because it had to be done and THIS is the primary argument people are overlooking.
No matter what it takes, the Exile does what has to be done to acchieve his goals and will stop at absolutely nothing even if it means betraying moral standards. There is no compromise. Increasing your power through sacrifice might not be your way of doing things but if its necessary to deal with the threat you are faced with you are going to do it.

This applies to the exile aswell as every single one of you. You will use this mechanic to get that upgrade, even if you dont like it,say goodbye to your ethics. If you are going to starve you are likely to become cannibals and this league shows that.

Welcome to 2018! I'm offended by a virtual game. C'mon guys...
Don't take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.
Never understood why people like standard over leagues.

Leagues you get a fresh start and get to re-experience the game in a new light every few months which keeps it interesting and fun.

Standard just seems like a graveyard for old characters and items to go and die.

Even when I first started playing this game until now, I have never once thought to play standard because the game gets boring after a month or two and leagues change that.

What exactly do you want them to do to standard? Any new content is released in a new league and from my understanding standard gets that content to so it's not like you are really missing out on much.

You guys are getting the new boss fight, quests, uniques, etc.

So I can't really understand what else you want? I mean if you want "Standard-Only Content" that's never going to happen as a new update. I mean you guys have items that League players can't use like eternal orbs and various other items that don't get transferred into new leagues.

So I mean what exactly do you want because any new content that leagues get standard gets as-well.
so you say its okay to slaughter millions of animals/people each league, but killing them for a purpose if super evil?

you people are wierd :/

Given the basic lack of empathy worn by most PoE players on this forum (and I say 'worn' because I doubt most of you are even close to this callous IRL where being callous has real consequences -- you're cowards, in other words), I'm surprised my vent got even one positive response, but it did, so that's nice. Most of you need to either learn how to read before responding or think carefully about dropping the double standards wherein you dismiss this sort of thing with 'it's just a game' but then get fiery and passionate about game changes that personally affect you.

And anyone not fitting these categories is probably just a troll adding nothing and taking nothing. A nothing existence. Maybe 50% of the time, anyway.

So I take it you never played roadkill bingo when you were a kid? With the whole family involved? We used to drive all around the USA during the summer months, and we'd laugh at dead animals and make a game out of finding them.
