players playing in 4K?

I can definitely tell the difference from idle screens. Can you tell the difference during actual game play though?

Well all the environments look better. All the textures are sharper and things like water have more sheen or shine. As far as performance goes my old problems around the lag or lag spikes in heavy packs, or ground effects slowing things down are not any better or worse. Even the 2D UI is sharper for all the graphical assets in the game. Basically I have the same performance problems I had with 1080 but things I just way more pleasant to look at now :) heh.

I turned of Dynamic Resolution to see what happened and yes during mob fights fps dropped to the 35-40 range, but I like the detailed look of sharp resolution, so I've left it off. I haven't noticed the slow down except from watching the F1 graph.

i bouhgt an ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q / 140Hz couple of days ago. I have 2 1080 Asus ROG 08G Strix and the game runs perfectly fine on 4k with over 60 FPS.

My System is pretty much Overkill for this game. But i have Problems running Black Desert Online in 4K, it works but im constant between 30-40 FPS...but anyway totaly different games ;)

But all i can say, i've you have the money for a 4K Monitor you have to buy it, you wont regret it :) ist night and day the Differenz.

Edit: what also makes a huge Differenz is the 140HZ its actually really really so much better then a 60Hz monitor.

the thing is, the fps dips are very noticeable even on high end rigs

I have a 1070 (fairly mid level card at this point) and play in 1440p@140hz and fps is skyhigh for most of the time, BUT when it dips - it dips.

and the more shit on screen (party players, etc) the worse the frames lost are

I imagine its like that for 4k as well.

going from 60 to 100 fps is a huge difference once your eyes adjust to it. I'd say its almost as dramatic as going from 30 to 60 fps.

A lot of it also depends on your build. Generally, the faster the build, the more fps will be hit. If you're playing a glacial hammer build its going to lag a lot less than multistrike AC molten strike.

I will say now it is impossible for any rig to keep 100 fps at 4k stable without dramatic dips in fps in the worse scenario when playing a high clear speed build like HoI kinectic blast on a high pack size map. Honestly, I would be shocked if it could keep even 60.

I would also far prefer 100 fps at 1440p than 30-40 fps at 4k.

Playing on a 4k 43" here. I use a GTX 1080 ti and an i7 4770k @ 4gb. No problems whatsoever. Looks great.

Truth is, however, I like using a custom resolution. I often run PoE in a window and stretch it out pretty damn wide. I avoid getting dead areas that I can't interact with, but I definitely get an extra view.
That is precisely the rig I am aiming for. I just think I could spare some bucks and get the 1080 only...which 43'' are you using? All of them have some flaws. I incline to IIyama or Viewsonic. But maybe it would be worth to pay for LG. Philips is out of decision according to the reviews with burn ins after the monitor is static a while...
I just switched to 4k with my new computer

It looks amazing and runs at a steady 60fps

I dont see any any key!
I was contemplating on upgrading but my current laptop does perfectly fine. 4K does sound tasty....I wait and see if the game continues on the right track going forward.

The players posting that PoE looks and plays like crap always make me sad, as the game is definately not.

You have most likely ssd or a lot of ram.

This game works really bad if played with hdd or on low upload bandwidth.

Nevertheless 4k is good in every game. 1080 gpu for 4k is not enough. Titanium version is much better, but still lack power for 4k.
