players playing in 4K?

4k ruined gaming for me on other than 4k xD first world problems i guess :')

I wish I owned a 4K monitor... *sigh* maybe I will someday..but then again...I need to spend my money on the Path of Exile supporter packs! <3 you GGG

I play on a 4k 27" monitor and it is fabulous. So much better than my previous one; The detail is so excellent that I don't think I could ever go back. In fact i am convincing myself to get a second 4k to replace my old school second where I keep other stuff going. I run all settings on high and generally can keep a 60 fps. If I party with someone with lots of on-screen action bits and pieces, I do get some lag.

runs 4k 60fps pegged using flickerstrike. Although there are hideouts that drop it like mad


And i dont tend to sextant double beyond maps with breaches so that might drag shit down a bit too.,

Ya this. It struggles in regular resolutions like Jesus 4K would kill frame rates

I did some more messin around I see what you guys are talking about. So yeah you basically have to have Dynamic Resolution checked to maintain fps because if it's off and you want your true 4k sharpness, as soon as you start killing packs the fps drops hard with some crazy choppy game play action. When you turn it back on you get rid of those hard choppy spikes but GGG is nerfing the polygons - or something - and not letting you have your true 4K sharpness in action that you normally get just standing idle in one spot. When I zoom in on my toon I can actually see a change in sharpness on MTX just toggling Dynamic Resolution on and off. I wish I could keep that up by having Dynamic Res off, but alas, the damn thing needs to be on otherwise yeah it can get pretty bad. On the flip side the down-scaling GGG is doing is hardly noticeable but I wish if you at least stood idle and had Dynamic Res turned on there wouldn't be a difference and you would be looking at the screen at full quality or whatever. I think all the crap in the hideout is interfering with it so they are scaling down based on everything that's going on on screen.

But it's still night and day from 1080 to 4K so for me the upgrade was worth it.

I think 1440p at 100 FPS is probably going to be a better gaming experience than 30-60 FPS at 4k.

I know the gain from 1080o to 1440p is huge and makes the game go from diablo 2 to a respectable modern title in terms of graphics so i cant imagine how nice 4k is but its just not feasible for most.

I'm on an older gen i7 2.8 but with a GTX 1080 so while it's definitely not a steady 60+, it still feels alright in a sense that it's not any worse than when I was just running the game at 1080. Overall it feels like a huge improvement for me meaning the visual were radically improved without a noticeable hit to performance.

I just got a new 8th gen Intel i7 and 1080ti that's supposed to be able to run almost anything today at 4k at a steady 60 fps... still looking for the right monitor, might go freesync 2, but really need the right one for the price...

Screenshots don't really do it justice but here is a quick sample of me standing still and just changing the resolution. You could say at 1080 things just look a bit more blurry. At 4k everything is much sharper with a lot more contrast. Everything is just more vivid and you can pick out some of the finer details such as the horns/horn bone. In fact if you focus on the horns that's how you can quickly identify the difference in detail.







With DR turned off it's even sharper, but unfortunately you can't actually play the game with it off unless you want to experience 5 - 10 fps in heavy action :( But you can turn it off while idle in town! :)

The golem just couldn't stand still...

I can definitely tell the difference from idle screens. Can you tell the difference during actual game play though?

My wild guess is during gameplay everything will be smeared to oblivion. Game is not optimized for this level of advance graphical technology yet.
