Race Event Season One announced!
This is just the type of thing that I can get into. Prizes are cool and all, but this challenge of completing as much as possible in a short amount of time with random elements or different mode types is just awesome. Look forward to running.

TOO LITTLE TURBO, GIVE ME MORE TURBO! a couple turbo events? you're running 4turbo events out of the first like 40events? that's just too few! turbo is really popular, come on, please! I've waited so long for turbo and I am only getting a few paltry hours of it?
the one and only week long race announced isn't turbo, and isn't solo either... my favorite format of solo-turbo 3h seems vastly underrepresented! Last edited by namad#0366 on Feb 20, 2013, 1:46:48 PM

Stupid question, but will these rewards be available to in your Default League Shared Stash, Or will it only be for Hardcore?

I don't understand the currency/inflation argument.
The currency reward, should of course be balanced in a way, that it is noticeable less than a end game Char, wearing some item quantity gear/using gem, can farm in a zone like Docks in the same time in a full group. How could that add inflation? It would just give you an alternative, to get a similar ammount of currency plus what you find in the actual race of course, but i don't think that would make a huge difference in the total ammount. The currency pool should also be adjustet according to what kind of race it is. No Mirrors at all and no Exalted/GCPs for short races of course, but for a week long race the chance of a extra Exalted or two i can't see any harm in it. Heck, for some races even giving out some really nice currency rewards, like a guaranteed Exalted for the first to kill Turbo Vaal/Piety in short races, would just make it more fun overall in my opinion. With the current rewards i won't participate at all. |

" HC, but you can easily just put it in your inventory and die if you want to transfer it to Default. " ... to let them know the game isn’t going to be very fair from here on out."

one thing I'd like to mention, I love racing, but with the current reward structure I doubt I'll enter any race except my favorite race types, just for fun... the 1-3reward points I might expect to possibly earn if I do well enough are worthless, whereas the 10-20currency I could've gotten in closed beta was always useful as a bonus and reason to bother joining the race even if I didn't expect to win!
bring back currency rewards, if you have to just restrict them in quantity, or only give prizes to the top 1-3 instead of top 1-20? or heck let people cash in reward points for currency? or give the top 2or3 in each class currency AND reward points and give the people in top 20 per class only reward points? because let's face it finishing in 117th place isn't that amazing anyways so it's okay if they get a mediocre reward? |

" The white ring is ilvl 100, making it able to roll all mods a ring can have. If there is anything worth using your precious currency on, it is this ring. I would even go as far as saying that it is by far the best reward of the relatively weak lineup in season 1. The custom art rares are a bit low level or for too specific builds to really attract anyone. Redbeak is good and so are Wanderlust, but above 60 points the useability of these rares seem too limited and they are all, except the last very low level! To me there should be a build on level from 1 low level uniques, 2 mid level uniques, 2 ilvl 100 white items and a high level unique in about that order. That would make, the climbing of the ladder more gratifying! When that is said I agree with a lot of the other voices in my head or in this thread: There is a very distinct lack of instant gratification and that is unfortunate. Give an unidentified rare of certain level and random type to the first player to clear or finish quest area x. That would make it worth something without coming close to ruining the economy! I think that the amounts of currencies you got from races was far, far too high in CB, but removing it completely is unfortunate. You can tier the level of currencies to avoid too many high level currencies entering the economy. Give a good amount of scroll of wisdom to people so they can collect every item that drops except for whites in the permanent league. That is not much of a problem. Bottomline is that the lack of any instant gratification and too little delayed gratification except for race-winners and players participating in far too many races, it is a bit too unrewarding for players who are unlikely to win and players who can only participate in few events. Alternatively, you can make the extra quests, instant gratification and level threshold instant gratification. That would solve 2 problems: 1: The points are too spread out for players, making for too many objectives in a race. That is giving quantity players and players going for sideareas a big advantage over quality players going for levels. 2: The uniques should be awards for skills. By reducing the season points to only be awarded to top x, it would encourage players to get better as opposed to participating in as many races as possible and with sidearea strategies. At the same time, it could be a good idea to increase the differences in number of points awarded, again to make the seasonal ladder more competitive on quality as opposed to quantity. I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :) Last edited by radiatoren#0601 on Feb 20, 2013, 1:59:44 PM

The ultimate reason you need to give currency rewards for races is that entering a race COSTS currency.
When racing you spend all your currency to try and race just that much better, then if you do poorly you will often come out behind, or break even on currency, if you do well you can rake in a big payday, but the winners of races do deserve something. By removing the currency reward for racing you risk ruining racing, and causing players to just play for 3hours in a 3 hour race league and play normally the whole time... they won't use that orb of alchemy on their level 20 weapon to try and win the race, they'll just save it and accept losing the race because that orb is worth more than the prize they would've possibly earned by spending it... this will taint race results. All of this not to mention that currency you lose by simply not playing normal leagues for those 3 hours. GGG just does not understand the issue with what is happening to their economy here, races were never the enemy, there's no proof or evidence that races damage the economy. There is evidence that the economy is being damaged, yes? possibly? but since there have been NO RACES... that's almost proof that races aren't to blame. |

" More specific: equip the item. Only the items you wear will transfer to Default, not what you carry around. |
